6 pointsHope this is the place to share this. finally edited some video of the day I let My Grandkids take the Lawn Ranger for a ride on the north lot. Brought back the memories of my first solo. It made their summer.

5 pointsWorked on the 520H I purchased yesterday as it was missing pretty bad. Last night I thought I had a bas head gasket on the rear cylinder, however I took a good look at it this morning and seen some blow by around the rear intake manifold. Took the muffler and tin off to get to it and removed the manifold to find the gasket was shot. Installed a new intake manifold gasket and presto, problem solved. Mowed my lawn and clean her up a bit. I had two others out playing so I took a picture of the three I had out today. 520H, 520H and a 418A. My other 520H didn't get to play today, she's getting ready for surgery.

5 pointsUsing the words "Indiana" and "defense" in the same sentence is an Oxy-Moran. Ya, Squonk...and if I had luck in this hand and $#it in the other...and I clapped them together...I'd be having a doughnut by now.
-
4 pointsAJ's probably right but if Notre Dame keeps playing like they did last night they likely will be battered and bruised before their next Big 10 match up. I think the biggest shocker to me was how the Indiana defense handed Bowling Green the last minute win. With my uncanny lack of skills in picking football winners I better enjoy what will probably be my only week for bragging rights.

3 pointsBrought home 520H #3 yesterday. I must have a hole in my head for bringing home another Wheel Horse. I think this makes 27 total now and I cant stop looking. Anyhow I went to an estate sale yesterday and found this 1989 520H with a 48" deck, plow, chains, wheel weights, mid mount grader, tiller and a pull behind spreader. Needless to say it found it's way on my trailer and to it's new home. It was running rough and initially I was thinking that it might be running on one cylinder. I sprayed a little water, from a squirt bottle on the cylinders with the engine running and got steam from each one. So I determined she's running on two. Then I sprayed a bit of starting fluid on the front cylinder and nothing changed, so I sprayed some on the back cylinder and she smoothed right out for a moment, so today I get to replace a head gasket. All in all it's in pretty good shape and should make an awesome snow removal tool this winter. It came with 4 really nice hub caps that should look really nice on one of my Suburban's or RJ's. My goal is to have a 520 for mowing, one for snow blowing and one for snow plowing without having to change attachments or maybe my goal is just having one more to tinker with who knows. Like I said---hole in the head.

3 pointsI'm a B1G fan but I'm also a realist. This conference is not going to get better with games like Ohio State vs. Kent State. The Big Ten needs to start playing the better SEC teams and beating them to get some respect. It's that simple. I don't know what genius thought up B1G vs. MAC but he should have been strung up by the short hairs for that idea. Talk about a deliberate weakening of the conference. :*****: Ok, climbing off my now. P.S. I don't agree with everything Rob says..

2 pointsI had a good experience with Fastenal also. I was approached to help ship a Snapper push mower for a gentleman outside McLean, VA. I packaged it in a box and strapped it to a pallet. It cost the guy $90 for Fastenal to ship it from Gaylord, MI. It was an easy process and I will consider using Fastenal again.

2 pointsMy L-107 cost $479.35....in 1967..., still working Plugged the amount into an inflation calculator. It would now cost $3,419.32

2 pointsAnd a little more done today. I had to do some work for my Dad this weekend so garage time was really tight.

2 pointsNo braggin' that week was terrible! John, this is why I absolutely loath Iowa! I root for them and they disappoint me each time I pick them! < Not going where this went last year, but . Indiana and BG was a toss up, the second hand was on the 12 when I looked up, so I had to toss a coin.... Heads, I lost!
-
2 pointsYes, hydros need to be ran at full throttle and speed adjusted with the motion control lever.
-
2 pointsIf its the GT-1100, GT-1142, GT1600 or a GT-1642 its an 8 speed. The only WorkHorse hydro's were the GT-1800 and GT1848. Mike..............

2 pointsYou can try the Seafoam treatment. It is probably some debris in the carb as I have had it happen to me exactly as you wrote it. Take the top off the carb and remove the float and clean the bowel out as best you can then spray out all the orifices with Seafoam. I have even left Seafoam in the carb for an overnight then blasted it again before putting everything back together. It will make a difference!

2 pointsLast weekend I sold the 108-5 rear engine rider and got a classic. I found a complete, running and mowing 655 on CL. The deck needed to be attached and it was missing the belt to the mower deck. Got a replacement battery tray with the connecting bar. Do I leave it as-is, or do I do a restore? I'm so happy! Greg

2 pointsYour GT 14 should have a Sundstrand 90-2062 hydro. My C models have 90-1136, 90-1140, or 90-2046 hydros. So I am not familiar with yours, but mine all have been converted from transmission fluid to 30wt motor oil. If yours has transmission fluid (RED) now I would stay with that. If it has oil (TAN) now stay with 30WT oil. There is only one lubricant for the axle and tranny. They share the same oil or fluid. The TOW VALVES on mine are on the left side. One is petcock type 1/4 turn valve under the flip up seat on top left. The other one is a slotted screw one turn CCW to open valve behind the left foot rest on the left front of the hydro. I'm sure a member familiar with your 90-2062 hydro will help out.

1 pointOk so not a lot of updates for the weekend had my daughters 1st birthday party on Saturday, hanging deer stands and painting the front door with the misses only left a few hours to work on the horse. But here is what I got done. Removed a few pieces for clean up and wire wheel. So I decided I needed to see some fresh shiny red color.. I also have all of the front axle parts waiting in my car to take to work for parts washing and sand blast tomorrow on my lunch break. Here is how she looks now

1 pointOne thing you can count on...Rutgers is for real. Purdue will win at least 1 game this year...but which one?? Maybe this one...Iowa at Purdue... in 2 weeks. Could be Hammer Time.
-
1 pointI have no knowledge of college football. With that being said, I almost went undefeated this week. Just needed a few bounces.
-
1 pointMy issue is this, and always will be, with the B1G! As I stated last year in the thread, we are a bunch of 1 hit Wonders... We wonder when a B1G Team will be a hit! We lose games we should win and win games we should not even be in! CONSISTANCY would be nice for a change. Then MAYBE, just Maybe, we could finally shake the nay sayers about the B1G Conference.... Rob

1 pointMy only problem is the muddy feet full of grit getting dragged across the sheet metal. I'm ok as long I'm asked but when kids just jump on and start yanking and pulling on stuff and the parents just stand their and watch, that pisses me off. My tractors work so they ain't perfect and got some war marks on them. Ezra's a great tractor for kids. Can't hurt too much on him. The RJ I have to keep an eye on.

1 pointJames I have had 5 different Wheel Horse tractors. the first being a 68 Lawn Ranger. I paid $100 for it and mowed the old abandond lot next to the shop with it for 3 summers till the transplanted briggs finally gave out. More than my 520 or 416 or c-160, the little Lawn Ranger is the tractor I enjoyed the most. I passed my little ranger on to a good Wheel horse buddy who has too many tractors and not enough time. there will come a day when he will have the time and he will bring the little ranger back to its glory. here is a little video I shared a few years back.
-
1 pointThe funny thing is, I have a "big" red tractor and she does not like to ride....... She likes to take videos though!
-
1 pointI believe pricing depends on who's selling ,who's buying , what someone wants for it, what someones willing to pay for it, the condition, where the tractor is, whats it going to cost to travel to get it or ship it...etc. - ect. I've bought several Lawn Rangers priced from" FREE" to as much as $500. can also depend on anything included with the tractor. I'm guessing this also is true in the UK. It just depends....Good luck and just keep an eye out for the good deals
-
1 pointJust bought one a few days ago for 150, not running, rusted up pretty we'll, but with a power washer and oil it looks beautiful. It's all original and I wouldn't sell it for all the money in the world:)
-
1 pointIf I am understanding you properly, you are saying that when the hose from the pump outlet to the carburetor inlet is disconnected, you get a steady pulse of fuel when turning over the engine, yet there is no fuel in the carburetor bowl when you remove it? That sounds to me like the float valve in your carburetor is stuck closed.

1 pointHere's a pic of the GT1100 that I redid this spring. It's all Wheel Horse! The only things I saw different were ... No height adjustment for the lift lever and ofcourse the Briggs motor. It runs and mows as well as a Kohler. And it is 30 years old.

1 pointJust got home......yes it was a very small show with no vendor area, but it was cool to just hang with the crew and yak about whatever (and tractors). It sprinkled once or twice but not enough to wet anything much. Here's the crew: (Left to right) Russ, Karl, Craig, Jeff and me. I took these before Craig got there: Mike............

1 pointJust got home from the Mentone show. Had a great time. Enjoy talking to everyone and I bought lots of stuff. Really love the moldboard plow I picked up it will look great on the back of my tractors. Can't decide which one it looks the best on. Also enjoyed that "Chops Fire Pit". That is some good BBQ.

1 pointLUCAS... in the verry bottom of my list. Here are some good and popular engine oil. They all meet OEM minimum requirements, and some are exceeding them. Witch is the best of the best ? It's hard to tell because it always depend on the way you are using the equipments, the temperature conditions and the kind of environment you are driving in. There are 3 synthetic groups; - Group V (Ester base) true 100% synthetic, - Group IV (PAO "Polyalphaolefine") true 100% synthetic, - Group III (Hydro-cracked mineral oil) 100% synthetized mineral oil. True 100% synthetic oils Prolab : 100% synthetic, Groups IV/V PAO/Ester blend base, 2000ppm Zinc Amsoil : 100% synthetic, Groupe IV PAO base, 2000ppm Zinc Red Line : 100% synthetic, Groupe V Ester base, 1000ppm Zinc 100% Synthetized mineral base oils Castrol : Hydro-cracked synthetic, Group III mineral base, 1300ppm Zinc Mobil 1: Hydro-cracked synthetic, Group III mineral base, 1300ppm Zinc Royal Purple : Hydro-cracked synthetic, Group III mineral base, 1000 ppm Zinc Valvoline : Hydro-cracked synthetic, Group III mineral base, 900ppm Zinc LUCAS: Hydro-cracked synthetic, Group III mineral base, 900ppm Zinc Engine oil is sensitive to so much things; idle vs. high speed, heat vs. cold, humidity vs. dryness, altitude vs. sea level. An engine wears at a certain rate - sometimes slow, sometimes fast. The rate at which this wear occurs can indeed be influenced by lubrication in many ways. In certain exceptional cases, wear can be nearly held in check. Nurture your oil and you nurture your engine. After all, what comes in more regular contact with the engine’s critical frictional surfaces than the lubricant that bathes them? Of course there are those fortunate few who can afford the best of everything. They are surrounded by all the high-quality possessions of a life of luxury. As such, they would not settle for anything short of the best for their equipments and accessories, including the best motor oil and the best filter. However, when it comes to lubrication, the best is indeed a foggy concept - after all, don’t most of the major suppliers of lubricant claim to have premium products that are the best? What defines the best? Cost? Aggressive advertising? Many enthusiasts peoples are totally preoccupied with the love affair they have with their equipments. They belong to clubs, hang out at garages and auto parts stores, have an extensive collection of tools, and of course take great pride in talking about the specific motor oil they use. Their lubrication decisions are often rooted in tradition, loyalty and the habits they have formed. A surprising large number of us are controlled by fear of criticism and embarrassment. We want to know what everyone else is doing so that we can go with the flow. If our father, brother, sister and best friend all use a conventional Brand X motor oil, we wouldn’t dare consider anything else. After all, we can’t be criticized if we follow the recommendations of our network of personal advisors. Finally there is a category of peoples who really don’t care. They trust that any oil sold commercially by a household-name oil company is good enough for them. They don’t want to be bothered with the details of having to analyze the available alternatives. To them, ignorance is bliss. So... like I always say, you probably have tried many brands and finaly found something that really fits your needs? Stick with it!

1 pointI have two of these units. One I found at a local flea market (seller had no idea what it was nor the value) and the second one was previously restored which I found at the show in PA this year. IMO they are rare and you should buy them if you come across them at a decent price. I have some NOS knife blades if you are in a pinch as well. Not sure how rare they are tho. I had to fabricate the engaugement pedal on mine. Fireman and I were able to do it. I think those measurements are on here somewhere. I also posted a video here of the the sickle bar unit mounted on my 58 RJ cutting some high grass. Check it out..
