4 pointsI am very excited to announce that as of Saturday Sept 6th 2014 a new club has been established and named the BUCKEYE WHEEL HORSE COLLECTOR CLUB with a total of 21 registered members so far. A few of us local collectors here in Ohio have been talking about starting a club for years and we decided to make it happen this past weekend at the Mansfield,Ohio show. We will be sending out news letters to the registered members with more info, meetings etc..as they occur,we are currently working on a club logo.

3 pointsI hesitated to start this thread but now I am glad I did. It looks like I was not the only dummy up here. If it saves one person from getting a punctured eye it served its purpose.

2 pointsHi all as most of you may know I'm a bit of a wheelhorse Nut , and we all like to make and design our own attachment and adapt our machines to be as versatile as possible I've seen some original wheel horse generators on the net but they are very rare so I've decided to build one . I first started by sourcing a 240v Generator off that site . Then I've now been designing my own quick release cradle for it to sit in . Attached Thumbnails

2 pointsIt wasn't me, I was way over in SE Ohio. No really I was. I went to WV then turned left and went several more hours, above Athens OH. Plus I have 16 already, I have enough plows to sell this winter, just have to get them all sandblasted, painted and decaled up. The 3 I have on CL are 3 of 5 I bought. I had to buy 5 to get the 2 48" plows I wanted. The white one on CL I was told is a Bolens from a guy who wants it.

2 pointsWow... I think even those are a little crazy priced! It never even dawned on me that there would be someone reproducing batteries in the original style cases. I suppose though... both of you (Craig and Martin) being car enthusiasts, you've probably known about this for a while. Pretty cool little detail part if you are after the truest representation of originality. I agree though, that for the majority of us Wheel Horse guys, at that kind of price, it's absolutely ridiculous. However.... if someone only had one tractor and no room for another or something, I could totally see spending more money on making a "perfect" restoration. People do it all the time in other hobbies.

2 pointsGADZOOKS!!! Bet that was a surprise! I had something like that happen about an hour ago. Went to get my homemade front weight for the 701, that I had stored by the well house this summer, to give it a fresh coat of paint...and to my surprise!!!!....There's a spider the size of, what appeared to me, a tennis ball staring out of that web hole! So I decided to wait til I get some bug spray to paint it...then I happened to look up...and said forget it! Lol!
-
2 pointsSo you havent been doing your homework for the first 2 weeks Mr Saurus? Youre doing pretty good for a hack! I would suggest you and all the others on here start putting a little time and effort into this or I'll be the man to beat all season...Remember second place is just the first L-O-S-E-R!

2 pointsAlthough it is a fact for me, I have a great sense of humor, and am always making eye/one-eye jokes and jokes about myself...Often I say "It's all fun & games until somebody loses an eye.. because then I have to find it, etc..." And "There is no "I" in team, but there IS one "eye" in me!" Gotta laugh at what comes our way..... As Jimmy Buffett said "If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane" But seriously guys... take care of 'em..... prosthetics are expensive!

2 pointsOn Saturday the little Electro went to Cajun Model Fest here in Baton Rouge and did alright. After winning in its class it took "Best Auto" which is one of the top level prizes. It might be a bit of a stretch to call it an auto but I was able to enter it as an off-road vehicle which made it eligible in the Automotive category. Thanks to all the Red Square members for the enthusiastic support. It wouldn't have been such a success without you!

1 pointMentone Indiana garden tractor show and swap meet. Starting this year we will be charging everyone selling parts a $5 selling fee. The reason for this fee is because the park is $50 a day and two day insurance is $200. We only made $86 in donations at the spring swap meet and that does not even cover the postage for me to mail flyers out. As I see it $5 isn't much and shouldn't scare any sellers off and wont cover all the cost but sure will help Richard and I out covering the rest. If any one has any questions please feel free to contact Richard or me. Thanks.

1 pointMJ has been needing something she can do at home that doesn't require any exertion something that will keep her mind busy, Possibly where she can make a couple coins along the way. I did a lot of research and during this research I found a great respect for our friend Terry Dennis "VINYL GUY" I now have a good understanding what this man does, and all the work and knowledge it takes to do the fine art that he produces our decals with. I made an Investment in some equipment and set her up a small vinyl shop in the Ole M Den down in the Basement. She will be cutting simplistic Decals and we will be doing a lot of glass carving and etching along with sublimation of T Shirts and Coffee Mugs. don't know where this will lead but she is a very creative individual. Anyway here is some pictures of her new shop. You guys that know me know if I do something I'm gonna try and do it right and set her up within my budget and best of my ability, After all she has put up with my hair brained Ideas for 32 years so its the least I can do! Anyways I wish her luck and hope she does well at it. P.S there will be a lot more pictures coming home from my office at work! Thanks ~Duke

1 pointAJ..no one is sure about Rutgers yet...we are just riding the wave...and they are at Home. Come to think of it...there is only 1 sure thing in the Big Ten this season...Purdue could go 0 and 12...the rest is up for grabs.

1 pointThe Vegas odds are my favorite place to look for help picking. I only picked the 'underdog' once this week. Gut feeling on the Mountaineers. Indiana, Ohio St, West Virginia, Iowa, Michigan, Washington, TCU, NOTRE DAME , Penn St, Nebraska

1 pointI've looked in the past at many battery restoration sites and the biggest hurdle for me was to get over the $ amount for these batteries. For me I would rather buy something say from napa in the size i need, rip all the decals of it and get Terry to make something "period correct"....... It won't have the red caps or proper case, but I saved a bunch of money to be able to buy other red stuff..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1 pointCertain models did not use a solenoid but ran the starter circuit through the ignition switch. Disconnect the 3 prong connector from the rectifier. That isolates the ignition switch and charging system from the engine. Now try starting the engine by running a jumper cable from positive side of battery to post on the starter. Negative post on battery should be wired to a grounding point on the frame or engine. Tractor should have spark at this point. Let us know what you get.

1 pointHodge, I did my homework...I don't like the results (just not comfortable with about 8 of my picks), but here they are. BOWLING GREEN, OHIO ST., MARYLAND, IOWA ST., MICHIGAN, ILLINOIS, TCU, NOTRE DAME, RUTGERS, NEBRASKA

1 pointDave, if you going to rewire your tractor, I might suggest looking into the "MAXI FUSE" style of fuse holder for the 30 amp fuses. These are a holder / fuse combo that are intended for reliable high amperage connections. The fuse actually bolts onto a substantial fuse holder and provides a long term reliable connection. Just as the high current compromises the fuse holder, the 9 pin engine harness connector also suffers from degraded connections on certain pins within the male / female MOLEX connector. You will most likely see evidence of heat stress or aging of the plastic housing on the engine harness connection also. There are several posts which point out sources to purchase replacement pins and connector shells for this area.

1 pointKarl I am 100% in agreement. After prior Comments made earlier today MJ was wanting to quit the forum and the whole ball of whacks. I at that point wasn't going to post this Graphic that I created 3 days ago but now that things have straightened out I will post it. This is how I truly feel about our hobby and who it has touched in our world from sea to shining sea. This will be available in a T shirt and also in a Multi Color LED back lighted display that will have a remote control. This is the best I can do on Short notice but you prolly can get the direction I am heading with This. Thanks Duke & MJ

1 pointThere's much to report on the little Electro! The progress has been slow but steady as I had some time. Here it is in the "service bay" getting ready to have the lift valve installed and plumbed. At that point it was almost complete. The hood had been prepped already complete with a decal for the headlights. The headlights that came in the kit were never going to look right so I tried this and it looks pleasing to me! Steering wheel ready to go. After adding the levers and neutral pedal she was done! Of course, it had to have a Harrison Elementary Garden Tractor Club logo on the rear fender. Go Huskies! I brought it to the Baton Rouge Scale Modelers meeting last night and the guys were floored! Nobody had ever seen anything like this built before. They enjoyed the stories about interacting with the people on Red Square, too. It's a world they didn't know about. So this has been an adventure that I wouldn't mind repeating. There are already plans in the works for another possible Wheel Horse project and I can't thank all the forum members enough. This couldn't have come out like it did without all the help and support. I will definitely keep checking back in to this really cool forum! See you soon!
