11 pointsLooks like you are off to a good start MJ. I am already working on a design for a couple coffee mugs so warm up the mug press. Looking forward to seeing your creations. This looks like ta good place to share the story of the C-101 that changed everything. 14 years ago in my old sign shop a customer brought in a Wheel Horse hood and sat it up on the counter. He said it was his Dad’s old garden tractor and he was restoring it for him for a Birthday gift. I had no real knowledge of them other than the neighbors little round hood I remembered from my childhood. So I began recreating the hood decals for him out of traditional computer cut vinyl (had not gotten in to the large format printing yet) My customer was happy with the results and I never gave it another thought. Fast forward 6 years and having sold our sign business we purchased all new equipment and turned our garage into a home sign shop. Soon after we opened a feebay store online. Then something amazing happened. We were selling novelty parking signs, banners and graphics on-line and I happened across the c-101 wheel horse file so I made a set and listed them wondering if maybe someone out there could use them. Of course they sold within 10 minutes and within the next week I had at least a hundred questions about other models. Of course I didn't know a C-101 from a pedal tractor. I had the skills but needed educated about Wheel horse. The next miracle was a phone call from a young man in PA. We've had several enjoyable phone conversations over the years about everything Wheel horse. I refer to him as the walking Wheel Horse encyclopedia. But we all know him as TT. He told me about red square so I signed up on the forum (member # 75 or so) and the rest as they say is history. TT and several other forum members are why I have been able to recreate such a large catalog of graphics over the last eight years. I’m no genius, far from it. Heck, 17 years ago I couldn't even spell computer graphics. But I was determined and continued to improve my skills over the years. A huge thank you to TT for all the help with so many models. To KJ4KICKS for sharing his vast knowledge. Anytime I had a question he would quickly respond with an accurate answer or he would refer me to the person who would have the correct info. To Marvairplanes for helping me perfect the PAIN IN THE A@@ front hood decal template for the 300 400 and 500 series tractors, brrly1 for driving across three states to bring me a tiller decal to scan. That's when I realized most of you are truly Horse-a-Holics. To My Illinois buddies also. Martin whose dedication to detail and never ending research has helped me improve many items. To Sarge who sent me his charger dash so I could develop an acceptable chrome dash decal. Stevasaurus for always finding the best places to dine at the Big Show. And thank you to the countless other members that have shared knowledge with me on this journey. Our first Big show appearance was in 2013 and it was awesome to see all the tractors there with fresh paint and decals. It is truly a blessing to be able to provide that finishing touch to so many beautiful restorations. As I have heard so many times, without decals they would just be red tractors. and that my friends is how the C-101 EIGHT SPEED and RedSquare changed my life. “Knowledge should be shared†that is exactly what RedSquare is and has always been about. So in the true spirit of RS and the Wheel horse family I am happy to share my knowledge as so many of you have shared with me. Good luck MJ and enjoy. Go Hawkeyes!!! Sorry Duke

5 pointsMJ has been needing something she can do at home that doesn't require any exertion something that will keep her mind busy, Possibly where she can make a couple coins along the way. I did a lot of research and during this research I found a great respect for our friend Terry Dennis "VINYL GUY" I now have a good understanding what this man does, and all the work and knowledge it takes to do the fine art that he produces our decals with. I made an Investment in some equipment and set her up a small vinyl shop in the Ole M Den down in the Basement. She will be cutting simplistic Decals and we will be doing a lot of glass carving and etching along with sublimation of T Shirts and Coffee Mugs. don't know where this will lead but she is a very creative individual. Anyway here is some pictures of her new shop. You guys that know me know if I do something I'm gonna try and do it right and set her up within my budget and best of my ability, After all she has put up with my hair brained Ideas for 32 years so its the least I can do! Anyways I wish her luck and hope she does well at it. P.S there will be a lot more pictures coming home from my office at work! Thanks ~Duke

5 pointsI'm a firm believer of filled tires for winter duty. The extra traction and momentum filled tires provide are the cats bee-hind. I had a pair of old but very healthly Silvertowns laying around and decided they should go on Ezra for snow blower duty this winter. I got the RV freeze on sale at TSC for $3.00 a gal and needed 11 gallons for the 23 x 8.50 x 12's. Borrowed a pump from work and started fillin. Tires and wheels weighed 27 lbs. each empty and now weigh 71 lbs. each. Took about 10 min a tire. I'll be adding 50 lb. WH weights and reinforced chains to these also.

4 pointsInnovations have been coming fast and furious here at Wheel Horse Plaza! I hope to be able to bring Ezra to a plow day someday. It needed to have the lift cable put in it. The factory set up has been discontinued so lets use what we can get our hands on. I had installed a cable I made up with Lowes components but I wanted something better. A cable for a 520 is still avail. so that's what I went with. Note: I did this exact same change on my C-160 Auto. but I want a gear tranny tractor for plowing. Neither one of these tractors have the provision for a rock shaft either. The Parts: Toro # 108145 short clevis and a Toro 108144 cable. These are pricey. Cost me $63 bucks but like I said I wanted something better and sometimes you just have to pay. Also included is a $3.00 piece of brake line for the conduit and a 5/16" NC thread yoke end from McMaster -Carr. I have 4 tractor suppliers near me and 3 of them don't know what a yoke end is and the other one had a drawer for it but it hasn't been refilled for 2 years I used a slot hitch but I think a clevis hitch will work the same. I was using an 8' WH plow but now with the beefier cable I'm more confident to use my 10" Brinly The cable is too short to work so I welded on a 5/16 bolt for an extension and cut the head off new cable won't fit in the existing conduit so the 3/8 brake line is needed. the openings in it need to be deburred before using Seat and trim were removed. I wedged the rear panel up after unbolting from the trans. slid out the old conduit and slid in the new. After sliding the cable in and attaching to the slot hitch I measured the extension bolt and cut it to length needed. Yoke installed in the up position Now in the down position. Rear view. 3 pointsWell i have not posted pict of the load of implements i got erly this summer.. but i got some really nice but rusty stuff... i got this winch that has been on a 1054 and it is bought as a wheel horse implement on this side of the pond.. not sure it you guys have something like this on your side of the pond.. when ill got it it was rusty etc etc since it had been sitting in the woods for about 10 years.. covered whit some steel/roof.. i have had it apart and went thru all bearings and chains in it, And i have fab up a new bracket so it now fits on the quickattach.. and gave it a new coat of paint.. so here you have some pict of it.. Time to get some paint on it So im almost done whit it.. just need to fab up a belt pulley on it since that one was gone when ill got it.. and some small more parts to paint and it is ready to be used!!! 3 pointsWhen I see anything "restored" or original, the first thing I look for are the decals. I used to have a book somewhere with all the automotive engine decals from years past. Always cool to look at. Duke might have to sprinkle some "Magic Cakes" around the basement and work some VOODOO! but MJ will do fine. I'm looking forward to next year all ready and gonna seek out that Italian restaurant that Steve goes too!

3 pointsI put Rim Guard in my tires. Payed $3.00 per gallon. 11 lbs per gallon. It is beet juice, molasses, and sugar, Good to -35. I used tubes, which I sucked the air out first and filled pretty much to the top. I got about 6.5 gallons in each tire. They are heavy....and did much grunting to get them mounted. I would like to get inside and outside weights also, if I can find some.

2 pointsNick, next time, try the heat gun method first. Terry (vinyl guy) showed me how to do it way back when and i won't use any other way now. makes them very easy to get off in one piece and almost never any cleanup afterwards. just need to get the right amount of heat there before peeling them off. too little and the adhesive will separate from the decal and be left on the part. and you know what problems that causes.......

2 pointsif you heat the underside of the part the decal is on and then just peel them off, the adhesive will come with it. i use a heat gun and rarely does any adhesive stay on there. even decals that have been there for 40+ years will come off easy this way if they are mostly intact......

2 pointsAll kidding aside, I am thinking about making a set of studded tires..... They would not go on until I knew the ground was frozen solid, then I'd put them on. I think they would do great. I ran studded tires on my 3 wheeler, when I had 1, during winters. I waited until I knew the ground was frozen, and then I'd slap them on. What a difference they made. Ice, snow, did not matter; they got traction, in anything you threw at them during winter. The only down side was, you had to inspect the tires, every couple days, to make sure none were almost ready to come out. I made that mistake ONCE> Sheet metal screw hit me in the back of the neck, and lodged there. I had no idea what happened. About 10 minutes later my buddy cut me off and said you are bleeding... Sur enough, we found the lodged sheet metal screw in the back of my neck.... We made sure to inspect regularly after that. But I don't think that a garden tractor can spin the tires as fast as a 3 wheeler would so I don't think I am going to have to worry about that. Rob

2 pointsRick, tillers can go for as much as $250 to $350 in good shape...sold separately. I think JimD is pretty much spot on with what he posted. I don't know if that deck on the commando will work on a "C" series. You could check one of the accessory charts in the manuals section. The horses appear to be in pretty nice shape. I think around $1000 for the works would be a fair to good price if the horses run good.

Duke The Tee Shirts are their main source of revenue to cover expenses for the show. their are a ton of other desirable items for that venue. the first year I gave away about 35 personalized coffee mugs to the RS members who pre-ordered them and I had at least a couple hundred people asking if I had any more Mugs to sell. The sublimated mugs are much cooler than a decal on a cup. I am sending you a design to put a picture of our Golden Retriever Buddy with his Red square Wheel horse Bandanna. Lola will love it. Hoping to be her first RS Mug Customer.

I plan on going through it this winter and because this is my first tractor build, I will probably post a ton of questions. i purchased a Raider 14 from Rising Sun Indiana. This is the first time since it was made that it has ever left Rising Sun. The original dealer sticker is still on the hood. Thanks in advance for al the help I am about to recieve.

1 pointWell for now it is done. I strip this to the bare frame cleaned every inch piece buy piece and when I got to the body I used a buffer till the shine u see. The paint was good shape for 46 years old. I put a plug in on battery that is why the extra wires this make it easy for charging as the three that I have = 857 1057 1257 don`t charge it is just easy to plug in an 1.5v Maintainer in. But on this one the cigarette lighter still works. So I hope u enjoy the picks. I wanted to do a video a but photo bucket changed there format the picture is to large for this site. Take care Gary B..... OOHH #16 is self explanatory big and black.so don't get any ideas lol.

1 pointgeez! we are not even into Leaf season yet! I use the rubber chains+weights on turfs on the back of my snow team: 520-H with the thrower 416-8 with the blade I'm adding front metal weights for the 416 I know folks have used Tri ribs and or single chain on the fronts, but having an extra too small of a set of rubber tire chains (super find on CL) I'm wondering if putting them on the front will improve traction/prevent skidding....?

1 pointAll this depends on the surface you have ...if it is the first time it goes smoothly without chains with good tires i really like sparkys tires looks to be a fighter in snow.. .. if you have hard snow / ice surface so there is no doubtthat chains work best ..Never tried rubber chains, but i dont belive in them when it comes to ice surfaces but on snow they will work ..... I know well what I talking about When it comes to this ..I live after all in Norway here is what ill use ..

1 pointScot just sent me the artwork. The Horse head square is 4' X 4'. The Wheel Horse writing is 4' wide also. The pic is how it will be placed on the floor of the trailer. It will be made from 1/4" steel and painted in sections before being put on the trailer. The trailer bed will be routed first so that the logo sits flush with the bed. I added color to one, the white area in the pic will actually be the Ivory color for the wheels.

1 pointI'm kinda bored and don't want to go out in the cold so I thought I would post a few pictures of my white wall tires. Wheel horse's were the main tractors that were used in the pits at the Indy 500, from the early 60's to the mid/late 80's to pull and push the race cars around, and I'm sure just to get around on, in 68 WH had Carlisle make white wall tires,( Carlise made most of the tires for WH in the mid 60's to the early 70's they are branded Wheel Horse) to be used at the track that year, only 33 sets are thought to have been made, one set for each tractor used at the race, the tractors Charger 9's also had special strips on the hood and cross flags very much like the 500 special tractors that were built to commemorate the race not used at the track, they also had front bumpers used to push the cars, very little info can be found so if you know anything about them please let me know, more pictures would be great I have 2 sets of them, as far as I know the only ones known to still exist, one set is missing a front tire like I'll ever find another both sets have had the rims painted red, that is not factory, the rims are linnen beige under the red. The first set came on a tractor in very ruff shape, it was cut up to mount a hit and miss engine on it, so I put them on the tractor in the picture (a 69 charger 10), I will restore the orig. tractor someday. The second set or part set I bought off a tractor on CL the tractor was also very very ruff and he wanted way more than I was going to pay so I gave him a set of usable tires on rims and some money for just the tires and wheels. Here is a few picture from the Wheel horse book page 96 of the 1968 tractors at Indy, one picture shows them lined up for the one lap of Indy that they raced the tractors around the track, I bet that took a while 2.5 miles at 8mph I hope you enjoy my little story and again any info would be great that you could add
