10 pointsWife wanted to do the floors again today... so I put some sunblock on the kids and put them out in the back yard to play. Later, while I was gathering them up, I heard some birds causing quite a commotion over head in the trees. Looked up to see one of the wiser of our neighbors had dropped in to watch the show.

6 pointsToday is the 224th birthday of the U.S. Coast Guard. It is the oldest, continuous sea-going service of the United States. And on this past July 21st, I celebrated my 45th anniversary of being a "boot" recruit. My photo nine weeks later on Graduation Day - a much skinnier and younger FA Matthews than today's version!

3 pointsPicked quite a few hot cherry peppers this morning! Put Seriously Sinatra on the satellite, peeling garlic and jarring peppers! I'll have a big pot of tomato sauce and meatballs on the stove before it's all said and done!!! Lol! I'm happy with the way everything has grown this year!

3 pointsBeen without a 4 wheel toy for a couple years so I scraped up all my pennies and bought this over the weekend. Its a 1994 with a 5.7v-8 (what else right ?) with a 6 speed manual, and a solid targa top with a leather interior. Its not showroom/mint condition and does have a few nicks and scratches but still looks presentable. The Magnaflow exhaust is a bit loud....or maybe I'm just to old . Now to figure out how to insure it with one teeneage driver in the house and another one just 2 months away from 16!! Probably try for classic car insurance from Hagerty or something along those lines with just the wife and I on the policy. Pics of course; Mike.........

3 pointsi guess at the moment i am in the minority here. all of my 80-90s tractors have the seat springs and either oem seats or replacement medium height back seats. i absolutely would take one of them any day over the 60s tractors for comfort. i also don't find the standard spring setup unstable at all. if everything is tight in the rear, (seat pan support, flip frame and bushings etc) and you have decent springs you should have a stable ride. i used to mow with both my 1277 and my sons 875 and i could hardly move after getting off the unsprung low seat setup on them......... my newest 416 with the oem style toro seat and standard flip/spring setup is a dream to ride around on and i feel i have plenty of side support and stability... if you have the slide adjusters and spacers between the springs and seat, removing then could get the height down a bit, also some of the flip frames used the early 90s large coil springs attached to them that rested on the seat pan, i could see where they would be unstable as they don't sit down firm like the small bumpers do...... this oem seat (minus the toro logo-but made by the same supplier) is lower than some of the medium back seats. i think it is miles ahead of the seat that was on the 90s tractors from the factory, seem to sit lower and the sides hold you in comfortably. just my 2 cents worth, I'm sure there will be other opinions to follow!!!

3 pointsGot to hand it to that wise Owl. Always trying to further his education and learn. He was doing his thesis on "How the heck does that guy fit all those tractors in there?"
-
2 pointsI saw what looked like a nice 14 for sale on Craigslist this morning, but someone beat me to it! Whoever got it-looks like you did good!! Once again, I was a little too slow. If only I didn't have to work.

2 pointsIts not a heavy duty machine so unless my grass was getting long I wouldn't offer anything.... and I would keep looking for a garden tractor. Just my opinion...don't expect it to be a very popular opinion . Mike........

2 pointsStart at $50, I wouldn't go much higher than a$100. The more I think about it I don't even know if it's worth a $100

2 pointsI don't think the previous post was made with ill intent, nor was it meant to be a negative comment. The title of your thread "quality control" may just be the problem. I have seen parts marked wrong. I have seen quality issues with some Kohler parts as well as aftermarket parts. The issue is not that you bought the wrong parts, but that it seems more likely that something is amiss with the parts you bought. I too would check and double check before modifying anything. The correct parts, either Kohler or aftermarket should fit without modification to either the rod or the cylinder. As to the torque value. If the engine has not been run, the "new" torque value is the one to use.

1 pointI'be been told if you jack the rear end up and spin the wheels, if they turn the oposite direction it is a 8 or if they turn the same direction it is the 10 pinion.

1 pointTo answer your question...it is NOT inside the transmission. There really is no clutch adjustment...just an adjustment of the height of the pedal. A new belt could be the answer, but I would take the belt guard off, and clean the engine, tension and input pulleys with MINERAL SPIRITS and wipe the belt with MINERAL SPIRITS (not soak)...put it back together and see how it works. When I say wipe the belt...I mean just wipe off the dust...but clean the pulleys. Without knowing how long you have had the horse, if you have been using it with no problems...or just bought it...hard to say. If you just got it, could be some of the belt guides are gone...need to look. IT IS NOT IN THE TRANSMISSION. Let us know...if it turns out to be a belt (could be lack of guides)...you still want to do what I said about cleaning the pulleys...and you want to buy the right belt from TORO...like was said above.

1 pointSounds like you know what you are doing so you don't need to ask any questions I guess.

1 pointIf everything else checks out okay, a new belt may be the solution. When did the problem start? Was it working okay before you took the belt guard off? What's the history on the B-60?

1 pointSo the best bet would be to try a new belt first?
-
1 pointCheck your brake side linkage and check to see if your drive belt is worn. Belts stretch out after a while and need to be replaced. Buy a Toro drive belt and you won't be sorry. If you see the rear pulley still moving on the right side with the clutch fully depressed you may have some other issues.

1 pointFor four years I've just used this tractor for mowing. This year it was very hard to start and so gave it a top overhaul, which corrected the problem and now it starts and runs perfectly. Also added some ignition parts if probably didint' need and replaced the original stater. I didn't know there was such interest in these old tanks. 6 fwd speeds with PTO, snow plow / grader blade and all the wheel weights and chains to go with that I've never used. Extra blades and belts came with it, but I've never needed them. I have a professional service it each year is maybe why. Is there a snow blower attachment for this unit? I might try to use the plow this winter, but the blower seems a good idea if available. Are there dollar values attached to these good old tractors? I'd love to know what it's worth. If I should decide to sell her, what would be a good way to locate interested folks. I am in Indiana. Any information of interest about this old tractor would be appreciated.

1 pointProduction will begin in about one week. Material has been ordered. However, at this time I am only making 30 linings. Anyone who has posted or PM'd that they want one or more will receive a PayPal invoice from me as soon as they are ready to ship. Orders will be filled based upon the date and time post or PM was received. Any additional requests received after I run out of stock will be filled when the next batch is made. Thanks for your interest.

1 pointNovember 1968, I stepped foot onto the Coast Guard Training Center at Cape May, NJ as a boy, and in February of 1969 left as a man. Four years later, in 1972 I received an honorable discharge and began life in 9 to 5 work-a-day world. Looking back, I wish that I stayed in the Guard until retirement. I would have been a lot better off. To this day, I still miss life aboard ship. Although the roll of the Coast Guard has changed a bit since 9/11, I still think it is one of the finest, and best trained military services in the USA. John, I am still looking for those old pictures taken back then. My wife thinks she knows where they are, and when she gets home from work, I will try to post a few. Thanks for starting the thread. 1 pointI don't see a lot of the red ones in my area for reasonable prices. My goal is to have 3-4 each of the Cubs, Cases, Wheel Horses and maybe one Deere.

1 pointA 3/4" threaded shaft takes a 3/4" nut and most wrench sizes are 50% larger than the shaft. 3/4" = 6/8" + 3/8" = 9/8" = 1-1/8" wrench. Garry From my notes Outer spacer between cover and pulley # 101757 is 1/2" long Inner spacer between pulleys # 101734 is 5/8" long

1 pointNice save!! I've had better luck with Krylon when it comes to the paint wrinkling but I think Rustoleum gives a better finish. I now try to plan things so I can let either brand dry for a much longer time than the can says.

1 pointI am not sure how rare it is but I have not seen another one. My father saw it one day and never seen one before also, so he purchased it. Sorry I don't have a better picture of the planter.
