4 pointsThis was my second show, unfortunately I wasn't able to bring my own rides due to a blown brake line on my truck. Still had a great time seeing all the cool customs, vintage rides, factory-like restos and even the "well worn". Here are my pics from Friday. Some are the same tractors that others have posted but there are definitely some I haven't seen posted. *The 310-8 Red Hood at the end is from Sat. It was the only complete one I saw at the whole show. I took many pics of it because that is what I'm rebuilding. ENJOY

4 pointsI needed a place to sit real bad and it was tho only seat left. I saw Steve reach for his camera so I told that lady "Don't mind me , but that big red sweet tomato over there is going to take a picture of me" then I started screwing around!

3 pointsI was thinking it might be nice to set up some sort of obstacle course or over land course in that big empty field on the north/west side of the grounds. It would take away some of the congestion, and some of the noise of all the horses running around the circle all day. This is the first year that I saw a few of the younger people getting yelled at for going to fast and darting around. As this show keeps growing, this might be an option. It is great to be able to ride around at this show, not many shows let this happen...I would hate to see something happen that ruins it for all of us. Just a thought.

2 pointsI went to the show last week hoping to bring home something to play with. Almost did several times and am really sorry I did not go after that nice D200 that was sitting at the show. Came home disgusted with myself. You can bet that next year I will be ready to pull the trigger a lot quicker. Well I am feeling much better today. I got myself a Wheel Horse 417-8. The deck has a hole in it and one crack. Not hard to fix. There is no rust to speak of on any other part of the tractor. It will need a seat. I suspect that it was kept indoors most of it's life. Now the hour meter says 2050 hours. I find that hard to believe because of the condition of the rest of the tractor. The 17hp Kohler is a series 2 and does not smoke and runs strong with no abnormal noise. Guy I got it from picked it up in Pa. and has had it for sale on Craigslist for about a month. All he knows is that he brought it home and put a new battery in it and cleaned the carburetor. My guess is that the engine was rebuilt sometime in the past or the hour meter is from another tractor. He is one of those guys who picks up junk for free. I happily paid the guy. He asked $450.00 and I offered him $350.00 which he accepted and I will pick it up on Tuesday and bring her home. At least my blues are cured for a while.

2 pointsThe homeless bus stop photo is priceless! I've looked thru the pics a few times and I laugh every time I see it... The two people on the right of the Squonk were clearly just looking for a place to rest for a moment... It looks like the Squonk may have mosied on over, sat down and passed a little gas by the evil eye the woman on his right is giving him! There is a guy in our group that reminds me of Forrest, Forrest Gump. I ain't sayin who it is cause I don't want him to take it the wrong way! Lol! So, who is it?

2 pointsHere you go Craig. Still have to finish welding the wheels but you get the idea. Also got the grille sitting where it will be.I want to try and figure out how to make the hood tilt with the grille staying put.Dont know if I can make it tilt forward or maybe make it open like a car hood.

1 pointI am going to organize a safety course for our younger tractor drivers, maybe have them bring their Wheel Horse that they are going drive letting them show me what they know about the tractors operation. I could check over their Wheel Horse to also make sure it is in safe operating condition. Possibly an easy test and a wrist band to show they have past. I liked the engine cackle with the decibel meter but I am still looking for a way to show the world with the web TV just how many people and Wheel Horses attend the Annual Wheel Horse Show and I have figured out a way BUT BUT BUT It will take major involvement. I was thinking of a DRIVE BY in front of the camera, not like the parade but ....... lets say we mount a camera in a stationary spot and we all just drive by the camera one Wheel Horse right after another. The time and number of Wheel Horses would really show the world that this show is big ! At the show this year Neil and I were talking about world records and maybe we should contact the Guiness Book of World records as the Annual Wheel Horse Show is the largest gathering of Wheel Horse tractors and the largest garden tractor show. 1 pointI can't believe how quick and easy the FEL comes off. I'll take pics of it with the bucket on before I remove it. This machine has under 300 hours so I hope it is the last one I'll ever need. Loving the enclosed cab option but very pricey. I will be looking for a front plow for it. Tomorrow afternoon is the big day if it is dry enough to see what it will do. Can't wait...

1 pointI don't drink and drive. I don't talk on my cellphone and drive and I surely don't text and drive. And I don't wanna be on the road with those that do the above. Well today I discovered I am no different than those above. I was coming home from Biglerville, Pa today when the incident occurred. Don't ask me where Biglerville is cuz I don't know. I can only get there with GPS and there is nothing there but a fairground. We loaded up the pickup truck and were headed home. I was on the road about 5 minutes and felt tired. I can't drive like I use to. I was yawning, shaking my head and putting the window down. I finally get on the PA turnpike. Still feel tired and shaking my head. I've driven like this 100s of times before. I'm doing around 75 MPH in the slow lane and all of a sudden it happens. I hear a loud scream. It's my wife. I wake up from a sound sleep. I was completely out. I'm inches from the concrete divider to the left of the fast lane. What do you think you would do if suddenly awaken inches from the concrete barrier doing 75 MPH. You yank that wheel to the right. Yank the wheel hard right at 75 mph now you have a job of not rolling or hitting something like another vehicle or a tree near the slow lane shoulder. All I could think of was Carrie Underwoods song "Jesus take the wheel". I didn't think I was gonna save it. I thought for sure I was gonna hit the divider, hit another car or roll the truck. Nope. I got it under control. By the grace of God no one was hurt and I didn't hit anything. It scared the hell out of me and I went to a small rest area not far down the road and took a break. I was wide awake for the rest of the drive home. Start yawning, turning up the A/C, rolling the window down or rocking your head back an forth, then you're a candidate for dozing off. I didn't think it would or could ever happen to me. Now I know.

1 pointI'll second that! Don't get hung up on a twin cylinder horse. You only need those for the 2 stage snowblower and the 60" deck. 12-16 hp Kohlers handle everything with ease. Be patient! Used horses always seem to come up when you least expect.

1 pointIf it is an ignition problem, Overnight Solutions can probably get you what you need to get running again (new system that by-passes the Techy ignition system).

1 pointGreat pic Steve, love the homeless shot I'm liking Duke with the long hair better than short, wish I could do that

1 pointGot the old Horse back and it is a big improvement!. The Engine now starts immediately and runs like a top. The body looks much better and the lights really light up the airplane you are moving. The video below is dark, but gives the idea of how it moves an airplane. I will post some pics also. http://youtu.be/HFym_S1KMZI

1 pointCraig, you got some excellent people pictures!!! I think that is what it is all about. Great seeing you again for sure.

1 pointI just was looking on tractor wikia.com to id another tractor manufacturer's model for a friend. While on this really nice site I notice NO WHeel Horse Information on the site. We may want to add some of Wheel Horse history, photos , etc! This List is the main Index page of ALL Tractor manufacturers of the world on Tractor Wiki And aims to list EVERY Manufacturer. From here pages can be added for each individual Make or Brand name. Please add any missing companies and expand the Histories and the lists of models and known examples in preservation. Help build the database/ encyclopaedia as this is an Open Project 'Wiki' to document ALL Makes and Models. This is an incomplete list, which may never be able to be considered complete. Relavent additions are welcome and you can help by expanding it.

1 pointThe feller that makes these mats was at the show, and they really are nice. I was pleased to see the material he uses was the same type of heavy rubber matting that I used when I made medical equipment at the family machine shop. Stuff is very durable, and will last a long time. I thought about dragging out some old scraps from inventory and making my own, but with what he is selling them for, it just isn't worth my time to make a pattern and cut them out. Only problem is I screwed around at the show and ended up not getting a set. Now I will have to order them. Grrrrr.
-
1 pointalright, i had to back up here and re read your post again. I need to apologize, Bill......... i was wrong and thought you meant the pin that holds the hi/lo range shifter to the hi/lo selector that sticks out the top of the trans. not sure why i missed that. You mentioned the hi range shifter and i assumed you were talking about the hi/lo range shifter. I'm sorry i lead you astray. Just ignore me from now on, Garry knows what he is talking about..........

1 pointButch that old saying is true. God is good all the time. I'm so glad to hear you and the wife and everyone around you are safe. Now get a good nights sleep and drink a five hour energy before you drive to the big show nest year. I always have a couple of the five hour energy drinks with me when I take a road trip. They really do work.

1 pointNice 1045. It's great that it has it's original tires, they're getting harder to come by. I love my 1045, and almost brought it to the show this year, but circumstances beyond my control prevented me. Here is a picture of mine (restored):

1 pointI "have this friend" that has a quad remote helicopter that has an HD camera mounted on it that does live feed or recording. If that seems like a good idea, I can probably arrange that. I'm not sure if we have ever had an aerial view

1 pointI think we need NORADS help in tracking Stevasaurus also. That man is always on the move. Sent from my tractor seat using Tapatalk 2

Seeing Terry, Scott, Maynard,Brian,Wallfish, shallowwatersailor,Ken B., Stevebo,Brrly, Karl, Sparky and of course "The Great Dino" and was awesome. Also 2 of my favorites Jay and Van. Van did you ever get any pie? I was to busy Friday and forgot about it! Went looking for you after the raffle to say good by and couldn't find you.

1 pointNice pics...and you surely met Larry and Judy Dexter (from Missouri) and their NOS collection!...I'm sure I saw Mrs Dexter (w/WH disc) in one of the vids! If Eldon will loan me a WH to ride again, I might have to add the 2016 show to my bucket list..(10 yr anniversary)
-
1 pointnow that the seat is on theres only one thing left to do, seat time....... took it out and drove around the neighborhood for a good hour tonight, not sure if i was making the neighbors go nuts or not, because i was too busy enjoying the ride....... sorted a few minor things and found some others that will need fixing, biggest issue was the shifter is not central in its gate when in gears and just slightly touches the sheet metal cover. that will involve removing the covers and fixing. i will be removing the upper dash and covers anyway when i get the final dash decals from Terry so that can wait till then. also the parking brake lever isn't in the middle of its slot anymore and will probably need to be repainted as one side is scraped from touching the side of the slot. I think right now, i have a few fasteners that need to be swapped out for yellow plated ones, the decals need to be created and applied, hood catches need to be riveted to the hood (i just have small screws and nylock nuts holding the catch on right now), and a few other small things I've got written down somewhere need to be fixed, along with the shifter fix and i think it will be good.... after i had my fun riding around i brought it back and did a video of it.........

1 pointSoccer is played by guys with round balls ,,American football is played by guys with odd shaped balls .Lol
-
1 pointits looking real good, Jake. Will be another very nice tractor when you are done..... I gotta say Jake you have a bunch of talent for these tractors at such a young age, and I'm always floored by how much knowledge and ability you have at finding parts for these older ones. You are becoming a force to be reckoned with!!!! Us older guys better watch out, i know I'm looking out!!!

1 pointWell I let the horses out of the barn for some much needed exercise. Lawn was out of control due to not being able to mow last weekend because of the valve job on my 520h. I tested out my 310-8 and it performed beautifully after a new deck belt. The 520h did amazing as well with both cylinders actually working. Started tinkering with the new automatic 10. Got that running and to my surprise I put it in forward and almost flipped the tractor. Very scary take off. The front tires were 2 foot off the ground. Is this normal????

1 pointWell, some good news! The fuel shutoff valve was seized in place. I twisted it back and forth a few times and it broke loose. When I cranked the engine over I noticed the fuel flow through the fuel filter was constant and had much more volume than before. The engine fired right up and ran like it should whether at idle or full speed. Regardless, I am going to have Scott's dad go though this machine completely. It has oil leaks, the fuel lines are old, the plug wires look old, and it needs a brand new paint job and body work. It should be neat to see what it looks like done.
