18 pointsThis year was an amazing time at the WHCC show. Being able to spend Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the show is really a must for everyone's bucket list, and trust me if you don't have this on your list, you better put it there! One of the best parts was hearing feedback about the forum. I didn't hear anything negative, but I learned quite a bit by listening. As soon as I get MY computer back running again, I will be getting something together for business cards. I can't tell you how many times this weekend I heard someone promoting and we have NO cards to give out. During the raffle, I was sitting almost directly across from Redbird who was explaining to a friend of hers what RedSquare was and all about, and even Tony kicked in explaining how we got our name, better than I can do too! So RedBird, unfortunately no one had a card to give (but that is going to change), you really don't have to post a picture as your first post, but I am glad you did, and thank you for the awesome things you said about this place, it made my day! One of the most memorable conversations that I had was when a gentleman pulled me aside and told me about his hospital stay where he had an extended recuperation time. He spent a lot of time on here, reading through posts and isn't even a member, but he wanted to thank me for keeping the site available as it really helped him pass the time. I learned that there's a large percentage of enthusiasts who don't know about RedSquare, and I need help to figure out how to reach them to at least let them know that we are here, if they want to post a picture, read to pass the time or figure out how to change that mower deck. Of course, the regular crew. You guys are amazing, and even thought we have our "family squabbles" you're here, supportive, enthusiastic, and just the best group of people around (but Craig, next time call me a little EARLIER for the campfire). So what I've learned is this, it a really cool thing that we have going on here, and I am really, REALLY proud to be a part of it. I am humbled by the conversations about RedSquare, especially from those who may not have known I was listening. We're listening, thankful and eager to engage more people to bring into the folds. Finally, what i learned is something that I knew for a long time. I brought my oldest and youngest kids with me. Megan fell ill the first night, and I was really upset about leaving her in the camper by herself, so her brother stayed with her (maybe just to play mine craft I don't know) and I know she didn't have a stellar time, but I asked her and she did.... she had a good time because I had a good time (and that she got to speak with someone from the U.K. thank you Carolyn). So, thank you all for a fantastic show. It's always a pleasure to see everyone, and I am honored to be the guy who sits in the back of John's wagon riding around the grounds with a laptop in hand recording the event! Hope to see you all next year!

13 pointsI'm sure you all have been on the edge of your seats waiting for my pics. Just got finished unloading everything. Very tiring trip. Piece of cake for guys. The hulk sitting on the ground had the engine that was used Wallfish filling the tank. Careful John, you don't want to get any gas in your mouth! video's of it running: My site just before leaving for the night. Fri morning cute little mini horse Brrly's big rig! Brian's NOS 420 RJ I picked up Crankin them up! Someone had some nice white walls! Fire truck A view from the group shot. Steve and Karl directing traffic Say Cheese! I wonder who's pocket this was?? 11 points...from the 2014 WHCC show. Thought I'd share a few images, and names(in no particular order)of the people who gathered together this year... and helped to make another show a joy to be a part of. There's no doubt...our Wheelhorse people are what make the show, so it's no wonder why... I already can't wait for the 2015 show, and hope to see you all again next year. 11 pointsOnce again it was great to see all the faces behind the typing here on RedSquare. Too numerous to mention everyone. Thanks for all the well wishes on my backflip induced leg injury. Everything is healing nicely. What did I get? I got the 2nd Annual RedSquare "Stevasuarus" Award as a result of the aforementioned injury. On the other hand, I picked up a lot of miscellaneous parts, and I sold my two Lawn Rangers, and my B-100 Automatic. Here is the happy new Lawn Ranger owner.

10 pointsVOICE !!! By the end of the cruise night I could hardly talk, I guess the cool night air and whoopin' it up all night ..... wellllllll I went horse ! OK OK pun intended . The amount of Wheel Horses and people attending was unreal this year, I'm sure the tractor count was over 800. Keep in mind that quite a few people do not register their Wheel Horses . Some how Karl with his computer skills managed to siphoned just the correct amount of gas out of my Mighty Lawn Ranger Six Speed so the tractor would come to a stop during the cruise night right in front of the camera so I would have to do the Wheel Horse dance standing up on the fenders ! A THANKS to Eldon for bringing his decibel meter, we did get up to 126 decibels during the engine cackle and that was with only maybe 20% of the attending Wheel Horses participating . We will try this again. . The Friday night campfire talk ....... that ended early Saturday morning was fun, I did not get there till 11:00 pm but it did last till the am ! Neil I hope you enjoyed the show and short tour of the grounds Friday morning, I hope to make to a UK show and see your Wheel Horse, thanks for saying hi to Chris Sutton for me. If you have not yet been to the Annual Wheel Horse Show then next June you need to stop every thing else in your life AND GO ! You will not regret it. Wild and Very Tired Bill

9 pointsI really didn't want to sell my recently restored 603 at the show but once I saw this 161 8- speed I knew I had to have it. I bought it from Dale at Dale's mower service who was a vendor at the show. (he's a real nice guy) He rebuilt the engine at some point and let me tell you, it has some snot! I've owned a few C-160's and a C-161 but they pale in comparison to this one when it comes to power. When I got home I made some very minor adjustments and threw a 42 inch side discharge deck on it that I had "in stock" I thought my 417- 8 had some nut but it now seems tired in comparison! I would have liked to have kept my 603 but space is limited, besides I can put this C-161 to some good use.

3 pointsThis is just informational, no questions or complaints. I have four Wheel Horses with Onan engines and all run strong. Except the 1995 520H didn't run as smooth as the others. Background on the 520H... - Bought March of 2011, 865HRS on motor. - I only use this machine to throw snow, now has 895HRS - The RPM's surged when got it, cleaned the carb with no problems since. - All regular maintenance has been done since 2011. - Checked cylinder compression, both in spec and even. So I set out to do the valve adjustment (first time ever on an Onan). After removing everything required (hood, air cleaner assembly, exhaust and intake manifold) I measured the clearance. Intake Exhaust Front cylinder .003" .007" Rear cylinder .001" .005" Adjusted to .005" .013" I don't know if this was from the original factory setting and the valve and seat wore to this point or if somebody got in there and thought it was to loose and tightened the gap a bit. Back in the day I have done adjustments on small blocks (Chevy and Ford), Honda and Yamaha motorcycles. I must say these are easiest valves to adjust that I have ever done. Now it runs as smooth as the others. Side notes: Checked the crankcase breather, and replace the oil fill tube seal while I was there. The only issue was the throttle linkage from the carb to the governor arm. This had goofy S bend on the carb end. I couldn't get it work right so I checked the other 3 running engines and the linkage on those didn't have the S, but they measured the same length length to the connecting points, 6 1/4". I have a spare 1992 P220 engine sitting around, so borrowed the linkage from it and works fine. I have to thank this forum for all the information I've been able find from time to time and when I've had small issues to fix. Also have posted a couple of articles myself for information to others. Thanks again, Craig

3 pointsI don't drink and drive. I don't talk on my cellphone and drive and I surely don't text and drive. And I don't wanna be on the road with those that do the above. Well today I discovered I am no different than those above. I was coming home from Biglerville, Pa today when the incident occurred. Don't ask me where Biglerville is cuz I don't know. I can only get there with GPS and there is nothing there but a fairground. We loaded up the pickup truck and were headed home. I was on the road about 5 minutes and felt tired. I can't drive like I use to. I was yawning, shaking my head and putting the window down. I finally get on the PA turnpike. Still feel tired and shaking my head. I've driven like this 100s of times before. I'm doing around 75 MPH in the slow lane and all of a sudden it happens. I hear a loud scream. It's my wife. I wake up from a sound sleep. I was completely out. I'm inches from the concrete divider to the left of the fast lane. What do you think you would do if suddenly awaken inches from the concrete barrier doing 75 MPH. You yank that wheel to the right. Yank the wheel hard right at 75 mph now you have a job of not rolling or hitting something like another vehicle or a tree near the slow lane shoulder. All I could think of was Carrie Underwoods song "Jesus take the wheel". I didn't think I was gonna save it. I thought for sure I was gonna hit the divider, hit another car or roll the truck. Nope. I got it under control. By the grace of God no one was hurt and I didn't hit anything. It scared the hell out of me and I went to a small rest area not far down the road and took a break. I was wide awake for the rest of the drive home. Start yawning, turning up the A/C, rolling the window down or rocking your head back an forth, then you're a candidate for dozing off. I didn't think it would or could ever happen to me. Now I know.

2 pointsGreat memories!! Got to meet Neil and his wife, Jeff(Hodge71), Sparky, Karl and a lot more then I can remember. Many thanks to Dave (Fun Engineer) for picking up that Workhorse hood for me and bringing it all the way from Michigan! Seeing Bob Maynards surprised expression when Craig (AMC Rules) handed him the "Boo Boo" Helmet. Craig's expression of relief, to finally get rid of it, was also evident. (hope someone got a picture!) Thanks to Terry (Vinyl Guy) for making the long trip w/o Lola and Buddy, hearts and prayers to Lola's family. Thanks to WHCC and the volunteers who make it all happen! :text-thankyoublue: :wh:

2 pointsMy brother David Ralph and I attended our first Wheel Horse Collector's Club Show this year (at the urging of Ray "Doc" Buesking We thank Ray and Carol for being such good neighbors during our stay. I took quite a few photos and we departed the Big Show site at 6:30 AM and arrived in Greencastle, Indiana at 7:00 PM -safe and sound. I will post a few photos of some things I saw the Wheel Horse Collectors Club in 2014. I want to also thank all the Red Square Wheel Horse members I visited with for their great visits during the show.

2 pointsHere's a little video from Saturdays very first ever WHCC crackle fest... those little red 's sure can make some noise...hit 126 on Wild Bills decimal meter. Sounded pretty good for the first time ever... so, crank up your volume, and don't forget to cover your ears.

2 pointsI recently talked to an old farmer who said he had 3 old WH's in his barn and they hadn't been ran in many years. I told him I would like to buy them and he said to come take a look. I went over a couple times and he wasn't around. Finally he called me and said to come on over. He had 2 RJ58's with mower decks and a 1960 Model 550 with a snow plow mounted on it. I made him an offer on all 3 but he said he wanted to keep the one with the snow blade. Bummer because it had the original 5.5 hp. Tecumseh engine on it!! It was pretty rusted though. So he told me what he wanted for the 2 old RJ's and I bought them right away. I haven't gave up on the 550 yet though. I drug the 2 old girls home and started to clean up the one with the mower deck mounted on it. It ain't too bad but it has a new fangled 3 hp. Briggs motor on it. It turns over nicely with good compression. I haven't got around to taking it apart yet but it should run. The other RJ, he must have painted it orange a long time ago. It is in rougher shaper but the 5 hp Briggs motor is in good shape and may run with some effort. It has the early style of General front tires on it which are rare and used on the 1956 RJ's and some 1957's too. Never seen them on a RJ58 so maybe it is an earlier production RJ58. Here's a couple pics of them.

2 pointsWhat there's a history lesson on the Cruise Night ? I hope they ain't a pop quiz after reading this ! Years ago after seeing many of the Wheel Horse folks still up and excited in the evening at the Annual Wheel Horse Show I realized we needed to do more for the people who come to the show from other time zones. I looked at the drive way around the infield of the South Mountain Fairgrounds and then up at the pole lights, thinking we already have a pa system why not play cruisin' music and let people burn off some energy by driving their Wheel Horses. At Ed Mayhew's house one night we sat down and made list of fun type cruisin' music, some of the songs are from the movie American Graffiti. OK I have this list of songs now what? Well I have a neighbor who's Wheel Horse model 12-32 XL that is serviced by me every year also happens to own a vintage record shop. He made up the cd with the songs for us pictured here. Note the cd was made for the 7th Annual Wheel Horse Show as I was not sure how it would be liked at the show and maybe only done one year. A small batch of these cd's were made up and raffled off with the other raffle prizes at the end of the show. Talk 'bout a Wheel Horse collectible ! There has been a lot of fun had by the folks cruisin' with their Wheel Horse's and the cruise is just as fun to watch ! I do remember a time when one young man would cruise by and yell ye haw while raising his right hand up in the air and zoom away like a scared rabbit, well it turns out he had a fishing line attached to his right hand and to the governor on the carburetor ! At the cruise night you will see lighted Wheel Horse's, a GPS unit used, flags and whole families on one tractor ..... from what I know ya' might see a dash cam on a Wheel Horse this year ! Wild Bill
-
2 pointsI too had a great time. As usual got to see the usual crew from Red Square there. Unfortunately I missed the camp fire over in the woods. I really try to keep my tractors clean and spent a lot of time wiping the dust off from cruising around. I have a plan started in my head to make a trailer with a drip rail to tow around as I'm cruising and shopping. I have a nice brand new 60 gallon poly tank and an old tow behind cart that I don't use. Gravity fed it will lay down a nice light mist to stop the dirt dust from flying but not make any mud (that is as long as the WHCC allows me to do it).

2 pointsGas in a water bottle can lead to a distasteful mistake! Seeing Brrly's 4x4 rig in a picture is one thing but seeing it in person is a whole lot different! The craftsmanship and attention to detail is incredible! it looks 100% factory built. I saw the miniture Senior up close and talked to the guy that built it, again, the attention to detail is incredible! I also saw Brians NOS 420 up close and talked to Brian for a good 15 minutes about it. This 420 looks as though it just rolled off the assembly line! Its gorgeous. After seeing it I have too say that if it were mine I'd be tempted to start it, but I wouldn't! Great pics Mike.
-
2 pointsSold some parts and traded as well. Brought home a 59 RJ, mid cultivators from Chasm for the 704, a homemade york rake from Wallfish and a plow from Wallfish's dad, a nice K321 and a bunch of little stuff for projects. Not pictured is a 10" Brinly plow from Denny Clarke that was shipped on the "Haulasarus" and is now being hauled by buckrancher as I ran out of tie downs and room!
-
2 pointsKarl, for everything you do to keep up and running and making it a great the best forum!
-
2 pointsPicked up a great item at the show just before I loaded up to leave...This hitch set up is meant to go on a the rear of a Unidrive machine but I took a couple of 2 inch U bolts and and fastened it to the front axle of my beater 633...after I unloaded the flatbed I hooked it to the trailer (which doesn't have that much tongue weight empty) and moved the trailer around with ease....it is a real pain in the neck to back the trailer into the yard with a my crewcab 8ft bed superduty with the truck camper on ...I have to come off the street blind on a 45 degree angle up a slight hill on grass and into a alleyway in between my shop and the sundeck of the house, with this I have everything in front of me and don't have to get out 10 times to see if I'm close to smacking something and tear up the grass with the pickup. I didn't get the name of the guy selling them...but it works like a charm !!! Bob T

2 pointsListen to the soundtrack here...in it you'll hear what the Friday night campfire is all about. Enhanced colors provided by the Duke's very own chemistry lab. HOOGA BOOOOOOOOOOOGA!
-
2 pointsNow Bill, you can talk 'bout your music selection, but this year I think we can have a little more banter about you standing on that tractor, dancing and getting everyone else to do the "Wheel Horse Dance" as they drove past! Ya probably didn't plan on running out of gas, but it sure made for some interesting dance moves

1 pointYesterday I attended the WHCC Show for the first time. I met a handful of RS members which was really nice. I also set up and sold a number of my bound repro manuals. I had a great time and it will not be my last I spent my earnings on a couple of items, one of which is a large 2-wheeled Wheel Horse cart. I have never seen on like this. It is larger than any WH cart I have seen except the 4-wheeled carts. I took some pictures, but have not yet measured it. The stickers look to be original but there are no model or ID numbers on it. WHcart2 by rolf.taylor, on Flickr Now that I have made the post, I'll go and look through the photo archives and If I find anything I'll add it to the thread!
