3 pointsOk, time to liven things up around here. I found the pic from page 73 of "The Book" and posted it somewhere on the site. The first one to find it will be the first one to get to look at it, her, it. Yea, it. Wow, I can't believe nobody has found it yet.

2 pointsI've been dinking with my 2005 Classic GT the past couple of days. I pulled the seat and fender off and degreased everything. It wasn't bad, just the usual that tends to build up if you don't stay with it. Gave it a good coat of wax and did the usual maintenance stuff. I bought it in 2009 after finding it stored in the back yard under a tarp on the gulf coast. Every belt was shot, the hood had been hit (pushed in about an inch) between the headlights, the bezels were gone and it was very dirty. It only had 108 hours. I went through it and fixed the function issues and then attacked the cosmetic. I didn't repaint (other than the black on the hood) but rather just buffed and polished after fixing the hood dent. I didn't care for the 15" steering wheel and found what I wanted on Ebay. That's a much better logo than the original! Stainless socket head button screws replaced some of the hex head. I'm on the fence about the decals. I'm leaning towards a set of Terry's that doesn't have the model number on it AND, no Toro. Maybe the patriotic on the upper dash to get rid of the safety essay. I just can't make up my mind. They are scratched and scuffed a bit but there's pros and cons about the Toro logo. Oh well, ponder, ponder. Here's a few pics. A few years ago that would have been under several feet of water. That's how low the lakes are around here.

2 pointsAll - In a freak coincidence, the laptop which was destined to stream live went dead with a total Hard drive failure. THANKFULLY Terry (Vinylguy) has a laptop which I am using right now and will test the live streaming from. I hope to have this going soon, please stand by

1 pointHi, I've just joined the forum as I've an issue with the engine in my C105. Hopefully you guys can help point me in the right direction I wish I'd found this forum a few years ago when I got the WH, as I was thinking about a complete restoration or maybe just a thorough overhaul. The tractor isn't too bad, there's no real rust or damage but it needs paint stripping off and re-applying and a fresh set of decals. I'll post some pics up over the next few days. Anyway, how are we in the UK for engine parts and companies to rebuild them?

1 pointGood food, great weather ( 0n Fri that is), and finally got to meet some of the members. Sorry I couldn't stay for the CRUISE Sold about half of the trailer load and brought home an excellent cab for the 520H snow machine. ENJOY and SAFE TRIP HOME to all.

1 pointGreat show today. More red tractors than ever. Beautiful weather. I sold two tractors, found most of the parts I needed, and met some nice people. Life is good. Wish I could have stayed for Saturday, but it's my wife's birthday, and I have to stay on her good side so that I can buy more tractors. Going to look at a C-195 Sunday afternoon. Jim

1 pointThanks Martin I am totally worn out right now and am heading back to the motel. Waiting for Neil to follow me back so he stays in the proper lane. He and Carolyn are awesome good people.

1 pointI was at the show today and there was a good crowd there. Never saw so many red machines in one place. Bought some odds and ends and really enjoyed myself.

1 pointBlade nut torque is 50-60 ft. lbs.(68-81 Nm) Will get the operator manual posted shortly. Garry

1 pointThat would be cool Martin. I saw most of both live but only saw Bob Maynard introduce himself. I'm quite sure I saw Stevasaurus step up to take a picture of that incredible LSE during the parade. You're right, it's not like being there but I'm loving every minute of the videos. I was stunned a couple nights ago when my wife told me to let her know when the 2015 show happens. She said vacation time is at a premium this time of the year but she's in the position where she can get the time. She just doesn't want to, and won't, pull rank over somebody that has already requested it. I'm already counting down.....365......364.....

1 pointFound these in a barn. Got them for free!! I wish I had taken before pictures, I was thinking of taking a few parts off and scrapping them myself. They were so covered in dirt, dust and grease they were almost solid grey. The tractor is missing a few parts and the fuel pump doesn't work but it fired right up on starting fluid. Since it started, I figured I'd take it down to work and pressure wash it and see what I really had. When I brought it home my wife said she doubted if I would've gotten them for free if the guy had cleaned them himself. Enjoy the pics Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk Found a before shot, sitting in the barn. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

1 pointThat is a fine looking tractor! Nice job on the find of it and putting it back in new looking order. Do you notice the steering is easier with the larger steering wheel? I use to be very much anti-Toro, but conceed that they did a pretty good job with the tractors - keeping them real Wheelhorse design up to the end. I give them credit for extending the life of these tractors and when they were done - not slapping the Wheelhorse logo on an MTD. Now days - I think the Toro logo kind of helps tell the story of these tracctors - so I'm not so offended. However, IMHO, the best Toro/Wheelhorse logos were on the '95 thru '97 (as best I can recall) year makes. The Toro logo was smaller than earlier models and the Wheelhorse lettering got larger again. Back when I first bought my 314-8, it was new. It is a '97 model Wheelhorse and has the what I consider "equal" sized Toro/Wheelhorse logo and back when I didn't know squat about these tractors, it was a no brainer that the tractor was a Wheelhorse - just by looking at the hood logo. I remember one time I was mowing another yard away from my house with my mighty 520H, vintage 1992. Without a doubt, this is one of the best tractor, not just Wheelhorse, I've ever owned - and still own it! It has the larger Toro logo and much smaller Wheelhorse lettering on it. When you snap a picture, the Toro jumps out at you everytime! While I was mowing that yard, a friend of mine pulled up and we started chatting and he said, Those old TORO tractors were real machines. I thought I'd throw-up on the spot! One of these days I might change out the hood logos on that tractor and another one I've got. It's just with the 1992 with the large TORO logo, it is otherwise perfect. I'm afraid if I pull the Toro logo - it will turn into a lemon - maybe..... it would be my luck... ;)

1 pointIt is now 7:33 in the morning and the tractors are revving up and everyones going to the show. Already a lot of activity time for breakfast quick shower and we're on our way.

1 pointWelcome to Red Square Phil. The only addition I have is that you can adjust the shim washers on the lower steering shaft to pull that shaft backwards and further into mesh with the gear on the steering column. Take a good look at the steering support bracket at the bottom of the column, it is not unusual to find it broken.

1 pointI think I got it sorted out. What worked for my situation was this. I removed and cleaned the external gov. components. Reinstalled and adjusted according to Kohler. What I discovered by looking at a spare throttle linkage is that there were 2 clamps to secure the cable housing: one on the gov. arm and one I located on the side of the block. My original cable didn't have a second clamp. That's probably why it gave me problems since I've had it. Now the throttle lever has full throw and it seems like all is good. I'll put up pics tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's help. It's so nice to be able to wheel around the property with her. A good friend of mine, whose property I take care of year round went out and found an older Craftsman tractor with a deck and dropped it off with me so it would buy me some time to get the B-80 up and running. I put a set of AG's on it and it allowed me to mow the properties. First hand I now know that the Wheel Horse compared to the Craftsman is like comparing an M1 Abrams tank to a Yugo......

1 pointThat makes the loader on the 314- 8 Speed an ARK Manufacturing Company loader. (Made by Ark for Wheelhorse). There are manuals for that loader in the manuals section.

1 pointWell, I did it again! Only this time I can justify a portion of it. While looking for another David Bradley, I found this nice 196? Gravely Model L 6.6 hp with a 26" snow cannon, 30" bushhog, gear reduction hubs, and dual wheel adapters 1/2 hour away. The tag/plate is gone so I can only guesstimate the year. I bought it mainly for the bushhog as I really don't need another snowthrower. I already have backup for the backup! It will mow an embankment that I used to use my trim mower or weed trimmer. After my foot surgery, it has been hard to do so this should make easy work of that. These walk beehinds can take up to a 60 degree bank with the Gravely T-Head engine. The blade is 3/8" steel on the bushhog. I am the third owner and the 1st owner painted it grey for some reason. In the next few weeks I hope to return it to the proper colors. I also need to find an electric start for it as my arm is tired already.

1 pointThe model number is 97-40FL01 and a 1979 model. The 40 is the bucket width. The 0413 is likely the serial number. Have seen serials 5024 and 5187 in the past. Model number 07-40FL01 was sold 1980-1982. Garry

1 pointI have a Johnson Work Horse Model 10 on my D-160. I do not have a lot of details on it but I can show you some pictures. There are a number of different models of Johnson loaders. The Model 10 is most easily recognized because it uses a single hydraulic cylinder to operate the bucket tilt rather than one on each side. The first picture below is one I found online. I do not know who it belongs to but it shows the layout of the FEL. This model has the controls on the right, no cross bar across the top of the tractor and the single hydraulic cylinder in the center with a mechanism that extends the amount of throw that one cylinder provides. If this does not match your FEL then you have a different model. The second picture is of my D-160 with the FEL on. I am still working on the partial restore but she is getting close to complete. Not a great shot of the FEL but you can see the controls and how it mounts under the tractor. Essentially it has a bar that goes under the tractor and bolts into place at the same place the foot support bracket is bolted on. Two arms angle inward towards the front of the tractor to bolt to the sides below the hood. My hydraulic pump is currently mounted where the grill should be. I am going to move it to below the tractor with a longer belt to the PTO so the grill can go back on. This is how it was mounted when I got it. As was stated previously in the thread these Johnson Workhorse FELs were not designed specifically for Wheel Horse but were designed to be easily adaptible to different tractors. They did come with options for the mounting frames for some Cub models and I have a manual for the FEL related to a Cub tractor specifically.
-
1 pointI never knew Johnson to make a loader specific to Wheelhorse except maybe very early 60's tractors. If it's on a 314-8 Speed, it was modified to fit that tractor. Johnson Loaders were on a lot of Cub Cadets. Perhaps looking on a cub forum and a picture of one might look like the one your looking at. Also, under the topic "Calling All Loaders" in this section, we have a member here who has a Johnson Loader on his tractor with a picture. take a look at it and if it's a match, give him a PM to see if he has info on it. Good Luck!

1 pointThanks for the help guys. And 546cowboy and boovuc? I am going to peen the seat. Just because I want to try it. Unless this tractor literally goes to hell in a handbasket? It will never be sold. If it doesn't work? Then a Re-Power will be in order. I use stuff until it can't be used anymore and then ladies and gentlemen. It becomes a parts donor.

1 pointNow I have a story to tell here. Boss at work told me about this one. A neighbor had it. I told my boss that I might be living in the garage if I even hint about looking at another one after getting the c125 last week. So I get home, wife calls to let me know she's on her way home. I thought I'd try my luck and mention something about it............. She said? So what did she say? She said, "well, let's go look at it, you might get it cheap"......... I just about fell over....... And the rest is, as they say, history..... Oh, and just in case you didn't know, my wife is awesome!!!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
