8 pointsSteve Hillesheim and his wife Chris decided to lay over in Streetsboro, Ohio on their way to the show in Pa., so Karen and I made plans to meet and have dinner with them at Rockne's this evening. We had a great time, good food and beverages! We then wished them a very safe trip on to the show, and wish safe travels to all of you going as well. Steve also presented us with a bottle of Blueberry Especial to take home. It's chilling as we speak for enjoyment later this weekend. Thank you Steve and Chris for a great evening!

4 pointsWell, I wish everyone a fine Show week. I cant get away and I am getting ready to start restoring my C161. It looks ok from a distance but is in need of real elbow grease, sand blasting and paint/parts. The seat is absolutely shot. Just the metal pan. So I may have over paid, perhaps in bidding war with someone on this site but I am now the new owner of a reupholstered Actual Wheel Horse seat. I figured it was worth it to ante up to get an actual seat. But thats just me. I am sure a Tractor Supply Michagan seat would have sufficed but I really like the look of this one. I imagine if I could get out to the show I might find something that would suffice but as I can't, I bit the proverbial bullet. Again, I wish everyone headed out safe journey. Aldon

2 pointsMy father has been looking for a riding mower for his seasonal campsite. After some convincing I talked him into buying a c-81. Its not pretty but its solid and runs good. It needed a pto to deck belt today so we replaced it. After doing so the engine would stall when the pto was engaged. I felt terrible after talking him into buying this one. Well a quick search here and everything was pointing at the seat safety switch. Turns out he pulled the fender pan off yesterday and unintentionally pulled off the wires. So with out ever asking a question I was able to figure it out which is a big relief for me. Thanks Mark

2 pointsI am bringing my buffer to the show.... Maybe I can open up a tractor detail business...
-
2 pointshydro - not just because i have one, but what you'd be doing mostly with a FEL is going to be a lot of back and forth.. a lever or even better a foot pedal would make that much smoother. just my 2 cents.

2 pointsBig storm came thru last night and as with tradition, a photo op of the fleet getting the yard work done before leaving.Half loaded the trailer waiting for things to dry out some. Lot's of sticks but nothing major. Ezra gets to sit out the job as he's going to the show.

2 pointsWheel Horse implements specifically for the slot hitch? Anything that needed to be able to lift out of the ground. Disc, Plow, self-powered tiller, Cultivator. The slot hitch is the one that came standard on the tractor. The regular trailer hitch was an add on, and designed to be installed with the slot hitch. Wheel Horse and Jacobsen used slot hitches before they switched over to the more common universal clevis (or sleeve) hitch that everyone else was already using. Manufacturers like Brinly used to make implements with both styles of hitch, but later changed to just making one and offering a slot hitch adapter for the machines that needed it.. I have and have used my slot hitch plow and slot hitch cultivator on several occasions. Would like to find a disc, but that one keeps eluding me.

2 pointsMichael... is nice to see I'm not the only one with tractors in the house. Glad to hear you didn't switch teams Neil.
-
2 pointsI think in that last picture Neil is saying "Finally a steering wheel where it's SUPPOSED to be"

2 pointsWe will be live broadcasting from a public place, there's no expectation of privacy. Also, I don't plan on hiding the fact that we're live broadcasting, and can put a sign out saying as much. We're not talking High Definitiion broadcast TV quality here, so unless you talk into the camera, no one's gonna hear ya anyway.

1 pointNever been to the show have no idea how many people are there. Didn't get my Rj done bringing my Lawn Ranger. Hope to set up near other Red Square members. Will Hve the pins with me.

1 pointPaul, thanks for the reply. I had been using PB Blaster so I continued today being the fourth day and still wasn't having any luck but I had to get the lawn mowed. I put in my hearing protection an ran the tractor for about 2hrs. I let it set for about 15 min. when finished then hit the bolts with PB waited 10 min. and tried the bolts, they both came out without much effort. Ed

1 pointok, yesterday I bought my first wheel horse ! its a 520H like I had been wanting not sure what year, I pick it up tonight looked to be in great shape no rust at all that I could see had 600 hours on it and I payed 600 for it the deck is a 48'' cut and looks to be in excellent shape I'm super excited about it pics. to follow I was just wondering what kind of a deal did I get on it ?
-
1 pointJust a short video of my "beehind." Actually this was the first time that I got it running. It won't pull-start at this point so I used an aux starter (1/2" SLOW speed drill.) This is top speed with the gear reduction hubs.
-
1 point"Is it okay to paint the regulator fins?" Function wise for them being able to dissipate the heat from the electronic parts inside? No problem at all. I would not recommend plastikote dip, but the cooling ability of the fins won't notice a layer of paint.
-
1 pointJason Thank you very interesting info especially about trailer hitch being the "later add on"

1 pointI'm sure there will be a shroud or two there with them, if you get stuck I'm sure I have some here I can send out to you......Might get some more plated when I take my next bucket of bolts in......... Bob, while I'm a little younger than you, my eyes aren't what they used to be. I spend way too much time crawling around on the garage floor looking for pieces just like these!!!!! They always end up being right in front of you, (that's if you didn't mistakenly kick them across the floor......) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1 pointThanks! I figued I only spent 75 more than I would for a generic seat. For some reason I thought the show was in Indiana. I see there is a Show in PA this week. I might just be able to coerce the missus into letting me break away for the weekend:)
-
1 pointsounds like a sweet deal - i was north of a grand for mine with a few more hours (although it had a snow-blower) just think, with all of that money you "saved" you can start buying attachments!

1 pointThe biggest downside to the RD decks are that unlike the SD discharge decks, you can't watch the clippings fly out the side of the mower.... Otherwise, I like both!

1 pointi'll be driving with in 75 miles.....on my way through from Michigan to a family rebellion in Virginia Beach, VA... the wife wont drop me off, and continue on her way either, i already asked.... maybe next year... enjoy the show Gents.

1 pointHere is the prototype of the new unit with the steering wheel. We might even be able to afford one.
-
1 pointOur set up would not work on the manual lift. If I were you and making just one I would fab up a plate that mounts to the read transaxle and use a linear actuator. Similar to the set ups found on Case garden tractors.

1 pointSee ya soon Neil, keep an eye on Steve especially if following. YIKES!!!

1 pointI find that if you are prepared for the worst...the worst never happens. The world according to Stevasaurus. Remember, we are trying to make Neil feel at home.

1 pointPulled out some stuff to bring along and sell or trade. Prefer to just sell at the show, first come, first serve unless someone local wants to come by and take a look at it this week. I'll be there Thu. afternoon so please look me up if you're interested. RJ-58 with Clinton B1290 and a bunch of attachments. CBR-32 RJ-35/ early 58 mower deck moldboard plow RJ dozer blade homemade york rake potato plow?

1 pointNeil...looks like I saved you some money last night by Skyping through dinner. Great chatting with you guys.

1 pointDo we use CB's? Who's gonna drive the Black TransAm?

1 pointlooking good so far!... one thing i would check with your repair in the last pic is does the belt guard fit right. maybe its just the position of the pic but it looks like you welded some sort of brace underneath the repair. the belt guard fits underneath that area and any extra metal is sometimes in the way. you maybe ok if back far enough to clear the belt guard. maybe you already considered that, but just thought id throw it out there......

1 pointA little update on my engine. Beadblasted it a few weeks ago, and then sent it to the small engine shop for a valve job. And Last week I got a NOS gasket set and piston for it. Also purchased a NOS stator for it. I will need to order a set of new rings/ hone the cylinder and it's ready to go back together. I'm going to wait a few weeks though as my local swap meet is in a week and a half and you never know what you'll find there. Last year I got a k91 for $20 and had it running within a half hr. I also keep forgetting to take pictures of the hood, but I've only got a couple weeks of school left, and then I will have some time to get that finished up and primed to start sanding it. This tractor is getting close, and I'm hoping to finish it up for a show by the end of june, but I'll see what happens, rushing isn't always the best thing to do when your trying to make something nice. Thanks, Jake also forgot, I picked these up for a whopping $6!
