4 pointsAs you may or may not know, Neil (moderator) is coming over for the Big Show in Penn this year from England. He is planning on being in the states for about 3 weeks. The part before before the show, and the show is already planned out. He and his partner is going to be around for most of the next week after the show. He is looking for some things to do in the area before he goes back later in the week. I have a few ideas, but I am not from that area. Here is the deal...I have Neil on Skype and have talked with him about this. What I would like to do is get some of you guys on Skype in that area of the country this Saturday around 2 or 3 o'clock (because he is 6 hours ahead) in a group conversation with Neil and talk about what is possible to see and do for about 3 to 4 days in that area after the Show. He is not looking to get locked into an itinerary, but he is looking for ideas so he can make choices and not just travel around in circles with no idea and end up feeling like he has just drove around. If you are on Skype, let me know if you can be on Saturday...if you are not on Skype...please post some web sites in this thread of things to do and to see. We were thinking south-eastern Penn...Maryland...New Jersey. I will say this after talking with Niel the other day...not really interested in populated areas (Philly..DC..NYC..Gettysburg)..he is looking for Amish country sides...back woods America...etc. He and his partner and I and my wife were thinking that going to the Strassurg Stream Train Museum on Sunday or Monday..after the show (about 50 miles east). RWilson expressed some interest in going with us to this. I am looking to spend a few days after the show in that area with Neil, but like him, I am at a loss of the expertise you locals have in things to do and see and eat...both Niel and I are into eating excellent cosine form the area. I could show Neil around Chicago, and I may get to do that in a year or so. Well, anyway, I ramble. Throw some stuff out there (web sites...favorite places...etc). Also...let me know if you can be on Skype this Saturday...let's say 3 eastern time...9 PM for you Neil!! Hope this works...we are flexible. :) .

Going after the native Browns on our wild trout stream Saturday morning then hitting the stocked streams later in the day! Here is a native Long Run Brown!

2 pointsI am looking at a 418-A for sale. It has the Kohler twin with 1650 hours, 48 in deck, a single stage snowblower, chains and wheel weights. It says it includes all manuals and is in good condition. They are asking $1,250. I have no experience with this engine, or what this model came with. Any idea what it might be worth?
-
2 pointsI personally would not replace it. The cam lobe cam wear more. If you do annual maint, which is very important, there is no problem making a .001-.003 adjustment to the points. I know this sucks, but it is better than wearing out the cam. Lastly, any aftermarket points that are missing the words Echlin, or Kohler, and absolute trash. Toss them out. Also the Chinese no name spark plugs that come in the kit are also trash.

1 pointI bet the mid grader blade has only been used a couple times! The tiller has hardly seen any use either!

1 pointWell...after seeing Marshall Fyffe's 1054 several years ago...I've been wanting one. Well...last November Dave Tallon spotted one near Champaign, IL and told me about it. To my surprise it was delivered almost to my door fairly cheap. Since then I've added 3 more 1054's. The first one from November was actually a 1054A and the others are 1054. Two are just parts tractors however one could be a runner if I had an engine. Was able to get a new grille insert laser cut and hope to add it later. Still need to fix the one with mower deck as it had a bad tank. Took the tank of parts tractor and hope to have it back running next week.

1 pointYou may be hearing about a serious internet bug (click here). What does this mean to RedSquare and more importantly what does this mean to you? Click the link to read the technical portion. First - RedSquare does NOT use SSL or OpenSSL to process login information. What this means in non-technical terms is RedSquare is NOT affected by this issue. BUT because we don't use any encryption on your passwords, they are open for interception. When we established the site, I elected not to use SSL because we do not handle any financial transactions (PayPal is used for any financial transactions more on that later). As a worst case scenario, anyone who wanted to "hack" your RS account would gain access to your PM's, and honestly there's no interest in a hacker doing so as there's no gain for them and we're a low volume site and don't show on their radar! Second - You are likely affected by other sites that you visit. These include sites where you enter financial information such as credit cards, e-mail passwords, banking systems etc. This BUG is not new, it's been around for a couple of years but it's just coming to the surface. The exposure is very large. It's important to realize that because the bug was announced today, the exposure is greater now than yesterday because hackers NOW know what they need to do. What can you do? If you've been following "Safe Computing" practices you know already that rule #1 is NEVER EVER have the same password for your bank account / PayPal / credit cards etc as your email, forum, or others. Until the issue is resolved by your institution, simply DO NOT log into their site is patched. Now, if you're among the vast majority who's password IS the same as your e-mail avoid accessing your e-mail. Going forward NEVER EVER have the same password for your critical accounts (bank, credit card etc) as your non-critical accounts (RedSquare, eMail etc) When these things are announced stop accessing the critical sites. When they are patched, change your password (in the event your was disclosed). I hope that none of you are affected, but this is something to be aware of.

1 pointI have a newer 10 hp Tecumseh on my Workhorse 700. I don't have the tractor hood on it right now because I need to cut a small semi-circle out to clear the air-cleaner. I may cut the hood, I may leave it off, I don't know for sure, but I still use it to work & play. Oh, and

1 pointThanks the reply and welcome guys. I normally work on John Deere and snapper so this is my first wheel horse. But I really like it and want to do this one right
-
1 pointIt should have a 7 hp Tecumseh engine on it. But you can mount a small 7 or 8 hp. Kohler on it. A Briggs motor would work too. Good price on your 700, built in 1969 and only made one year, good score! Welcome to RedSquare!

1 pointYou didn't report back! What did you find was the problem?
-
1 pointI have always had to run 30's as well, even though wheel horse says to use a 29 they don't seem to work right.
-
1 pointjust my experience with the 550...I have to use a 1/2"x30". Anything smaller won't disengage the drive even with a belt guard and "finger".
-
1 pointI agree with you Steve! That thing will be for sale before the summer is over!
-
1 pointStarted the 704 after a long winter for sure. Started on the first pull. I stored it last fall with the Super-Whoopie fuel you buy at Lowes. It's supposed to have a 3 yr shelf life. I know the 2 cycle fuel they sell works awesome. Hood rattles a bit when revved up. Hope to get it on the yard this weekend to pull the trailer and sweeper!

1 pointNeil, after the show I'll be heading back home (that Saturday in fact). But I am planning on bringing everyone to PA for those days. Like we had originally discussed, the plan is to bring our camper. My wife is not really interested in the show and I am sure would love a cultural exchange. There are some historic sites in the show's area which I am sure you're quite aware of. There are also caverns to see, Hershey Park, Amish country, and of course New York City. A little further are the casino's at Atlantic City, board walks, and the other side of the Atlantic ocean. Looking forward to meeting you and Carolyn.

1 pointNeil, I thought you might rent a car and PROWL for some horses? ~Duke

1 pointI think what you have there James is a 1975 model tractor which was badged B-80 in the US but Commando 800 by Amnor for the Euro market. Wheel Horse also stuck with badging the 1975 C-100 model as Raider 10s when assembled in Europe by Amnor. Possibly this was a way of using up the overstock of decals from South Bend or because it was considered that the Euro market would be more conservative about accepting new naming system is difficult to say but it's why there's very few B-80s about. Will be publishing the list of Amnor models and serials soon - watch this space! BTW could you confirm the serial number please James as it's hard to read with 100% accuracy from the photo. Thanks Andy

1 pointProject now completed! Armed with hub caps that had arrived from Glen in the US and a decal from Mark (meadowfield), put the finishing touches to the little dump cart. Took it out for a photo, looks better still now with the caps and decal. Assembled the larger cart. Added the decals which include the original dealer sticker (thanks for doing that one for me Mark). Hitched the trailer up behind the D-200 which came out of hibernation specially. Not bad when you think what I started with. And took this cart out into the fields for a couple of photos. Inca (the horse) gave a nod of approval before I put it away. I'm well pleased with how both carts have come out though it has to be said I could have restored a tractor in the time that it's taken to do these. Thanks to all who've kept an eye on the progress and provided so much positive feedback. Andy

1 pointA piece of 3/8" rubber fuel line slit the long ways placed between the rim & the spoon works wonders for saving the edges . Hmmmm... should add that one to "Garage tips-n- tricks"

1 pointSo, I get home yesterday and there is a package on the front porch. Nothing new there, both my daughter and my wife are addicted to QVC...but this package has my name on it. I wasn't ready for this... OK...so I open it up to find this... Holy VCR's Batman... No note inside to say who it was from...but in the label on the package was a clue. "Reference Brian Marion". It's from Buckrancher!!! WOW!!! How did he know, this is just what the doctor ordered?? How did he know that only 1 in 6 people still have a VCR...and I am one of them?? Did he send them to me to rewind them?? I can't wait to get into watching them. Thanks Brian and Jo...this is great...worth it's weight in homemade wine in June. You have just saved a horse owner from insanity this season. Thank You!!!

1 pointI showed the wife this today and guess what...she had never seen the "Giant Claw"...are you kidding me!! She will not be able to say that again. Burritos, Margaritas, and Snuggies...and the fire place Friday night. Life is excellent. You know...this has been a tough winter for all of us...good friends, good food, good stories, good shows coming up...the light is at the end of the tunnel, and the days are getting longer. I thank all of you for your support and friendship. Thanks Brian and Jo.. BTW...check out "Humanoids from the Deep"...Doug McClure...one of my favorite "B" movies...I think it is on U-Tube...you just have to check it out... "The Giant Claw"...is maybe the movie where it all started...WOW!!!
-
1 pointI think he means wings for the snow plow. Cycle country has them for atv plows. Might have to try them or have my Fabricator buddy make me some. http://www.cyclecountry.com/products/plow-accessories/plow-wing.html

1 pointEmission constraints didn't kill Onan by themselves. Onan could not produce EPA approved engines as cheaply as foreign competitors. Eventually they could not compete and dropped the small engine lines. The EPA is partly to blame, but those of US that went for cheaper alternatives shoulder some responsibilty as well. Rant finished! :)
