6 pointsSome new pics with my father doing some work for me with the D-180. Must say that it’s a true work horse and it did a great job! It moved a lot of heavy road material this afternoon and actually even ripped up the asphalt with the new tires at some places! =) 27 x 8.5 -15†Skid Steer tires at rear on 7x15†rims and 4.00 x 10†at front on 3.5x10†rims and homefabbed hubs. I have now also connected the hydraulic pump under the tractor to the pto with a driveshaft. Works really well and I can still also use the pto at the front! Next project on this tractor is to fix a foot-hydro control. That would be a great thing together with the loader!

3 pointsI'll tell you how it happened....I was in my shed tonight, a guy who bought a tractor of mine a couple years ago brought it over so I could tune it up and give it the once over....I started counting my tractors....and I was a bit shocked to realize how my heard has ballooned!!!!!!! As some of you know, I worked on a 69 Roadrunner all winter a year ago, and now I'm finishing my basement. Well, I haven't had time to sell many horses, but have kept collecting. My herd has quietly (depending on who you ask ) grown to 23. Hopefully this summer I can thin it out to a bit more manageable number like 15 or so....we'll see. Never been addicted to anything like this in my entire life....other than my wife!!!!!

2 pointsWe agree -- very sweet tractor HOWEVER -- since it will be a struggle for it to do an acre you'd better post in the classifieds for 1/2 of what you paid for it and get out from underneath it now before it's too late to do so !!

2 pointsMy primary mower is my JD 425 with a 48" mulching deck. My backup is my '79 C-101 with a 42" SD deck (not pictured). I took off the blade last weekend and mounted the mower deck and then mowed my 3/4 acre of yard. I haven't mowed with the C-101 for 3 years, and it did great.

2 pointsPlowing a back yard for the first time is tough. Tree roots and what not. Go slower, get some AG's and fill them with fluid. And hang some suitcase weights off of the front did you set the plow up before using it?. This manual will show you how to set up the plow. http://www.brinly.com/graphics/manuals/PP_51BH.pdf

1 pointWell, I've talked about it and thought about it a lot, and inspired by some of bobs fantastic creations and a few others I finally got started. For those who are wondering what the hell I'm on about here's a few of my faves - there's a doe triple d there too built by Simon here in the UK. The idea of a 4x4 wheel horse attracts me as well as the fact I like big tractors and the oversize ags that go with them. I've a big pile of spares and a Raider 10 minus the engine that looks like a start point Here's the first prototype.... It's a bit weak on power and steering - as well as a few other obvious omissions . This actually let's me see how the transmissions sit. This is more what I'm thinking though.... So armed with two gearboxes, I started the measurements and plans....

1 pointI am on a quest for an enclosed trailer. I started looking for a 6x14 but was told 5 tractors would be too much weight. So next was a 7x14 tandem axle, I figure I can get 5 in, for a couple hundred more I could go 7x16 and get 6 plus attachments. Main use will be for storage, also going to shows with a place to sleep. Most used trailers here are overpriced or pretty rusty. Confusion is starting to set in, want to do it right the first time. Show me what you are using. Thanks Tom

1 pointWell gents, I solved the problem and it was really dumb. There's a red wire that runs from the ignition switch to the solenoid and it helps if you place it on the same terminal that the battery cable it connected too!!! For some reason I placed it on the same terminal that the starter cable was on and DUH, no voltage gets to the ignition. I made the switch today and sure enough, with the ignition switch turned on the headlights came on and the engine would crank over. So thanks again for all the help and if I figure out how to wire an IDIOT light onto my forehead, I'll put up a picture. Cod

1 pointProbably cheaper to just buy another with a good battery already in it. Less bodies to account for.

1 pointI just picked up a small Sherline hobby mill machine. Sometime this year, I will be shaving the aluminum casing off one of these Onan style regs to see what's inside. Stay tuned.

1 pointWow !! It's looking great. I should be very proud of the all the work you've put into bringing that tractor back to life.
-
1 pointEd, the orientation of the two AC leads on the RR only matters when the tractor has a tachometer. Without a tachometer in use, the AC terminals can be interchanged without any issues. The tach wire must be connected to the AC terminal NOT shorted to the B+ terminal, If you do hook the tach signal to the wrong AC terminal, no harm done, Just interchange both AC connections at the RR and the tach will work.

1 pointMaybe tire chains and better set-up on the plow. The disc did an awesome job. You "got er dun". Good luck on the garden , and don't forget to add plenty of HORSE manure. for sharing the video.

1 pointActually, it runs on tea! He's looking at the tea meter to see if it's empty! That guy is MUDSHARK Mike, and that's the slowest vehicle he has ever worked on. At least until he puts a blower on it & some nitro in with the tea! That tractor isn't his, but he does own a 604 & GT 14. I will see if I can find a pic of his last toy & add it to my gallery also.

1 pointWell, currently the plan is to get there on Thursday to get one of those camping sites with electricity. Logistically it's a little challenge because it's also my kids Finals week, so there's some planning to do. I hope to be able to get everyone there, but will likely end up with just a few. My biggest concern is being too late for a camping site with electricity, my generator is too loud and I really don't want to run it!

1 pointGood Video! I was impressed at how strong the 10hp Kohler is. I love to see the 310's at work. Thank you and Dad for sharing

1 pointAmazing! It's absolutely amazing what is possible to do because of the high tech computer modeling in 3D and the ability to measure electronically with lasers in this millennium. Manufacturing large modular components for installation someplace else continues to move to a higher level.

1 pointNice tractor! Greater Cleveland Tire has the tri ribs in a 4.00-8 size. I just bought a pair. They do look good with the ag tires on the rear.

1 pointI don't know what rules/laws are different on your side of the pond.......... I just found out yesterday that if I am a member ($10 fee) to one of the area clubs, I am automatically covered at their shows....Otherwise, you have to have $500.000 liability insurance......For $10, I am now a card carrying member!

1 pointAt the height of my collecting I had 17 tractors at one time and they were all in either my workshop or garage. I probably have had over 50 in total. I refused to let them sit outside in the weather. It got to a point that I could no longer do any work in my shop or get anything in or out of the garage without moving tractors around. That's when I knew I would have to solve my addiction problem. It killed me do it but I started to sell off my prize tractors. As time went by, it got easier and I realized that because of my property (house is built into a hillside and a very small yard) I could no longer have a collection. I'm kind of an all or nothing guy so I decided that collecting for me was over. It sucks because I really enjoyed it especially the hunt! I even sold off my beloved Senior (but that's a whole other story I don't care to think about!). I'm down to just 2 now. My first RJ which I put 6 months or restoration into and a lot of money I'll never get back and my diesel Lawn Ranger which I have a ton of hours into and just love! I won't ever sell these as I bring them to the local shows and tractor parades. I sometimes give some guys (especially SteveBo) a hard time when they buy another tractor but in reality I'm just depressed and jealous that I can't do the same. I could but I think it was worse for me when I did have more. I think for now I have found the best balance. Just my $.02

1 pointIt's been quite a while since I last did and serious panel fabrication out of thin steel, and as I'm "breaking in" a new MIG welder I thought I'd start on something easy to get back into the swing of things.. The sides of the hood. Off came what little remained of the trim molding thingy... Nice to see only surface rust hiding under the trim.. A quick clean up to see how up the rust had gone.. Not too far as it happens, once again a decal had saved the day I've no idea what this length of thin steel is from, or even how it came to be in the shack.. But it is the same thickness as the Ranger hood, which was handy. The first repair patch was cut to size and clamped gently to the side of the hood so I could make out where to cut.. The masking tape was stuck to the hood first so I could clearly see the pencil marks.. Patch one welded in.. I still need to do a little welding and shaping but it's almost there.. Patch two tack welded in place.. By the end of the day my nice clean bench looked like this

1 pointSpotted this in the local Shopping Centre Car Park and had to get a few pics. It's only a light weight thing and modern, but it must be pretty handy for clearing light snow fall on the exposed parking areas and Ramps and Salt/Grits at the same time. Obviously it had no use this last winter. Couldn't get a decent shot of it, as some dipstick had parked right next it in a virtually empty Carpark. Honda Powered with Hydraulics and central pivot Body.

1 pointThanks for the encouraging words. Much appreciated. Well, its time for another update. I got the wheel weights painted, and on the tractor. While not as nice as OE wheel weight, they're very functional, and look decent. I'm currently running 115 pounds per wheel. I took the tractor out for a good workout today. We decided to expand the garden, and I decided to give the Brinly plow a go. This ground has never been broken before, and our soil is very, very hard to plow, till, etc.. Not to mention, this is the area we have been parking a big class A RV in the past, so it was well packed. While the plow works great, the tractor had a hard time keeping the plow moving. It did it, but it didn't like it! The pics below are of the hard packed soil. After that, I ran the plow through an area that had been broken last year, and it ran down through that like nothing. After breaking the ground with the plow, we hooked the tiller up, and finished it off. I also took a short clip of it tilling. I've ordered a hydraulic flow control valve for this Case, to help with tilling, and such. On Case Garden tractor, the travel control doesn't just increase/decrease speed, it also increases, decreases hydraulic pressure, so when your trying to go slow for tilling, your not putting much power to the ground either, so when you try to slow down, it ends up stopping, so you push the lever farther forward it goes to fast. Its very annoying, especially when your used to working with a that has an 8 speed. Gotta love those low gears on a Horse. Anyway, the travel control I ordered will allow a very slow ground speed, while still maintaining maximum power to the ground. I'll try to get a better video soon. Thanks Matt

1 pointHi Tbone, I think most small sub-compact loaders need a 1000 to 1500 PSI pump pressure to run a loader adequately. I doubt if the Sundstrand tranny in a GT14 can push that much PSI with the volume needed to run a loader.
