10 pointsLucky you got your addiction the right way round ,you could have ended up with 23 wives
-
5 pointsI'll tell you how it happened....I was in my shed tonight, a guy who bought a tractor of mine a couple years ago brought it over so I could tune it up and give it the once over....I started counting my tractors....and I was a bit shocked to realize how my heard has ballooned!!!!!!! As some of you know, I worked on a 69 Roadrunner all winter a year ago, and now I'm finishing my basement. Well, I haven't had time to sell many horses, but have kept collecting. My herd has quietly (depending on who you ask ) grown to 23. Hopefully this summer I can thin it out to a bit more manageable number like 15 or so....we'll see. Never been addicted to anything like this in my entire life....other than my wife!!!!!

5 pointsAlways hangin' tough here... regardless of which way the weather decides it wants to go.

4 pointsBought this at an auction from a moving company. Guy moved to California and left it behind. Put oil in it, cleaned the varnish out of the carb, and it fired right up. I put it to work often.
-
4 pointsAt the height of my collecting I had 17 tractors at one time and they were all in either my workshop or garage. I probably have had over 50 in total. I refused to let them sit outside in the weather. It got to a point that I could no longer do any work in my shop or get anything in or out of the garage without moving tractors around. That's when I knew I would have to solve my addiction problem. It killed me do it but I started to sell off my prize tractors. As time went by, it got easier and I realized that because of my property (house is built into a hillside and a very small yard) I could no longer have a collection. I'm kind of an all or nothing guy so I decided that collecting for me was over. It sucks because I really enjoyed it especially the hunt! I even sold off my beloved Senior (but that's a whole other story I don't care to think about!). I'm down to just 2 now. My first RJ which I put 6 months or restoration into and a lot of money I'll never get back and my diesel Lawn Ranger which I have a ton of hours into and just love! I won't ever sell these as I bring them to the local shows and tractor parades. I sometimes give some guys (especially SteveBo) a hard time when they buy another tractor but in reality I'm just depressed and jealous that I can't do the same. I could but I think it was worse for me when I did have more. I think for now I have found the best balance. Just my $.02

3 pointsI'll be using my 417-8. She has just under 2000 hrs. on the clock but still runs plenty strong! I'm looking forward to the seat time. Pushing snow is okay but I'd much rather be cuttin grass....

2 pointsThanks Mike.. Your wife is quite on the ball if it only takes here days to notice a new monkey, it would take my wife months Thanks Steve, it's a shame the 1st few photo's were naff, I didn't take the good camera as I didn't think spring would be so far advanced!! The bluebells are early this year! Hi Dave, I've never seen fish in that stream, but I do know where the badgers go for a drink now. There is a set not far away. It is indeed Craig. No idea how long it has been there, quite a long time looking at the state of it.. It would be nice to get down there and grab some photo's of the bridge in the mist as the sun starts burning through. Cheers Guy's You can sort of blame the clock thing on Tony Hawks.... I was reading one of his books "around Ireland with a fridge", and at some point when the fridge is sitting on a bar stool in a pub someone says "It's sure nice to see it out of context".. Which made me laugh as I could see where he was coming from.. Back in the shack I was having a bit of a tidy up when I found the clock.. Looking for somewhere to put it I thought the shack is not the normal place to find one of these free standing clocks and thus "A clock out of context" sprung to mind... At some point much later when I was able to walk any distance I had found the bridge while out for a wander and all of a sudden I could see the clock about to jump off it.. The rest as they say is mad history

2 pointsThe long patch on the side of the hood is now fully welded on and ground back... The final straightening of the edges can wait until all the welding is done and the hood has been through the E-tank... The welds showing on the insides will get a good tidying up as well. A lot of time has been spent working out how best to remake the lower part of the hood front.. In the end as is my style I just grabbed a bit of flat steel and went for it The corner patches are over sized at the mo and the shape is almost there.. I won't be able to do the final shaping until I've cut the rotten corners away.... Gulp! Fresh steel is over rated.. All the base of the hood needed was a quick squirt with primer to make it as good as new Ok, maybe not. But the primer did give me a surface I could see pencil marks on.. Very handy as I was about to mark this corner out for cutting. Gulp 1.. The patch is very close to the shape it needs to be. Gulp 2.. The rest comes off after welding on the first patch. Both corners on.. Nope the masking tape isn't a bodge, it's a good way of making templates. Ta-daa The lip this end of the bottom grill holes needs a little tweak, but I'm reasonably happy with how it's going. Thanks

2 points"Thanks guys. The Mrs came home. I am still alive. Lol. She said to me was this planned? I said no. It just happened. Like when we met hon." Permission to use that line in the future?!?

2 pointsYea, no grass visible here either, just snow. My sump pump has just started running quite often so the frost must be breaking under the snow however. It's raining hard here now but supposed to clear up and be sunny and warm this weekend (+10C or +50F) so that should knock the snow down. Adding to the fleet this weekend, more on that later. Cleat

2 pointsLove the clocks! I do something similar with stuffed beanie baby monkees. My wife loves the little critters we got like 18 of them now. Whenever I find another one, I'll stick it somewhere she frequents and it will be staring at her for days until she finally sees it. It will be a foot away and she looks right past it while I try to hold the laughter back.

1 pointThank you so much for following along. I appreciate you taking the time each week to check in and see what is going on. We were able to get back to work on the machine this week. Unfortunately we were delayed a bit because tools were misplaced. Due to the down time I had a small issue with a few of the boys getting restless which led to some horseplay. Of course that doesn't mix well within a shop setting. One young man somehow bounced his head off the edge of the oil pan that was on a cart. He ended up with a good little goose egg. The young man received a stern talk and the parents were made aware of the incident. I have a good feeling that this behavior will not happen again! Due the fact that we had some unfortunate hiccups at the beginning of club, I neglected to snap some photos. I did haul up my 603 that I have been wanting to redo. I am letting the kids tear it apart. I will pay for everything on this one, have it blasted and powder coated, and then let the kids put it back together. This will keep more hands busy which will help distract from unnecessary horseplay. This one will have a special place in my collection. We are now on Spring Break so the next update will not be until the 16th. Thanks so much for following along! Here is the 603 before they started tearing it down.

1 pointSo, Today was a nice day, So i figured I would take some time to fool with the 's As of today I own a 1988 211-5, a 1986 310-8, and my newest addition, a 1982 C-105. 1 pointI got 14" of snow last night. There won't be any grass this year. I'm going to hibernate under a deep snowpile, and dream of using my '91 520 with the 60" deck in 2015. Good thing I did't take the snowthrower off yet.

1 pointNice collection! Those little 200 series will do more work than you think. I had a 90 210-H that I owned or 20 yrs and mowed.plowed and blew snow with hardly any problems. There is a little inline fuse/diode that goes to the clutch that may have failed. It went on mine and the PTO stopped working. I think it was a 38 dollar part # 113977 is the diode service kit for your model.

-
1 pointWow Glenn, that's a really nice one! Congrats! I'd be very surprised if you don't find that tractor to be your new favorite. You're lucky to have found one in such nice shape with low hours, good looks, and a bagged. Good luck with that one! Steve

1 pointWhat we are dealing with is trying to get is Efficient Heat Transfer as Ed and Kyle mentioned Dirt and Blocked Fins grass clippings or whatever is the NO #1 thing that causes heat build up. You can do all the Lover cutting fabrication or whatever you want and that stuff is miniscule and secondary if you cant get the air across these metal parts. After your engine is clean Yes by all means vent the Belt Guard with a louver. I have delt with Heat Transfer for 36 Years now as an HVAC contractor And the main thing we stress is Equipment being Clean whether it being a Condenser Coil, Evaporator Coil, A Blower, Or heat exchanger. Any part that comes in contact with heat that needs to be transferred away internally or externally needs to be clean these same principals apply to our engines. All the Engine tins that direct airflow over the heads need to be secure and in place along with the Gasket around the oil filter. ~Duke
