I just bought this tractor earlier this week. It was said to have a bad motor , major leaking, and needed a rebuild. The deck was just rebuilt 2 years ago with all new spindles , paint, blades , and reinforced. I have since fixed the leaking and have her runnin really well for the most part. Just a little miss when revving up to different RPMS. I got the engine back in today and presher washed the tractor. All gauges work and the hydro seams strong as well. Im looking forward to using this beast. It was garage kept all its life except for this winter because the PO bought a zero turn and had no room in the garage. I am glad he sold it , instead of leaving it rust away. Its safe to say I got an awsome deal considering the shape shes in and the engine now runs. What do you guys think... Morning Everyone, A few months back I brought this cart/trolley off a friend who had only used it as a table in his shed for years and not for it's real purpose, he had nailed a divan bed base to the floor to make it a little longer, when I caught eyes on it, i popped the question and asked how much would he let it go for... After a bit of thinking and discussion, we settled on a price and so be it I was then leaving and going home with this cart. So far all I've managed to do is sort out the hitch so it can be pulled behind the horse or cubcadet, and cut the floor, weld four corners in, and the tailgate latches, I now need to buy done nice wood for the front sides and back, make the tailboard up with the hinges, buy two new tyres as they are odd, and then paint, paint, paint, although I haven't quite settled on a colour yet... The wood will be stained, but I'm not sure of what colours to paint the frame, Yes... My welding isn't none to good, but it holds and once it's painted it should look alright.... This is the cart in the sorry state I purchased it in, Cutting the floor Removing the handles

Update. She is back together. She fired right up and NO leaks . So the crank brearing plate was loose and all I did was tighten it down. It also had the wrong size oil filter. I even went and bought a crank seal and bearing plate gasket today thinking I could not get that lucky. It does not leak a drop! Now I am left with a tiny little miss. I drained the old gas and put fresh gas in it today. Hopefully some running will fix the problem. If not , I will be opening her up anyway for a good tune up and clean up. I just don't have the time for a least a few weeks till my remodel is done for all that work. Thanks everyone

I am going to look at a pond walk behind tomorrow and it comes with a modified snow plow, cultivator and land plow. I was wondering if the plow and cultivator would work with a wheel horse slot hitch? Also does anyone know fair market value for the tractor and implements? Tractor has replacement motor and runs but needs work.

I picked up this 702 Wheel Horse Tractor last fall and I have decided to restore and keep the tractor. I will be selling the Sickle Mower that came with it. The tear down was done over the winter (did not take to many pictures of this). Began sandblasting and powder coating a couple weeks ago (pictures of this are on the way). I will also post pictures as I reassemble. Hope you enjoy. Donnie

So I logged onto craigslist this morning... just surfing... should have been working Did my usual Wheel horse wheelhorse search and I found a 314-8 (73449) with 169 hours.... original family owned it... for $500 Seat is perfect, everything works... just has that grass cutting patina on it... How do I spell SWEET?? Easy.. STEAL A WHEEL HORSE on a Thursday afternoon... Yes, I paid full price, didn't even try to negotiate.... Taking it home now to wash it.. (really needs that) and explain to momma what a smart guy she married... hope she listens just a bit before I get, "the look".. But hey, she benefitted all winter long from the plowing my '74 C-160 Auto did.... and this one is so quiet I might get her back to an occasional afternoon mow! --- that's about the best I can hope for from her in the afternoon anymore... Okay... had to share!

I use PayPal to ship everything. PayPal and eBay offer discount shipping through most carriers. When using PayPal, you can choose any shipping option including Parcel Select which replaced Parcel Post. Up to a certain weight, Parcel Select is your best option, then Priority Mail is cheaper. And with Priority Mail, many size boxes are free, you can have them shipped to your house, and you can schedule the carrier to come to your door to pick up the outgoing packages.

Sunrise red here - I was a big fan of Valspar til it died. I have found the Rustoleum to be very available - wally world, home depot... - inexpensive, comes in rattle can or bulk and I thinkis a pretty forgiving paint. Takes about 24hrs to handle, but really needs several days to dry dry and then is pretty bomb proof. Frankly I'm a bit surprised at the number of Rustoleums users here - wasnt long ago most of these would be TSC/Valspar users (including me) Here a couple of Sunrise red with almond wheels...

Okay guys... Sorry for the delay... but I did not get her washed up until this evening... Here are the pics of my buy of the year... (** hub caps just happened to already be in my shed, I really think they definitely work with this tractor !)... *and thanks to you for all your replies! One more pic.. Sorry.. hit send too soon.. here is the last one..

The Rustoleum Regal Red hasn't been hurt, damaged, or run at all when subject to a gas spill. I do prepare the surfaces (sanding 'n elbow grease) and find the Rustoleum holds up well. I always coat at least twice. I prefer the (I guess) deep red, Regal Red. Most always on the shelf at Home "Cheapo." Foot rests, heavy duty skateboard tape and new decals from the Vinyl Guy!

Regal Red. Easy to work with, I use the rattle cans. Sometimes I coat with clear crystal after the Rustoleum Regal Red has dried for a few days..or longer. Foot rests get skateboard heavy duty grip tape. Great stuff!

Managed to pick up a magnum 16 last night as an alternative to 'borrowing' the k series from my C-161. Very clean and tidy, high hours - from a Toro reel mower, but running and cheap.. 50 quid! It's still in the wheel well of my car.

I live next county over. No injuries reported. It was a quaint little town and some of the buildings are from the 1800's. I had no idea there was a WH dealer there. Maybe I should get smart enough to ask some members here. My dad bought what we think was the last WH at the little shop in our town. I know I bought the last set of wheelweights. The poor old owner sold everything got.cancer and passed away. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

Kyle, I'm happy you got it going. it certainly looks like a nice tractor and for what you paid for it, a really good deal. in regards to your ? on the valve seat, while I've never heard one running with a valve seat issue, i would think you would be down on power and it would probably sound like it is missing on one cylinder. compression check would show it too..... almost no time involved in hooking up a comp gauge to check cylinder compression and compare. it doesn't that much to pull the heads and decarbon (which you should do anyway) you can check out the valve seats at the same time. do a valve adjustment as well, easy that way..... plus (if you haven't already), clean out any junk behind the tins. all of this is easiest with the engine off the tractor, but can be done with it in place. a set of head gaskets and some valve box gaskets and you would have some important preventative maintenance done. these engines are worth a bit of tlc to get them running right and keep them that way. best place to get valve box and head gaskets would be onanparts.com. the head gaskets 110-3181 run $10 each and the valve box gaskets 110-3709 are $3.95 each http://onanparts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_7_22&products_id=17 http://onanparts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_7_22&products_id=24 i kept up with your oil leak thread and I'm happy to see another one saved by just a little work.......

It was owned by a retired gentlemen. He took top notch care of everything. The seat is flawless except for the binding "not sure what its called" that holds the material on the pan is coming loose. I was hoping I can repair the seat by pulling the material and pushing the binding back on. I agree with the ride being kind of high up. I have some hilly parts and it felt like I was going to roll off the seat. I think I will do something like you mentioned. Yes , I think its time I change my avatar. I want to put all my horses in a line and snap a photo. Then I will take my john deere down. Its been nice having it up because it reminds me I should pull her out of storage and stretch her wheels. Just havent had time with this new house mess. The 520h is all original beleive it or not. There is only a few tiny places where the paint has flaked off here and there. Also a dent smack dab in the middle of the headlights. Its funny because it almost looks like it belongs there. I thinks with a good buffing , wax , decals , and repaint the black on the hood, it will turn this into a real nice original tractor. The rear has no grease or oil leaks and looks like the day it rolled out of the factory. It came on craigslist I think Monday night and I was loading it in the truck on tuesday. At $300 , I knew it wouldnt last long. Hours are a little high, right around 1000. But everything is super tight. Like the hydro release lever, no play at all.

I have the same tractor in excellent shape with only 280 hours on the clock. She runs really strong. I recently took off all the "extra" sliding hardware under the seat and installed a new lower seat on just the "c" springs and the ride is much better with a lower center of gravity. Now you just need to change your avitar....

Did you put the right switch in?? the plugs are the same but not all switches are is that a Magnum engine? if so you need a magneto switch, if it's a K series engine you need a batt ign. switch,

Don't know if this helps but on a truck I worked on once the main ground was loose. When someone tried to start it the entire starter circuit grounded through the puny little body ground wires and burned them. On another note, A car with a loose main ground arced at the loose connection and the spark jumped to the clutch cable and burned it in half. Check your main ground cable!!

The rollpin is in the donut and shifter shaft and the donut fills the hole in the transmission case so the pin can't get out until the shifter is pulled clear of the transmission case. Garry

I want to first off thank all the folks here on this board for helping me with my project. My wifes grandfather passed away in 1989 and this tractor had sat in a pasture since the 70's. He purchased it new from the dealer and as some pictures show, he completely "farmerized" numerous pieces. He somehow installed a power steering pump, heat shields, and other items to just make it work. I was able to finish this project this weekend and give it back to a stunned mother-in-law and father-in-law. I tried to leave parts and pieces in original-ish form, but obviously had to fix others. You have all been so kind and generous with your time and answers. I have never worked on cars, or farm implements. I borrowed tools, asked questions, and for the first time in my life listened to advice. I am the epitome of someone who had never even heard of Wheel Horse 4four months ago. Sure there was some money spent, but this has been very fullfilling. My favorite parts were the heat shield that I was able to design to use her grandparents names, the id tag which is his birthday, and the engine tag that I had done so that it showed his DOB/DOD on it so nobody would forget. I told them the only rule was this has to be used, driven, played with, wrecked, fixed, used. It is not allowed to sit in the garage and looked at. I used rattle cans, so that if there is a scratch, we can just touch it up and put it out to be played with again. I will probably never own a Wheel Horse again, but I would like to think the knowledge you guys gave me, will stick with me. I feel like one of Ken's kids in the Tractor Club! Enjoy the pics. I have some before and afters, and a few of my wife back in 1975 playing on the tractor with her grandparents. There were plenty of tears shed yesterday when I unveiled it. I told them I just was going to get the engine to run, they had no idea. I know this board's motto is "pics, pics, pics"! so here you go. sorry the pics were so small, I needed to make them small to fit so many...

Even the 1979 operator manuals and ipl's are different for the 01 and 02 and this happened to all but the C-111 8-spd and C-161 8-speed. The only automatics to use 01 and 02 are the C-161 Twin autos. In 1986 Toro took over and all model numbers got bumped up. I suspect the early was produced by Wheel Horse and the later by Toro and this is how they distinguish who made what. Garry

Nice build quality Charlie I think in WH terms with two axles it would be a 'wagon'. Re colour, obviously its a case of each to his own. My personal preference is not to paint everything that's not actually WH in origin red. So my Agrifab cultivator stayed black and my spray boom (origin unknown) is yellow, a Westwood trailer stayed orange. I just think it looks more like the real world of big tractors where attachments aren't always by the manufacturer of the tractor. Just my Andy

The 6x6 has been having a bit of a quiet life of late, just moving it in and out the Workshack as an when I need some extra space.. The weather hasn't helped.. Even though the 6x6 would of handled the amount of water and mud around the fields, I didn't want to upset the dog walkers, some of whom for some reason hadn't spoken to me since Rob, Nigel and myself churned the place up in the above video!! But with the weather taking a turn for the better and spring well and truly here, the ground has dried out (mostly) and once again the 6x6 has roamed the landscape putting fear into rabbits and startling pigeons

Ok here is what I believe will be on the trailers........ I will not throw out any prices as I need to go through some of the stuff first. Tractors: GT 2500 B-111 Possibly a Work Horse This list of tractors may grow within the next month Motors: 12 h.p. Kohler 6 h.p. Kohler Maybe a couple more and/or parts for more Snowblowers: Various blowers in all different conditions Mower decks: Many different conditions Hoping to have a few real good ones (42") that are ready to mow Snow plows: No long frames available but may have some springs, quadrants, angle levers, and some blades if I have room and there is interest. Currently working on some other deals and will update the list accordingly. Pictures will start to trickle in within the next couple of weeks. I believe my landscape trailer will be a "name your price" sale. I don't want any of it to come home......that means empty!!! I am willing to deal, so bring cash and let's have fun!

If you are referring to the old cast aluminum fuel pumps, there is a company that makes a kit. However, there are some metal fuel pumps that just can't be rebuilt. Before ordering a kit, take yours apart and be sure that you can remove the little one-way valves, and that the area where they sit is not so corroded that a new kit will not seal. The company is Maritime, http://www.maritimedragracing.com/antique_auto_parts_cellar.htm

I put the crank center line in the same location also. I raised the Vanguard 7/8" to get the right height with two 1/2" x 2" flat bars and a 3/8" plate under the engine. I also used the standard C-120 belts and belt guard unmodified. I also have two washers behind each bolt on the PTO bracket as I modified the original engine mounting holes. I also used a spacer behind the PTO in the crank shaft. I did drill two new holes in the battery box and turned the battery around to move the battery post to the rear. I also sawed a 2" hole in the gas tank tray and have to remove the gas tank to change the rear spark plug. Rotated the solenoid switch up as far as possible on the starter to clear the battery. As I have said before it's a tight fit on a C-120. I needed the pressure oil system as my yard is far from level. By back yard slopes 16' in 200' with a few 35 degree slopes thrown in. The front is some what better with slopes on the upper and lower sides.
