Hello all my name is Ryan and I live in Gobles MI. Just bought a wheel horse 633 and would like to hear what you have to say about it???? I'm new to WH as I collect AC and Simplicity tractors but my wife likes the WH's so she now has 1. I need some parts for the recoil as it does not catch when pulled over. Any help would be great. This is my wifes 1st wheel horse and she plans on doing a total restoration on it herself.

It has been attempted many times but usually ends up in an electronic fist fight. The only definite way to value most of this stuff is multiply how much it weighs by the current scrap price. Beyond scrap price, "worth" can only be determined on how much someone is willing to pay. Back when the interest / demand was low, prices were much lower. Now that more hands are reaching for that "last cookie in the jar", people are paying crazy prices for tractors in worse condition than ones I would have junked 10-15 years ago.

I found this old picture of my original collection. This picture was taken just before the 2002 WHCC show. Since this picture was taken I have figured out I have bought and sold 23 WH tractors ....but Im happy to report these original six are still in the garage plus two more ...a RJ59 and a 633. These kids are little "bigger" too .... Bob T

Runs good $450 Runs extra good $500 Runs super extra good, good tires and no fluid leaking around the lift cylinder or hoses $550 More than that and there better be a good story behind it.

Not to be a smart ass here, but I don't consider ANY tractor that runs to be a parts machine.Like every thing else in life.....it is what it is.If you maintain tat series one and keep it full of oil,I think they're fine.Hell, buy something brand new and don't take care of it.......few years it will be a piece of crap too.Just my 10 cents worth.

Starting to think RS should have a topic heading for what's It Worth Wheel Horse Values. Maybe put some pinned pictures in for comparisons for People that just joine RS for trying to get an idea what there tractor is worth. This topic is almost as popular as Onan exhaust valve issue.

got the flywheel bolted down, screen on. the oil filter and drip tray installed. heads installed with new bolts, replated washers and new gaskets, part # 110-3181. then it was time to build the engine harness. cut all my lengths first, i cut two of everything as i might make up another to sell. wire is 14 ga. tinned marine wire. started building it from the molex connector. crimped terminals on on end of all 9 wires that go to it and pushed them home in the connector. once i worked out where each wire went, i taped them off into their branches. used high temp fiberglass sheathing to cover the wire. then i started installing the harness to make sure the fit was good. ends of the fiberglass sheathing were covered with heat shrink to seal up the ends as well as stop the fiberglass from coming apart. i changed the ends of the oil sender harness to packard single terminal connectors instead of the non insulated push on terminals. installed blower housing and bracket for retrofit onan coil kit part #541-0522. coil, plug wires, regulator installed and wiring hooked up.....

Once again, it's never too early to be thinking about the BIG SHOW. June 21st is not that far away, and with the winter we have had, it can't come too soon. So, are you coming this year, and what will you be bringing? Will you be showing tractors, or bringing stuff to sell, or both? Maybe you are just coming to look and mingle. I am hoping to bring my B-100, 701, Commando 8, and 857. I might also have a couple of Lawn Rangers, a B-100, and C-120 to sell. Don't forget to take a look at the printed schedule when you get there to see when the RedSquare group pictures will be taken. Don't know who's in charge of the picture this year, but Steve did a great job last year. So let's get some BIG SHOW enthusiasm going.

I got started restoring my Dad's Raider 12 this week. We are going for the show room look. This will be the smallest tractor we have ever restored, it's kind of fun! Dad had started taking it apart before he passed but never got it finished. We will have before and after pics soon. I have been around Wheel Horse tractors all my life and used them and never paid them any mind, but boy have I been bitten by the Wheel horse bug now!

Hi everyone, would just like to introduce myself from Scotland and my newly acquired WH Lawn Ranger, This is my first WH and have been on the lookout for this style for a while, it was a 15hr round trip for me and my son to collect from south of England and we are pleased with it. We have restored a few other machines and have made up a small website to share with everyone, we will be adding the WH in the near future, but feel free to have a look www.myclassicvehicles.weebly.com Best regards, Kenny and wee ross

I want to first off thank all the folks here on this board for helping me with my project. My wifes grandfather passed away in 1989 and this tractor had sat in a pasture since the 70's. He purchased it new from the dealer and as some pictures show, he completely "farmerized" numerous pieces. He somehow installed a power steering pump, heat shields, and other items to just make it work. I was able to finish this project this weekend and give it back to a stunned mother-in-law and father-in-law. I tried to leave parts and pieces in original-ish form, but obviously had to fix others. You have all been so kind and generous with your time and answers. I have never worked on cars, or farm implements. I borrowed tools, asked questions, and for the first time in my life listened to advice. I am the epitome of someone who had never even heard of Wheel Horse 4four months ago. Sure there was some money spent, but this has been very fullfilling. My favorite parts were the heat shield that I was able to design to use her grandparents names, the id tag which is his birthday, and the engine tag that I had done so that it showed his DOB/DOD on it so nobody would forget. I told them the only rule was this has to be used, driven, played with, wrecked, fixed, used. It is not allowed to sit in the garage and looked at. I used rattle cans, so that if there is a scratch, we can just touch it up and put it out to be played with again. I will probably never own a Wheel Horse again, but I would like to think the knowledge you guys gave me, will stick with me. I feel like one of Ken's kids in the Tractor Club! Enjoy the pics. I have some before and afters, and a few of my wife back in 1975 playing on the tractor with her grandparents. There were plenty of tears shed yesterday when I unveiled it. I told them I just was going to get the engine to run, they had no idea. I know this board's motto is "pics, pics, pics"! so here you go. sorry the pics were so small, I needed to make them small to fit so many...

Took me a while to find decent specimens but its coming together. 3 different states and 2 years so far. Only looking for 1 more at the moment which is the rj35. But I'm happy. Wanted to share these pics. RJ58 does also have a deck( not pictured), Suburbans 550 and 551. I have a kohler on the 550 till I get the lauson running correctly.

Ed, I know you directed your question to Boo, but I looked in my manual to find the intakes are supposed to be at .005 and the exhaust at .013. Be sure you have the pistons at TDC on the compression stroke (valves completely closed) when you set them..................Gary

While you have it apart.......better adjust the valves on it! Now is the perfect time to do it with everything opened up! If your in a particularly jaunty mood...take the heads off and de-carbon the tops of each cylinder. You'll need to order a gasket set to do it but it is worth it in the long run. Again, since you have it torn down this far and time before snows and grass growing to do it!

Ryan: Those 633's are nice Wheel Horse tractors. My brother picked up one last year for $60 and we upgraded it a little. You will enjoy working on and using that tractor. Welcome to Red Square.

John - How are your fabrication skills?? The PS unit is nice you posted, but look into retrofitting a PS column out of a JD 318 GT. If you have the ability to do some cutting and welding these are very simple to shorten up and fit into a horse. The advantage of going with the JD column is the newer 318 tractors have a 5-port valve that would allow you to leave your midlift valve operational. You would need to switch the supply line that runs into the midlift and feed the PS column with it then use the 5th port which is power beyond on the PS column to feed back to the midlift supply inlet. I have done a conversion with the JD column on my C-195- and it works great.

Very nice tractors. Your boys will look back on these years and the photos and tell their children stories....Heck, those same WH tractors will probably be hauling your grand-children!

Thank you guys for the comments and support. I feel very fortunate to have the support of the school district as well as those in our community. Last night was a great time, even for the adults. I saw a few of the kids today and they said thank you for last night. That is the main reason why I do what I do.........glad to be able to share something that I enjoy with them. And you guys are right, the fun is just now beginning for them. Can't wait until next Wednesday!!!!

They are both doing great! She is a bit sore from a c section but hopefully coming home tomorrow. We were both thrilled that our 16mo old was really good with her. Thinking it's our last child but it's nice that we have one of each and all are healthy. Just amazing that something so great grows inside of someone. We are finally filling our bigger house that we bought a year and a half ago. Life is good!

I really appreciate all the positive comments. that's what makes red square such a great place to be apart of. it's not alot of them in one spot but we like them. my boys (twin 4 year olds) really like having tractors their size ! I'll open myself up for the punches and say I'm not much bigger than them, born in late 83'.

Get outta town. It was 45 degrees ABOVE zero here today. Ma even let the chickens out( they are probly wondering what that big yellow thing is in the sky). Snow went down a lot. Whats next FLOODING. Oh well, it was warm. I talked to one of the operators for a large excavating company this morning. He said he is seeing frost down close to 8'(yes, he said "FEET") in many places. Not good. But after 45+ days and nights well below zero, I suppose that would happen. Maybe, just maybe. It was cold enough, long enough, to freeze those dang mosquito's. Oh well, I live on a hill. Let it melt. I'll take warm.
