Here are a few pics of my center cap that I made for my 520H. The cap is aluminum and glued in place with silicone. Thanks goes out to Glenn Pettit and Terry Denis for getting me the logo to engrave the center cap.

In the past I used a C-81 with 42 inch wide snowplow blade to keep my driveway clear. That worked OK most of the time but it was too light for the big snow storms. I also used a 416H with single stage tall shoot blower which worked OK. I now use my Ariens 1034 two stage walk behind snow blower. That thing has the power and precision to put the snow anywhere I want it no mater how much there is. It is also a little easier to maneuver around things and I prefer to be on my feet rather than sitting down at least for clearing my driveway in the city. The back of the Ariens is in one of the earlier pictures I posted on this thread. At another property that i go to on weekends I use my D-160 with the snow blow blade. That thing has enough weight to it to push almost anything out of the way. I also have a 520HC there and a two stage blower but just have not taken the time to set it up. Maybe next year. I also prefer to keep the wear and tear down on my collection and keep them out of the weather as much as I. The winters have not been that bad here during the last few years and between the walk behind at one place and the D-160 at the other place I have been pretty well covered. Here are a few of my horses in their winter quarters with attachments removed and batteries out and on tenders. One of my C-175s is in the back on the left. I got a good deal on a drive in drive out snowmobile trailer. That is also the property where I use the D-160. I keep the D-160 under a tarp for now but I will build a shed for it and a few other tractors this summer.

Try starting up a free account with Youtube instead... I think you'll find it much easier to work with than Photobucket. Should be a setting on your new camera that enhances image stabilization too.

Only the Series II has the oil filter option. For the Wheel Horse application the port has a cover plate on it and it is in a tight spot for a filter right behind the PTO. A remote would be the best way to go if a filter is added. As long as the oil is changed regularly no filter should be needed. If the Series I is going to be run on inclines an extra pint or two of oil should be added to the crankcase. Some recommend extra oil no matter what the application is.
  27. 1 point
There is provision for an oil filter adapter on the engine on some of them, not sure if series 1 had them but my series 2 does. The adapters come up on eBay now and again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm pretty sure the pin goes through the middle hole. The tail of the mounting carriage should be on top of the pin.

Maybe we should send Dennis Rodman down there to escort Ole Nick home.

I fixed both of my engines with bushings from someone on ebay. I little drilling and new brass screws and less than $15 for both 14 & 16hp Kohlers. Great fix!

I made front & rear winch mounts for my WH. By pulling 1 pin, I pivot the winch mount forward, so I can raise the hood. The picture was taken, before I bolted an eye bolt at the top, for a pulley. Works great. In the rear I use it to raise a tine dethatcher, I use to collect pine cones and needles.

Someone said America will be a great nation until the politicians discover they can buy your vote with your own money. There are a lot of generous people in this country,I pray folks will see whats slipping away, before it is gone. The greatest country ever and people in high places are intent on making us just another country.

Craig, I would remove the original fender pan, wrap it in bubble wrap, and tuck it safely away somewhere. Only when its working days are done and its time to be a show Horse would I put the original fender pan back on.

Welcome to Red Square. There are a few people on this site that have the parts you need...start a thread in the "Wanted Section". You need to be careful which differential housing you get. You need to count the teeth on your bull gear and if your mushroom gear is OK, you need a differential housing with the same number of teeth as the one you have. There are 2 different teeth counts out there. If the other one comes along, then you need the matching mushroom gear for that differential housing. If you end up replacing both, then you have to see if you have a needle bearing or a ball bearing in the brake drum hole. Not hard or complicated, just want you to get the right parts the first time. The spider gears in both types of housings are the same...as are the axle gears (should they be bad). Here is a video showing and explaining what I am talking about...Plenty of help here on the forum, and that trans is very fixable. If you have any questions, just ask...I may be able to help you find the parts. http://s419.photobucket.com/user/stevasaurus/media/5010-2%20TRANSMISSION/2011_1102JAKESTRANNYS0001.mp4.html?sort=3&o=4

Yep, that's the fill plug. Oil capacity is 1 1/2 Qts. I usually fill through the gear stick hole so I can get more solvent in there to clean it all up, and it goes in a lot quicker and there is less of a chance of making a mess.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm very sorry to hear about the very frustrating issues your having with your crawler. I hate it when things go like that! I do realize that $300 seems cheap when thinking about the necessary work to fix the old ones, but when you don't have $300 you do what you have too. Thank the Lord, I'm not going to have to go threw that, as my friend has some good used ones he's sending me. Thanks Martin, I consider that a great compliment coming from you! I'm very happy to say my friend had a set of good used cast iron spindles assemblies he's sending me! This deck would have been sitting a long time if I would have had to spend $300 on it. Things have been a little tight here lately. I will put new bearings in the spindles when they get here, as they're only $3 a piece. I got to spend a little time working on the deck today. I welded in a new baffle, as well as a few other pieces that had been broke off. This really is a very strange deck design. I have pictures of other decks to go on, for verifying the missing pieces. I know the welds are very crude, but I'll clean them up. I also rewelded around some previous repairs, that were done poorly. Thanks Matt

Not to but I'm going to so hand me a stick! There isn't a good running 12 HP WH Garden Tractor that is going to be under-powered mowing a hilly lawn. Honestly Glenn, when you asked all of us for our opinions, we are giving you what we consider to be our best choices mostly based on us being in the seat of many different WH tractor/motor configurations. But if you were a golfer and asked a site full of Golf Pro's their opinion about a swing, well, if you took all their advice, you would be lucky to even hit the ball let alone keep in on the fairway! A 12 horse power Wheel Horse with a Magnum or K series engine in good running condition with a 42 inch deck will do what you need it to do for a long, long time. If you see a 312-8 or 312-H or a C120 8 speed in good condition for a good price, don't hesitate to buy it. Naturally a 14 horse power Kohler is even better! Many people start out Wheelhorse ownership with an Onan-powered monster with the so-called advanced electrical systems or a D series monster with their own set of issues and they can be nightmares to folks not accustomed to cursing and swearing, woops........I mean dealing with and working around problems that really don't exist with simpler-designed C-Series or Kohler powered 300 series tractors. Just keep this thought when looking: A 12 horsepower K or Magnum series motor in a WH Garden tractor will mow a hilly lawn. I know! I mowed a very hilly shale bank lawn that far exceeded the pitch to safely mow with a C-175 and a C-120. Both tractors mowed it just fine. Both tractors had similar 42 inch SD decks and which tractor paid the price for mowing across and up/down my lawn? My twin-powered C-175. (Needed a top-end rebuild due to oil starvation caused by the hills).

well the only one i ever sold i bought back the next year with lots of new parts & a giveaway price! last count was 27 horses with 10 used on a weekly basis

Sold a few regretted one, but I know where it is, have some that I don't know why I keep. I seem to buy junk and make it look like near new but that is Wheel Horse life on a budget. Most I ever paid for a single tractor was $200, Farthest driven was 500 miles (it was free.) Deals are out there but its a right time and place thing.

I got up to 7 and just did not have the room to hang on to them...down to 4 now and that is a good number for me. The ones I sold had Techumsehs on them... just kidding...they were good horses...they also had pull starts.

I don't know...sold my C-160 this year. Then, turned around and replaced it with another RJ, a 603, and now the 1267. So much for making a little room around here.
