5 pointsWhere to begin, and how to put this, without coming across like a "scrooge"/ especially since it is just slightly over a day away from Christmas. We celebrate because we are free. But each morning I get up to watch the news, I am gently reminded, so many "Americans" have lost or never had a respect for our freedom.... To all my brother's and sister's in arms..... I hope one day our Nation respects you for all you have done..... Freedoms Cry If by chance, you should see me cry It’s not for those who fought and died It’s for the one’s, that don’t understand Freedoms price in this great land It’s for those with outstretched hands Greedy hearts from a foreign land It’s for the ones with a black hole to fill Unknown to them it’s an empty thrill It’s for those who never give Never feeling the power of how to live It’s for those who have bickered and complained But never tried to make a change It’s for the one’s that cannot see How shallow they are, “not even a please†It’s for all of these and so many more That mock what our “forces†try to implore The freedom we have is bought with a price Blood, sweat, and tears when “forces†unite So the tears I cry, may one day be dry In hopes of a Nation that understands WHY?

3 pointsPicked up a $50 1848 Workhorse today. PO stated that it came with the house and ran fine until last yr when the starter went out. fluids look fine, engine not seized up came with a dented in lower front 42" RD deck.
-
3 pointsThat is a real nice one Craig, gotta love the sound of a nice running twin Kohler...
-
2 pointsWe moved into our house Dec.31, 1969 and that is the only year we didn't decorate for Christmas. Over the years we've added a few things. Our town has had a lighting contest for quite a few years and we finally entered it this year and won first prize. We received a nice certificate and a nicer check for $500. That will almost pay for the electric bill this month..................

-
2 pointsSame here Bro' Those folks just don't get it, which is probably a good thing for us in the long run. Imagine what the prices would be on Wheel Horses if all our friends and neighbors were collecting them too!

2 pointsI picked this little True-Trac walk behind tractor up from my brother Dave via one of our trades, he is also known as JimmyZ. He picked it up from my brother Jim thru one of their trades. I must say, I didn't think I'd have much use for this little walk behind. That is until I tried it, it is fun to use! It has more power than you would think it would. It has a little Clinton engine for power and it has a nice posi that unlocks when you turn it around. It has some real nice heavy cast iron wheel weights on the inside of the tires. I have a lot of walk ways that I clear at work. I have a real nice Ariens snow thrower and Ariens snow blower to use at work. Trouble is, when I salt the walk ways before I leave for the day at 3:30 (so the employess don't fall, law suits etc.) I often come in the next day and have a nice accumulation of fairly heavy mushy snow (thanks to the ice melter) that plugs up both of the Ariens machines. I then wind up having to manually shovel, which sucks, and at 45 I ain't gettin any younger. I'm going to take this walk behind to work and see if it helps with that problem. I was considering bringing one of my Wheel Horse's to work to help with that issue but in all honesty I think this walk behind will be easier to use...We shall see!

2 pointsLadies and Gentleman, on this episode of Pimp My Tractor........Nice job Duke, pimpin ain't easy...

1 pointThat engine sounds really healthy Martin! Once you get the carb dialed in to stop the surging, I bet she'll purr like a kitten. Matt

1 pointFind a metal pan off 300-500 series and some wide 520 rear rims and tires and call it done

1 pointThe hour meter was a factory option. That is what the blank on the dash was for. The C-195 (they called it the Super C) may have been the only C that had the hour meter standard. The KT17s either I or II are nice running engines. They idle down nicely and idle smoother than the ONANs. The KT17 is only 3 less ponies than the P220 and you can run it hard without worrying about the overheating issues like the ONANs have,.
-
1 pointI just ran my C-175 Series I for and hour an half straight blowing my snow and the neighbors on our last heavy snowfall. I actually like the KT over the Onan but I do acknowledge the issues with the Series I. that is a very nice looking tractor. Congrats!

1 pointWelcome to Red Square. There are a few people on this site that have the parts you need...start a thread in the "Wanted Section". You need to be careful which differential housing you get. You need to count the teeth on your bull gear and if your mushroom gear is OK, you need a differential housing with the same number of teeth as the one you have. There are 2 different teeth counts out there. If the other one comes along, then you need the matching mushroom gear for that differential housing. If you end up replacing both, then you have to see if you have a needle bearing or a ball bearing in the brake drum hole. Not hard or complicated, just want you to get the right parts the first time. The spider gears in both types of housings are the same...as are the axle gears (should they be bad). Here is a video showing and explaining what I am talking about...Plenty of help here on the forum, and that trans is very fixable. If you have any questions, just ask...I may be able to help you find the parts. http://s419.photobucket.com/user/stevasaurus/media/5010-2%20TRANSMISSION/2011_1102JAKESTRANNYS0001.mp4.html?sort=3&o=4

1 pointI also have a 1983 auto with low hours. The seat on your tractor is the original model. If it is also the original seat it suggest the tractor has low hours on it and spent most of its life inside. That seat with no defects is good for $150 to $200 on eBay, or more. My dad bought his 1981 C-175 from B&B and mowing the lawn with it back in the day is where I got the horse disease. My 83 lives in a storage box.
-
1 pointI am thrilled with the 18hp Vanguard I installed on my '83 GT-1848 ~ so far. My concern with the Vanguard twin is the lack of flywheel side main bearing (ball or tapered roller) and the lateral pressure exerted by the mechanical PTO clutch. The only thing I had to fabricate was the exhaust headpipes - everything else is off-the-shelf Wheel Horse.
-
1 pointNone, although Carol wants to start putting them up before Halloween.
-
1 pointAwesome Buzz! How many of those lights stay up all year?? Mike.........
-
1 pointNot a KT-17 fan but I do love the Black Hoods. I think that hood looks awesome from the drivers seat with its lines. Almost has fins! Replace the fender with one off a 300-400-500 hydro and mothball the plastic one. Mike.........

1 pointThey missed the 1077 but you can get what's left of it by using 1277. They shared a manual. Garry Adding You can search the manuals in Red Square for 1-0310 and come up with the original 1971 illustrated parts list for many 1971 models. What is interesting is the index has a page that explains how they came up with the code letters to identify the different tractor models in the ipl. Always wondered how they did that. Here is a link to the manual.

1 pointI add a little Marvel too. Works great. I buy the MMO oil by the gallons. I run it in the oil an fuel of the plane I fly for a living, I suffered from stuck valves a few years ago. With the MMO, I have had over 1100hrs of trouble free operation. I have had many hrs of trouble free operation in my tractors as well. Ethanol is trash, if you have the ability to get a better fuel, do it.

1 point3631 is correct. i have one. its a good one for the collection. its a terrible worker though. the 68 commando its basically the same except with the kohler engine and electric start, its so much nicer. here is a better picture of one. its hard to find one with a correct seat. thanks brad
-
1 pointI have not seen this unit but the model is 1 3631 with a serial #485437. Straight from the Horses Mouth lists this as a 1968 500 Special. Belongs to a friend of mine. Is this valid?

1 pointThat's all I got to say about that. Cool video. I agree..it's more of a cd player setup than 8-track. All looks high-tech.
-
1 pointBob, there is no doubt in my mind that Brrly1 was at Woodstock. He probably looked like Forest Gump on his 857 mowing the grass around people that were passed out. Put some flowers in your hair for the next video.
-
1 pointDon't forget the Citizens Band whip antenna Bro!!! Loved the vid!!! I just watched the video while enjoying the 78degree temperature here. I'll be mowing some leaves here shortly.
-
1 pointI can see it all now. A Pink Floyd 8 track cassette jammed in there with a book of matches holding the bottom up so it plays smoothly!

1 pointWas that the C-175 in Amsterdam on the Albany, NY Craigslist? There was one listed there that appeared to be in beautiful condition and the listing was only up a few hours? It also looked like the large plastic fender was in good condition which is very rare. That was a lot of tractor for the money if you got it. No problem with the KT17 Series I as long as you know the running on incline limitations.

1 pointNot sure if you have a similar fuel in U.S , but there is an Alkylate Fuel available in Europe called Aspen. It is prohibitively expensive at the moment because of it's production method and low usage. Despite the cost, it is good for 5 years in the tank/Carb and fuel lines. Perfect for Low Use equipment and Show Queens and has very low emissions . There are several additives available here and of course we are only at the 5% Ethanol level at the moment. I use Redex in the Fuel, purely as an 'Upper Cylinder Lubricant' and it also cleans out or prevents the carbon build up. Had the Can for 20years now, still plenty left.
-
1 pointThanks all, it is a hydro. here are a couple action shots from the big snow a couple years ago, Even the mighty Horse couldn't bust through the big drift and pile from the state plows at the end of the driveway though. Had to have an end loader finish the job.
-
1 pointThanks. I've been collecting, and restoring old Briggs engines for awhile, and its a great hobby. Yes, its a 1943 Briggs Model N Lever Start engine used by the military. Absolutely Beautiful!! Thats a fantastic message in your poem! Matt
-
1 pointI believe it differs from state to state. In my state, 99% of gasoline contains some percentage of ethanol. There are very fiew stations that sell true ethanol free gas. There is a BP station here in Raleigh that advertises that it carries 89 octane, ethanol free gas. It is more expensive than premium but less expensive than diesel. Out of the 16 pumps at the station, only 1 pump has the ethanol free gas. For those of you in Raleigh, it is the BP station at the intersection of Duraleigh Rd and Glenwood Ave (next to chick fil a...yum).

1 pointI just finished redrawing the 520 patriotic set so the flags will line up much better. The side hood decal has been lengthened 1/2 inch to close the gap. Also fixed Made In America on the rear fender. Added Made In America on the hood decals and moved the 520 emblems to the side hood stand panel decals for hydro or 8 speed Please Check the dimension of your tractor to verify that the additional 1/2 inch will be adequate to fill the gap. The bottom decal is just a 10 inch bumper sticker that will come with every patriotic set.
