5 pointsHere are a few pics of my center cap that I made for my 520H. The cap is aluminum and glued in place with silicone. Thanks goes out to Glenn Pettit and Terry Denis for getting me the logo to engrave the center cap.

4 pointsPicked up a $50 1848 Workhorse today. PO stated that it came with the house and ran fine until last yr when the starter went out. fluids look fine, engine not seized up came with a dented in lower front 42" RD deck.
-
4 pointsMade a camera mount inside the cab the other day to film the inside operation of controls and so forth. Since the camera is mounted high and I cant see the screen I cant tell if it is indeed recording..... Well low and behold the Camera musta shut offand didn't record anything. It continued to snow and a couple hours later had a few inches. Well the same thing happened but I was able to get at least the last couple minutes worth of filming. Anyways should be able to get some better footage in the next couple weeks while on vacation.

4 pointsThe Neighbors across the street from Craig... Martha! What in tarnation is that gimpy 'such and such' doing doughnuts in the street!!! I's 70 degrees out there and it's Dec and he's riding around on another one of them "lawn mowers"! Whats that, like 10 that he has!?!!?
-
3 pointsWith the temperature up close to 70 degrees, I took the time to make a new edge for my snow/dozer blade. I used a piece of 1/2" thick rubber cut from a 3' x 4' horse stall pad. It took a bit of effort and the one edge is not the cleanest. New 1 1/2" carriage bolts were used to attach it plus it wasn't expensive to do. I'm not sure if it will work and I wonder how long the edge will last. I am trying this as I have two neighbors with newly laid asphalt driveways that I plow that I don't want to damage with the metal edge. If nothing else, I can squeegee the driveways when it rains.

3 pointsWe moved into our house Dec.31, 1969 and that is the only year we didn't decorate for Christmas. Over the years we've added a few things. Our town has had a lighting contest for quite a few years and we finally entered it this year and won first prize. We received a nice certificate and a nicer check for $500. That will almost pay for the electric bill this month..................

3 pointsAs I was surfing the web, I came across a gift, that is PERFECT for Craig.... Craig, if I had the money, this would be my gift for you: http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2013/02/11/rare-amc-amx3-prototype-on-display-at-chicago-auto-show/ Maybe one day, and until then, Merry Christmas to you!!!! 3 pointsOK...put a fresh battery in it, got the lights working... and over filled the oil by a half pint too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1pR2qJs-_Q&feature=youtu.be

3 pointsI suppose forums are not necessarily everyones cup of tea, I personally think they are a great way to share information and let folk know what is going on. All we can do is promote this forum in 2014 and see who joins up I'll make sure that any WH relevant article I send to Tractor and Machinery magazine (which seems to be well read in the UK), promotes the forum whenever I can

2 pointsIt's been a busy week at work, but now I'm home for 18 days The weather was good this morning and I went off for another play, my eldest filmed and this is my first attempt using Vegas. I think I might be close to finding the limit of what a 4x4 tractor can do

2 pointsHey, I don't think most of us see ourselves as a separate group! There might be a few thousand miles of ocean, but the power of the inter web brings us bit closer... Gotta love redsquare :)

2 pointsWell, I finally got around to getting the deck painted, and it didn't turn out to bad. It has rust pits in it, but most of them are under the deck, or under the belt guard where people can't see. Its far from perfect, but it will be just fine for a deck that will be used occasionally. I painted the mule drive as well, and installed the "Gary's Case" decals on the front of it. The deck will look better once I install the decals on it. My friend mailed the spindles, and they're scheduled for delivery this Tuesday, but we're going out of town to spend Christmas with my wife's family, so it will be awhile before assembly. Thats ok, it will give the paint plenty of time to harden. Matt
-
2 pointsExcuse me... of course I was thanking Rob for the thought that counts. Good lookin' out Dino.
-
2 pointsThanks Guys! Will try and get some better Vid in next couple weeks on chute operation when going up and down driveway on the same side. Anyways I got HIJACKED by some Hippy Biker Chicks a couple months back, and ain't been right since! Besides Steve, you and Brrly are a tuff act to follow. ~Duke

2 pointsI know I am going to get some grief on this on, but after taking a tire off today thats been on for twenty years or more, I think its great. My dad gave me the details on what he used to load his tires with "only barn kept ones" and it works great and is enviormental freindly. He takes 4 oz dawn dish soap and 2 oz of isopropanol alcohol to one gallon of water. When figured out this come out to about 50 cents a gallon. He told me how washer fluid can be flamable and tire changing can be dangerous and antifreeze can harm animals, He went on to saying how on older tires this brings back some of the elasticity thats lost with age. He has check his tires at 20 below and no problems , I changed the tire today" just wore out" and the rim looked like new. I know people have rheir opinions and will disagree with this, but I went out mixed some up and filled a set for my self and the tires already are feeling better.I just thiught someone out there may find this as interesting as I did and throw it in their book of knowledge.

2 pointsLittle brother could have 3 rings and still would not be as good a quarterback Peyton.

2 pointsEverytime he throw a pizza and it's dropped a flag comes out. "Pizza interference, defense no. 22,15 yards, automatic first down!" You boys need to seek professional help.

2 pointsThat last 1/4" is kind of usual of the way things go...probably just the little nubbies that line up the transmission halves. Sometimes just a wiggle will get the job done...I have had to gently tap them also. The seals can go in either before or after...after is probably easier. It is a good idea to bench test your trans before you put it back on the horse. Put on the input pulley, and either replace the shifter or use a large screwdriver to go through the gears. Turn the input shaft counter-clockwise while watching the axles and brake shaft turn. All should shift and move rather easily. Also, while in neutral, grab the axles and turn them...one should go in the opposite direction. If all is smooth and in order...you should be good to go. Congratulations Tom You have to admit...the job is really not that hard, and very satisfying to take apart and fix your own transmission.

2 pointsOn Craigslist, I use the search term "Wheel Horse" | wheelhorse If you put it in just like it is shown above, you will pull all ads titled Wheel Horse and/or wheelhorse.
-
2 pointsI will search for "kohler", "onan", "briggs" on searchtempest. It will give some results I didnt find using the standard phrases of Wheelhorse, tractor, ETC..

1 pointI just wanted to say after being on here for a few years and seeing how the European buddies we have on Red Square have grown their participation, great contributions and innovative interaction on the website, we sure can learn a lot from you folks in the Wheel Horse department! I find myself "peeking" into the Europe forum more and more! A big thank you for all you do on Red Square.

1 pointHello i just picked up my first Wheel Horse, wanted to work on something that wouldnt cost as much as the vette i had. things are coiming along and i have been picking up ideas from every where on what should be done. getting manuals has helped a lot and ienjoy working on it daily. one thing i need is a manual for the deck, hope to pick up more as i go, if you can point me in the right way i would be thankful Chris
-
1 point3631 is correct. i have one. its a good one for the collection. its a terrible worker though. the 68 commando its basically the same except with the kohler engine and electric start, its so much nicer. here is a better picture of one. its hard to find one with a correct seat. thanks brad

1 pointJohn, Let us know how well it scrapes the icy stuff. I put a UHMW on and it does save the blacktop. On packed down/icy stuff, it doesnt do as well as the metal blade. No worries!

1 pointWoW!! What a blast from the past! I remember those....... well almost....... a friend of mine had an AMX and I do remember some good times in it!

1 pointGreat video Bob...a real neat view from the cab. Tell me...is that an ear ring in your left ear or a hearing aid??? I'm thinking MJ is glad she gets to stay warm now. MERRY CHRISTMAS my friend.
-
1 pointMike you should post this in the "Engines" section of RS. I personally would not run it at all until knowing what the problem is. You don't want to ruin a perfectly good KT17 series 2 engine.

1 pointon a computerized ignition system, the signal fed to the tach is a very clean electrical pulse which varies from 0 volts to approx.12 volts (some engine computers may put out a 0 to 5 volt square pulse). on the negative terminal of an ignition based system, the signal to the tach contains an electrical spike which can exceed 300 volts. The tach filter probably filters out the 300 volt spikes by cutting it off at its electrical "knees" and results in a much lower level voltage being presented to the tach. Old school tachs will already have this simple filter inside the case as they are expecting a more "hostile" input signal . Newer tachs may require this filter to prevent damage to the tach circuitry.

1 pointTry pulling it off and submerging it in a pan of "antifreeze". (ethylene glycol) I had a low-hanging shift cable freezing up on a utility vehicle at work and it hasn't done it since I gave it a soaking.
-
1 pointSigh......I really wish Kelly's place wasn't so far away. Congrats!! Mike.......

1 pointPhew! Finally got this thing together...almost. Placing the parts in the case was fairly easy, thanks to Steve's excellent video. When putting the case sides together, I couldn't get them to make contact, there was about 1/4 inch (or less) between the two. I worked patiently and gently for a long while and couldn't get them to get together. I took it apart several times, checking for something not lined up or out of place, everything seemed fine. Well, my patience completely wore out! I grabbed a rubber mallet and smacked the stuffin' out of it and it fell together perfectly. Is this the way it is supposed to be done? When putting the axle in, the seals were pushed out, it just wouldn't go through with those seals in there. I was ably to put one back in without a problem but the other got a little bent in the process, so I won't bother with it, I'll just get a new one. I'm thinking the seals should be placed after the axle is in place (not the way I did it), is that right? I kinda wanted to paint it before I put it together as was recommended, but the weather was bad so I'll paint later. Taking this thing apart, troubleshooting, repairing and cleaning wasn't too difficult, but it was very time consuming and I spent more than I had hoped ( I am on a limited budget)and I still don't know if it'll work when I'm all finished. If I ever get another wheel horse, I'll be sure that the engine and transaxle are in good shape before money changes hands.
-
1 pointThank you, I appreciate the encouragement! Thanks Craig. You know how it is when your really enjoying a project. You just can't stop till its finished. Thanks, and although I have found I can do body work when necessary, I don't like it! For me, body work is a real "labor of love", so long as I love what I'm working on, I can do it. You couldn't pay me enough to do it for a living!!! Thanks for the kind words. Matt

1 pointI managed to find some time to build a new rear discharge extension today, as the original was missing. It should work well, and is far stronger than the original. I still have a little grinding to do on the underside, but other than that, its complete. Thanks Matt
-
1 pointLike dogemike said.....pick the blade up a bit for now......4.0/8's would probably fit on that 125 with tubes but might look like a little foot on a big leg if you know what I mean.....

1 pointYeah that should kick it over but i would attach to the heavy wire coming off of the starter not the terminal itself. I have seen a bad connection melt those terminal threads right off then your screwed. I don't have much experience with D's but it may be that your starter is locked to the flywheel. See if you can rotate the engine back and forth by hand, try to avoid smacking the starter with a hammer or you'll break the magnets and then it's done. Best to get the manual for the engine, it will show you how everything comes apart. Is that an Onan?
-
1 pointLane ranger you could not have been more correct. 1 washer the size of a quarter and I am in business. Also I figured out how to adjust the threaded pto lever a few turns because I wasn't locking the pto in the on position. I also realized I bent my plow lift lever,I put a piece of fence pole on it and bent it back I to shape, which allowed my button to be able to be pressed. I can't get it to lock in the up position, but I used it and it worked like a champ! I paid 75$ for the 312-8 in the fall of 2012 and the snowblower for 75$ also. But didn't run it last year due to surgery. Man I get it all now. I picked the wheelhorse because it was a great price, but after going thru it and seeing the practical engineering I am so lucky I just kind of To"Forest Gumped" my way into the world of wheelhorse but I am loving it. Thanks everyone
