As many of you know I certainly have a LOT to be thankful for this year. Aside from just being able to wake up in the morning, I am thankful for my family, neighbors and friends and for the support that they have shown me and my family this year as I continue to recover. I am also thankful for our military, and for those who will not be spending time with their families while I spend time with mine. Their families are concerned with their kids making it through the night, and don't have time to help raise funds to combat their child's cancer. While it may seem that they have little to be thankful for, they are, they're thankful for those who are helping raise funds for them so they can concentrate on their kids. I bought a nice 753 Wheel horse today thats been sitting for about 20 years and everything looks nice and free. This is my first 753 Wheel Horse i believe is 1963. The second one i bought is a little rough 1958 RJ58 I believe its a 1958 the price was to good to pass up on it. I don't think the exhaust guard is original. The last 4 photos i didn't buy this tractor he wanted a little to much for i think is a 1956 RJ-35 with the cast iron steering wheel and the guards. The bad part its not the correct motor its a 6 horse kohler not the 3.5hp that suppose to be in there. Otherwise its a cool tractor its just have to work him down on the price. Also did anybody ever see a national mower i think its form the 60s he's selling that to is there any value to them? i figure i can buy it and resell for a profit to buy more wheel horse tractors and parts.

I ordered a turkey too and my grandson delivered. And we do have a lot to be thankful for.I try to do something for less fortunate folks,but if things are going bad for you try to find something that warms your heart and puts a smile on your face.Sometimes if we are really feeling down and we do something for someone else it picks up our own spirits.Think of that person who may be alone at this time.It's a good time to patch things up with family members we have wronged or been wronged by. I'm rambling on,just be nice to one another

I installed my Alaska two door stove in 1966 as a back up for my oil burner, and I have been burning wood ever since. The Tecky powered C-120 never fails to blow a path to the wood pile and haul in the fuel. Then I sit back and relive my days afield.

Might as well show this one too since this one is a worker. Not as an entry but just to put it in a thread that's about customs. Here's my homebuilt backhoe which has done plenty of work for a little machine. Spent 2 summers of spare time outside on the ground cutting, drilling and welding to get it together. By the end, I was sick of cutting, drilling and welding! Spent the winters researching the net for hydraulic info as this was my first time ever attempting to use them and building something this big from scratch. I really enjoy following your project progress. Those kids are lucky to have someone like you that really cares about their "education" in different areas other than their normal classes. Sort of reminds me of the wood shop class I had a million years ago. Heck us followers will probably learn something too! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.

First off you need to make sure you have 12volts to the Plus side of the coil. If you do have 12 volts then make sure the points are cleaned and gapped properly. If they are pitted you can clean them up with fine sand paper. To adjust loosen the screw on the side of the points, not the 2 mounting screws and adjust accordingly. If you have a multimeter you can make sure the point arent grounded out. Ign off set to ohms. One lead on ground and one on wire terminal. Rotate motor to open points and meter should show open, points closed meter should show continueity

Thanks for the comments guys. That cart was a Radio brand cart to start with. Thankfully this tractor, and the cart for that matter, made it through the Tornado without a scratch. At least I think it did. I haven't had a chance to pull off the tarp and blanket over it, but I didn't see any sign of debris getting into my shed that far. It should be fine where it is all winter as we get the house repaired. Dave

Burning wood you say? I have a lot. I'm jealous I wish I had a wood stove. We would have to add a new chimney as our current one only has one flume which is occupied by the furnace and water heater.

Addiction...World's Record..."It's not what you need...it's what you WANT"...all of the above !! I've listed a bunch of my old wheel horse decks on e-bay during the past few weeks. Most of them were "buy-it-now" for $35.00. A few days ago someone took the old rusted, crippled deck for an A 800 Ranger. Probably not to popular a model ????? The happy buyer just left my home in NW Ohio...he left Baltimore . Maryland at 6 AM this morning, arrived here 12 hours later and after visiting a few minutes said he had to get started back home !!!! When I asked if this was his longest trip he said no...it was the one to Texas..... 1325 miles round trip for a $35.00 deck that hundreds of other guys looked at but decided the price was wrong ??????? If anybody knows "CRAIG" (not a red square member) from Baltimore, tell him he WINS THE PRIZE !!!

$450 for the 56 RJ I think is to high. I got the 58 RJ for $100

Another thing. When the bucket is full, set it near the boiler and get another one. The heat will evaporate it out so you won't have to dump it.

Ya know me n my boy will take off on road trip like that just to get away and see what we find along the way "never that far" but I can see why one would. The drive sometimes is worth more then the destination.

Boy! If we could just bottle that and send it to Washington, we may have hope!

Did you get the belt guard with your RJ?

That heat shield is correct for the RJ, just looks like the exhaust pipe itself is not on correctly. It has the original type Schnake recoil and an uncut hood too! NICE SCORE!

SUCCESS! I raised the front all the way I could with a good garage jack, drained all the fluid out (had replaced a week ago but was almost as gloppy as the first dump). I then blew it out with air (set the pressure a 40lbs NO HIGHER) this blew at least another 1/2 qt of crap out of the transmission. I then lowered the tractor added 1 1/2 quarts of kerosene and drove the tractor up and down my hilly property for 10-15 mins., brought it back into the garage, jacked it up again, drained the kero and blew it out with 20lbs of air. I then added new clean 80 weight oil lowered the tractor and drove it all over the place brought it back the oil remained crystal clear and it is purring like a kitten and the trans oil looks like trans oil .....ready to take the stress of plowing this winter........ I am trying out a pellet stove but I don't like it as much as I liked my woodstove I could heat my shop to 75 degrees in about half an hour with the woodstove but it took hours with the corn furnace and it's a 75,000 btu whole home heating model not the small single room type, it stands 4 feet tall by 3 feet deep, holds over 200 lbs of corn/pellets and has it's own furnace type blower fan. Auger feed rate is from 2lbs per hours up to 9lbs and it can be fine tuned to do even more if needed. I am running a mix of pellets and corn now to see if it will heat up quicker. I am thinking it's time to warm up the chainsaws and get the splitter prepped for some work.

I sanded the points with emery paper. set the points to .20 wiped off points with a towel and Vrooommm! I'm guessing that the moisture off the garage floor the past month must have rusted up the points. thanks WHnut

I picked up this nice '67 Ranger with a blade from" Lane Ranger" today. It's a 107 that Lane converted to electric start. He even met me half way to make the exchange, thank you Lane. I'm gonna fix this up for my Grandson. I also got this reel mower from Lane, Grandpa's gonna keep this.

I've considered power coating but some of the powder coat jobs I've seen on tractors look like they have an egg shell finish. I wouldn't know where to go in my area, the only guy I'd trust to do a killer job is Martin!

As of last week I have a perfectly smooth road in front of my house to play on. Now all I have to do is find a forward swept blade extension for my snow blade as my 417-8 has a forward swept front axle in it. If I don't get a blade on the 417 it will be either my newly purchased 657 (with Kohher 6hp) or the 854 with a blade on it. I'm in no hurry for snow, I take care of clearing the walkways and the loading docks at work when it snows. I took over the job because the 4 no speaks that were doing it were destroying the equipment and I was getting tired of fixing it due to neglect. They wouldn't listen to instruction even with an interpreter so I took it over. I don't mind, it gets me out of the building. I also take pride that I can get it done faster and do a much better job than what four guys were doing.

I hate taking hubs off axles - it seems either way I cant win. If the hub is tight it will be a ***** to get off - but the upside is that the axle is probably not worn, the bore in the hub is probably not wallowed out, and the keyways are probably good. The downside is that the hub will be a ***** to get off. If the hub is loose it'll come off easy. - but the downside is that there is a good possibility that the bore in the hub is wallowed out, the end of the axle is worn, or maybe the keyways are worn. The only time I seem to win is when the hub is still a good fit on the axle, but the axle seal has been leaking for long enough to weep some oil into the joint - the hub comes off relatively easily and the bits aren't all worn out!

If I happen to run into him in my travels, not only will I tell him that he's the big winner, I will say "here's your sign".

I suppose if I was retired and had gobs of money and all that free time it might be a fun way to see the country and pick up some wheelhorse stuff along the way. Probably would be more fun in a motorhome . But right now I work full time, have very little "fun money" so no big road trips for me. Mike............

Finally got my hood ready for red. It had some dings, the grille was a little bent and it had two holes that I had welded up. Not rust holes. Just two holes. I have no idea how they got there, but I fixed all of it and put some etch primer then a few coats of high-build 2k urethane primer, then wet sanded all with 400. I'm pretty proud of the way it turned out

Here's another scammer story: Posted Yesterday, 05:53 PM "I ran an ad in the Lawn & Garden Tractor magazine. Got a call over today that first got me excited.....then I realized it was TOO good to be true. Problem is, I wanted it to be true, so you tend to try to rationalize it out. Here's how it went.....I got the model you are looking for. It was my fathers he collected them for over 40 years. He said all the right things...but where he messed up, he tried to push me to make it all happen asap. I told him I travel up into that area and could probably arrange to pick it up, he quickly said I have a friend for 40 years that hauls down your way and he just happens to be going your way this week......it kept getting better.....the truck was actually coming with in 25 miles of my house. All I had to do was pay the freight by western union, and I could write a check for the tractor and send it to him after I had received the tractor......now why would anyone send a gt hundreds of miles away and only want the freight up front?? Cause all he was hoping to get was the freight. I sure wanted it to be true, but I did not call him back since I felt it was just a waste of time....bummer..... I am only posting this so those who may have not already been in this situation can head it off at the pass....... ALL MY LIFE I HAVE LIVED BY THE CREED IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. SOMETHING IS WRONG. Never let someone push you to close a deal. Ask why does it happen to have to be done this fast??? I see it in my business too, the more they push to speed it up, the more I push to slow it down." BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.

None of my stuff is as nice as the worst on here, and whoa on an attempt to upgrade from some one else's hard work is LOW. Honesty is still the best way to sell, deceit makes something good turn bad, and those deceivers are never forgotten.

I'll research into this further and update you. If it's to expensive or not feasible I'll just write up a tutorial on how to make these.
