5 pointsI just got home, and I am whipped! That's a lot of driving for one day. I took a couple pics when I was at a gas station, and thought I'd post them. In the pics the owner sent me it looked like seat was a little tor up, but that was not the case. The stuff around the bottom of the seat that made it look bad was actually the original clear plastic that came on the seat when new. This seat is beautiful! Anyway, here are the pics. Matt

4 pointsA fun tractor for consideration... here's my dual agged, early '58, #1188.
-
3 pointsHow are you suppose to get tractors ready for snow duty when you have grass to cut yet. Are grass is the greenest it's been all year and growing like crazy. I can't mow because we keep getting rain and Snow! The leaves are not even all down yet. Went to mow the other day and the ground had this white stuff all over it. We keep getting snow, Guess I will be out there to see what that 48" deck can blow off the drive. Crazy weather.

3 pointsI think by state would make it much easier to find the dealers local to your area.

3 pointswell I don't really have a wheel horse tractor, but I do have a couple of these Ponds!

2 pointsI put a set of duals on my RJ58 project tractor. Also jacked it down in the front with a set of smaller bar lugs. It's got the original 4 hp Kohler on it. I took the small butt type of seat off it for my 1956 RJ35 and the gas tank got sniped off it too. I replaced the seat with the correct type but now I need a gas tank for it. I will have to sand blast and paint this seat and the front rims. Click on the pics for a larger image. Stick it back in the shed until next time....KJ

2 pointsHoly Crap!!! at 1:35 was that a "barking spider"!!!! Steve, a true man cave....coffee cup and all !!!!! Sing it Steve!! does your wife look out the window and just shake her head??!!?? I think you should put the plow on and do your drive around the block!!!

2 pointsOn a side note...I took the springs, after they were in electrolysis...wire brushed them with the 4" grinder put them on the charcoal grill for about 20 minutes (to dry them out), and then soaked them in a penetrating oil solution that I made of 3 parts ATF, 1 part paint thinner (for oil based paint), and 1 part diesel fuel for about 3 days. Looking for the penetrating oil to soak into the metal...they look great, we will see if it will last through the winter. Here is a video of watching paint dry...could not resist doing this...click on the picture.

2 pointsFirst time I've ever used seafoam. I've noticed it running better, but it still has a long way to go before I'm happy. Stayed back at work tonight and got the wheel weights powdercoated. Also decided to paint the bracket that holds the front of the seat pan and gas tank in place, it was a little rusty and we can't have any of that nonsense. I think the silver is fairly close to the wheel color.

2 pointsI was just thinking it's calendar time. I will be checking on the cost of professionally printed wall calendars for those that are interested again this year. I sent out close to 40 calendars last year. I will make the cut off day for ordering a week after Justin's file is out so those lucky enough to be included in the calendar can get one if they wish. Look for a separate thread about calendar ordering! THANK-YOU JUSTIN FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK!!!! Here are me "entries" 1964 704 with sweeper "Marvin" 1981 C-145 Custom 76 C160 73 12 8 spd

2 pointsUp for humble consideration is my 1973 18 Auto. Completely redone by me in 2012. Pic show winter and summer. I reworked a 60 inch deck from a 520 to make the ultimate big mowing machine. Hopefully 1 pic will be considered good enough. Thank you very much for your consideration.

1 point19 Foot Long Pole Saw. Made it myself long pole saw for about $20. First you need to get lucky and find the right Saw blade. I happened to get real lucky and asked the right young lady @ Lowes for help. I got the last out of package reduced pull type limb saw that Lowes had for $ 3.90. Plus small bolts and wing nuts for $ 4. And the In expensive conduit for just a couple more bucks. One 10 footer ¾ inch & One 10 footer 1 inch in diameter. Total length is 19 feet it is a bit cumbersome to use, and just a bit heavy. Operator need to be patient and work slow. Its important the blade is a pull type blade. This means the blade only cuts the material when it is pulled towards you. Cutting on the push does not work well at 19 feet. Also use a wax type lubricant on the blade. This helps a great deal to make the job easier. Mount the blade @ that typical slight angle. I used a piece of broken sledge hammer handle inside the pipe to mount the blade. I turned it down on a lathe to fit, then cut the slot with a saws all. Two bolts with jam nuts to hold the blade tight. Ten cuts later, its all still tight so I think it turn out all right and cut’s fast to. Two bolts with wing nuts hold the two pipes together. I over lapped them about 1 foot. I can reach up over 20 feet and cut. When I store it I have the pole slid together. One Bolt and wing nut hold to two together the other bolt is just in the handle end so I know were it is. If or when I need it only half way extended I will drill those holes then.

1 pointWow, thanks for all the great comments, and encouragement guys! The Tecky lives, and it runs Fantastic!!! No smoke, except a puff of black smoke when throttling up hard. I did the initial wash up on the today, including removing the shroud, and cleaning out the cooling fins before starting. All I did to was change the oil, new battery, and add gas, and it fired right up. I'm really starting to love this beast now! The clutch pedal is broken as can be seen in the pics below, but I've got a set of both clutch, and brake pedals on the way. I'm still really amazed by the seat, as its in fantastic shape, and the vinyl is still soft, and pliable. I think I'm going to have to put a stack on it. The Nelson muffler is in like new condition, so I'll save it, incase I decide I want to go back to original. I'm going to order a set of 23x10.50-12 ags as well. I introduced the C-160 to the B-80 today, and they get along quite well. Both of my :wh:'s are 1974 models, just like me. All of us are turning 40 next year! The hood really is raised much higher on this Tecky model, as can be seen in the comparison of it, and the B-80 below. Anyway, hear are the pics. I almost forgot to mention that the 88yr old woman I bought this from even gave me the original owners manual for the beast. Matt

1 pointThat's some funny s**t right there!! Plow looks great though. Glad it worked out well for you.

1 pointJust in time for halloween, the Techy snatchers strike again. Really neat Matt, dare to be different brother.
-
1 pointI can't believe you didn't do a video of the springs in the E tank too. The wife say's...next time...more drying, less talking please.

1 pointI know that all of this means work for the Mods/Admin but, it would be cool to have it all plotted on a map (USA or even world??) with closed or still open colored flags, with contact info, address, phone, website!
-
1 pointNice looking C160 there! I think it is quite rare since you have the Tecky in it! Nice score!
-
1 pointI did notice this morning that there is a wheel horse clevis hitch on ebay...search on Wheelhorse Brinly Adapter. That would be one piece needed.
-
1 pointMatt, you really did well with this one. I would say having a C160 with that engine gives you some bragging rights !
-
1 pointWe had snow yesterday too, quite a bit in some areas around us, as much as 6 inches and I still have leaves to mulch and grass to cut but it is the time of the year even if our winters are changing. Almost time to change the Avatar

1 pointYou should drive the 520 and then make your choice. One thing that you need to be aware of is the tendency for the hydro transmission in the 520 to sort of "freewheel" downhill. You mention that your property is hilly and the 520 won't hold itself back without your fooling around with the motion control lever whenever you head downhill. It's not a problem or really much of an inconvenience, but something of which to be aware.

1 pointDrum roll...............Nebraska, Iowa, Mich State, Ohio State.......I really don't think that the Huskers will win but I really liked Tom Osborne. I loved Lou Holtz. Lou coached at Minnesota....Ricky Foggie anyone? There aren't any connections between Lou and the Gophers though. Aha! Here it goes: Bo Pelini coached under Frank Solich who coached under Tom Osborne therefore its the Huskers. My logic at its finest. Relish the moment gents!

1 pointWhen I painted my 551, I brushed the frame, and sprayed the tins. Came out good and flowed well right from the can. Next time though, I'd use a little flo-through though to help it flow a bit better. It was easy, no wasted paint from overspray and the mess to go along with it. Coats also come out thicker as well. A Plow is a great place to try it if your not sure. If done right, it will look great. I suppose you could wet-sand it as well to get a "perfect" look, but on a plow why bother.

1 pointWe also had an Oliver 2255 4x4 that thing was a pulling beast. That was before we went with the Cases My uncle stuck his 1486 IH while chopping. My mother pulled him, the chopper and a 12 ton tandem wagon loaded out And he wasn't even in gear. Ours was the earlier version with the Cat 3208 but the kitty got stoked out to 370 pto hp Sadly the overdrive didn't survive the hired hands quick shifts

1 pointIf we are talking vintage then a Fordson Major or Dexta with a county 4wd conversion. If we are talking newer then a Muir Hill 131 or a County 1184TW. I like big wheels
