3 pointsWe brought our assorted tractors to the Point Pleasant (NJ) 24th Annual Evening Car Show last night. A few of the guys had lost their show cars in the hurricane last year, so this is all we had left to show!! The Wheel horse in the picture won a judges' favorite award! My Allis Chalmers was also a hit. Next year we will have a few more horses ready! Bill

2 pointsI cleaned a carb with the Berrymans dip and it came out looking like new. I was amazed, however, I was advised not to let the parts set in the stuff for more than a couple of hours. Wish I had bought it years ago. Got mine at wallyworld for about 20 bucks. 1 gallon can.

2 pointsIt's a good idea to completely disasemble the carb first and put all the parts in the basket to soak. That way the chemicals can get into all the tiny passages. I spray them out after soaking it with can of carb cleaner too.

2 pointsGood Lord this post is an oldie. The orientation of the engine does not determine whether a tractor is a lawn or garden tractor, it's the capabilities of the machine. Generally the ability to operate ground-engaging implements. I personally consider them a lawn tractor, but will tell you this..... Wheel Horse put a sleeve hitch on them. And being the smart engineers and business people they were in their day, I doubt they'd have done so if they thought it was beyond the capability of the machine, because if it was, there would have been a large potential loss in warranty repairs!

2 pointsToro is in business to sell products and make a profit. While this forum is filled with enthusiasts, there are VERY few of us who purchased a NEW Wheel Horse. Couple that with the things don't die so we don't need to buy a new one every couple of years. Like me mentioned above, Toro (or anyone) can't win with this. If they were to reintroduce the brand it would need to be competitive, which would certainly be highly criticized here, or would be expensive, and not sell. A while back we ran a poll, who purchased a NEW Wheel Horse. Turns out it was very few of us, and we're the enthusiasts. I know for me, IF the brand came back and I NEEDed a new machine, I would buy Wheel Horse again only if the quality was still there, but being able to get a tractor for $2000, I would be in the minority. I think that it's pretty telling that there are still NEW attachments available at dealers which were have been unsold for years. Face it, we'd fix it before buying a new one.

1 pointI though I would show off the pole barn I've been building over the course of the last year - yes a year, I'm a first time pole barn builder! The project started off rather dishearteningly when I received excavation quotes from $900 to $9,000... seemingly a little high for a leveling a 24'x36' pad (or so I thought). So on a rather lazy Sunday afternoon a year ago I hooked the moldboard plow to the ranger, fluid filled the rear tires and went to work plowing up the backyard! So began my year long learning process of pole barn construction - and I'm happy to report my trusty ranger only consumed 2 gallons of fuel while leveling the pad for the barn. Below are some progress pictures of the new barn, home now to the lawn ranger and the 310-8! Still plenty to be done, but at least it is weather tight. Never underestimate the capabilities of a Wheel Horse!

1 pointThis will probably take a long time to complete. Going go ahead and apologize up front. Anyway, my tractor has definitely seen better days. I've been waiting for some time to tear into this. However as my only mower I've been reluctant to do it. With luck on myself side I picked up a old lessco walk behind mower, so with the mowing covered, I'm finally going to do this. Sorry for not getting a picture of it together, I rolled it in the shop, and before I knew there was parts laying everywhere. It all happened so fast.

1 pointThanks AMC. The little project was as easy as it can get. I had a new TSC seat on the '85 416-8 was fine. I kind of like the comfort of this one but, needs the Final Butt Check. Are there step-by-step FBC (Final Butt Check) instructions published or just, "Ride 'em Cowboy?" PS. I'm keepin' my eyes open for junqué Jazzy seats from here on! 1 pointNo rips in this seat at all but, had to use 1/2" spacers bolting the seat down or the vinyl would be crushed and, non-removable. I wanted to be able to remove the covers for cleaning and the additional height is not noticeable. At an auto supply, $7.00, picked up a rattle can of Dupli-Color® Fabric and Vinyl paint, not gloss which was available. Picture is one coat of Dupli-Color® and a couple of hours later I slid the covers on 'n snapped 'em up. One coat, dries fast although I haven't given the finish the final butt check** nice. Easiest paint I've ever used from a rattle can. I'm seeing excellent results. ** Proper attire for a butt check? White USMC skivvies or in the buff? Test will be done in the absence of neighbors......or not.

1 pointI love my Berrymans dip, but mine is about 20 years old, still stinky and works great, I tear them apart and if I have time let them soak for days.

1 pointFor the tri ribs I got em from Greater Cleveland Tire 4.00-8 Deestone tri ribs for 39.50 a pair. They were out of tubes at the time so I got those at the local TSC for 8 bucks each.

1 pointI just traded out a set of 16x6.50x8 turfs on a 16 Auto,,, rim width was approx 3 3/4" and I put on 4x8 tri ribs with tubes they worked out well. http://

1 pointwell it is a pepper pot...... dad got to ride it earlier tonight as kent was enjoying washing the dishes. for somebody who hates this job, he spends a bunch of time messing around at the sink....... anyway, rode it around, runs nice, rear is a little noisy, not hydro but unidrive part of trans. also its leaking from the parking brake (fixed this once before) and i see its damp around the direction control on the pump. i think after this season i will pull the trans and do all the seals properly, also look at the final drive and axle bearings as well...... heres a bunch of pics of it out in the sun.... right now he is out there getting some seat time, might sneak out and get a vid in a moment.........

1 pointNice cart, I have one with the dump system like that, but mine is not WH, it is black in color. It works well, but does have some drawbacks for me, like Thad stated sometimes the gate gets in the way. I still use it all the time for lawn and wood debris clean up.

1 pointalright, pulled the c125 out for some seat time today and snapped a few pics for this nomination........ out of all my tractors this is my favorite ride, its not a perfect rebuild, doesnt look perfect, didnt cost me a bunch of money to rebuild, and it got done in record time for me....... i pulled this one apart on the 5th july and by the 24th august it was basically done and the decals were going on.was working 50 hour weeks at work as well, so it was hectic to say the least....... i rebuilt nearly all of it except the engine and trans, more of a cosmetic and worn out rebuild, sheetmetal got the most attention as it had a hard life.....and repainted everything in that time. it was meant to be a quickie and i wanted to get it done asap. along the way it got a few small mods here and there..... since finishing it i have added the 520 tach, big rear wheels, scott moreau hitch and new tires all round. all the sheetmetal is powder coat and the engine and trans cast iron were done with rattle cans....... enjoy the pics and if you want to see the rebuild thread here it is...... heres a few pics of how it was back when i got it and from today....... the pics will go big if you click on them and want to look closer....... and a video thrown in too.......

1 pointWell spent the day cleaning and charging batt.s a few are not going to make it this year, just no time to deal with them. I'll be setting up the show tomorrow, so for the next few days I will not be on the putor much, got 4 loads of tractors hauled today so they are all there that will be shown this year, so glad the C-195 diesel is running and driving, I hope you all can make it, the weather is going to be great, lots to see. Workers cleaned and ready This is the lot that will be at the show this weekend, I wanted a few more to go but they didn't want to go I guess

1 pointI know this is a few days late and you're dollars short... I would have suggested shorter bolts to stretch less. and I was thinking the whole time of the heat and quench method, I have a big chunk of paraffin wax to quench with and it pulls in like solder. acts like a lubricant on rusty threaded stuff, maybe it would have worked here? good story though, maybe if someone looks at this later with the same question they'll try this?
