2 pointstraded the red 99 sierra presidents day weekend on a new crew cab. even though it was time, and keeping in mind the work that i needed to do on the old girl to travel to some of the further away shows this summer, it was still hard to let it go. and i sort of still have second thoughts every now and again...... BUT, i really love the new one, drives awesome, much better fuel economy, more comfortable too than the buckets in the red one that would be killing my back after anything more than an hour in them, but i see where 14 years of changes are not always all for the better. the sheet metal is getting so thin on these newer models, and everywhere you see where corners are being cut to save some $$$$........ gotta stop grumbling though, im really happy with it and I'm glad ive moved on. nice to have the extra room in the crew, since the last one was an extended.... this one should be a keeper for quite a while. need to find a trailer now to load up the horses for some show time later this summer....... color has been growing on me, its the heritage blue color that has some real different shades of blue in there, at first in some different light i wasnt sure if id made the right color choice, just not sure about the 'purple' hints, but ive always been partial to blue when possible, so i took the plunge. i still have red tractors though, that will never change.......

2 pointsHad a great time at the Big Show! Got to Biglerville Thursday afternoon Mrs. Krazy and I walked around and drooled over all the show tractors and parts for sale. Went back this a.m. and found tires and wheels and seat brackets that I had been looking for. The weather was perfect this morning. Just checked into our motel room in Wytheville, Va. Up and on the road in the morning. Good Lord willing, we'll arrive home in Central Georgia tomorrow evening. Hope everyone has a great time and a safe return home. Jim.....Krazy_Horse

2 pointsThanks Karl for setting up such an easy way to purchase. Did it right from my phone while I'm supposed to be working!!!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2 pointsIf you're interested on what your "real" order number is, subtract 10 from your order number. There were 10 test orders, first real order was 11.

2 pointsJust a final reminder. The store opens tomorrow at 9:00 Eastern. While Michael is at the 2013 WHCC show, I will be opening the store on his behalf. Also as a reminder, I can and will answer any TECHNICAL question / problem with the store, but can not cancel orders, change your order, discuss price, discounts, ship dates etc.... those questions must be fielded by Michael. I can answer any issue you have with the store, but please remember I have a full time job and can not provide immediate assistance. I'm not available on Saturday but if you have issues with the store, post it here still and others can likely help too, or it will have to wait until Sunday. http://wheelhorsestory.com I have enjoyed this book substantially, and I know you will too. Remember, this will VERY likely become a collectors item, so you'll want to purchase this book NEW while you can, cause we all know what happens when they're sold out!

1 pointIt seems like I'm always coming across things when I don't need them. A buddy of mine called me up and said a couple old Dodge's showed up at a local scrap yard. First is a is a 1961 W300 Power Wagon 4x4 with a 10k winch on the front and second is a 1972 W600 Power Wagon 4x4 with a 20k winch in the bed. Both were owned by the same guy. He also brought in a 1977 Dodge M887 Military Ambulance but it was pretty rough. Needless to say, both of these were saved from the crusher that day

1 pointCharlie. While there have been an occurrence or 2 of immature youths on RedSquare, I will say that the majority of our younger crowd is really top notch. You show respect, politeness, considerate and don't engage in the text talk which I see on other forums, and even with older members. The "old" guys here do appreciate it, and look past your age and treat you with respect and admiration. Keep up the good work to you and all of our younger members.

1 pointThey are known as rogators and are used to spray the crops after they are planted and emerging, farmers around me also use terra gators before planting since they have very wide tires. Probably got their name because the skinny tires fit between the rows.

1 pointThis post gotta go! Sorry, guess I'm havin' a bad day. Here's the picture I'm seein'. The Mrs. in the kitchen, bakin' bread. Cleaning up. She calls out to you, "Hon. Are you watchin' our son he's outside playin' all alone?" You, on the covered screened-in back porch, cleanin' your tackle box. Watchin' the ball game on the big screen and listening to the "Lone" Ranger going back 'n forth. You call it playing, making the poor kid mow the lawn.......again. "Yes, Hon. I'm watching him play, he's having fun." All the other neighborhood boys are gathering at the curb watching your son "play." You should be ashamed of yourself Mr. Slave Driver! Have your bad day on someone else's post. I got my kid a TOY. If you notice, there is no deck on this, nor did it come with one. I don't care if you approve or not. Some parents buy their children atv's or dirt bikes. What's so wrong with getting them a horse to ride around on? We go to shows and I have yet to see a ranger this model. I would NEVER make him mow my yard and I'm sure other parents would agree. If he ever asked to mow that would be a different story. I decided to find him one when he kept after me to ride my 1054 around the yard. Keep on posting and I WILL report you.

1 pointFun pics Terry. Was that Wannamingo or Cannon Falls? You know... my wife makes fun of me on trips because a lot of the time I drive through any equipment dealers we go by so I can see what old trade in stuff might be sitting out back!
-
1 pointYes, it still has the original Tornado 230 OHC engine and runs great. Around 30,xxx miles on her. Its pretty well original, someone put bucket seats in it at one time but I'm going to get originals back in it when I come across some. Looked through my picture files and I don't have any of mine, but I'll get some. I have pics of a parts one I went to Tulsa OK to get, it had a winch on it I wanted. So I'm rebuilding the winch to put on mine. Here's the parts/winch donor before I sold it years ago:

1 pointTwo to Greencastle , Indiana #57 or 47 minus 10 as Karl's note mentions the 10 "TEST" cases!!
-
1 pointHoly crap, 14 minutes in and you're #58 already! I bet Michael's not selling them this fast at the show since he's personalizing them!
-
1 pointOrdered mine Number 58... Thanks Karl for setting this up, can't wait to read it. Mark

1 pointI can't see it holding true for automotive engines either... I've probably done several dozen 'valve jobs' on automotive engines which obviously would include 'de-carbonizing' as part of the process. I think it's a big enough statistical sample to be valid data. None of them ever used more oil afterward.
-
1 pointThis might hold true for automotive engines, and I can see the logic with an all aluminum small engine. Yet on a cast iron Kohler engine where you are only using 20-25 ft/lbs of bolt torque to hold an aluminum head down to an iron block with a composite gasket sandwiched in between, the cylinder doesn't likely distort enough to be of any factor with ring seating or oil consumption. De-carbonizing the piston and chamber on an L head engine every 500 hours or so will do more to prevent oil consumption from contamination wear than it should to cause it. With modern OHV mower engines, de-carbonizing is not necessary and most don't recommend doing it. -Mark-

1 pointNeil, those are sprayers. Most of them have a 1200 gallon tank and either a 90' or 120' boom on them.
-
1 pointYeah and Ian is a wizard with photoshop too... It's actually only got 4 wheels, he just touches up the images to make it all look bigger :D
-
1 pointGreat pics , I wonder what those trractors are meant for, they look like they could be sprayers of some sort ?

1 pointSo Steve, make sure you jot down everyone's name so it's easier to put a name to face in the picture this year. Thank you for volunteering to get the picture, it's an important part of tradition.
-
1 pointI got to get it running still but looks like a solid old tractor. Only getting spark to one plug so far.
-
1 pointWow , All that paintwork is enough to make you see red !. I take it there was a specific reason to wear 'T' shirts of an appropriate colour i.e to conceal any splashes Have you ordered a Gallon of Tyre Black yet ?. Seriously though , a Beast with new clothes is still a Beast.....Going to look terrific Ian.
-
1 pointlooking good ! got the last of your decals yesterday, looks like I'll be passing by again soon to see the finished article...

1 pointA very special thank you to Karl Lyon. He created the book's online store and worked out all the bugs ahead of time. He did this strictly as a favor to both myself and all Red Square members, as I have never created a web store. He is a very good man. I will be leaving for the show tomorrow and will return home on late Sunday. I will be monitoring the online orders while at the show, but please keep in mind that I will not be shipping until Monday-Wednesday of next week. Don't worry about getting your book autographed as I have signed each and every book. Of course if you want a special inscription, you will have to be at the show. Please note that I will not be writing personal message inscriptions for online orders. Once again, orders begin on Friday. I know that you will be very impressed with this book and DVD. I look forward to seeing everyone's face when they look at it at the show! Michael Martino

1 pointPictures of our trucks. We have done a lot of work to them and really enjoy them.
-
1 pointI can do it...group pictures Friday and Saturday around noon in the usual location.

1 pointHere are photos of my 653. It is 100% original. All decals are present and intact even on engine. Even the carburetor looks like it has never been touched. The plow has never been mounted with the hardware still in the sealed bag. Tires still have a lot of the "knibs" on them. It has only cut grass twice in its life. Cas (additional info edited in) Bought it in 2007 on eBay. It came from Columbus,Ohio. My fiercest competitor for it was Wild Bill. It was his questions to the seller and the fact that he stated who he was that really sparked my final interest in the tractor. Needless to say it did not come cheap. I seem to be the third owner. It was originally owned by an elderly gentleman in a farming comunity and it was only used by him for transportation. Its second owner had it only for a little while and used it only twice to mow an elementary school yard. I don't believe this tractor has ever stayed outside one day in its life or ever felt a drop of rain. With the exception of a bill of sale every other piece of paper that came with it in 1963 I have, down to the engine tag warning to put oil in before using. Everything feels tight like new specially the steering. It was certainly loved by its previous owners as testified by its condition. It has never been touched by paint or a wrench. It only had one diode changed at some time in the past . I can also state that it will stay that way for at least two more generations, since it will not go anywhere during that time.

1 pointWork a piece of string/cord into the gap between the piston and the wall. Go twice around. Leave the end hanging out. When done cleaning, grab end of string and pull out along with any carbon crud on top of string. Then vacuum.
