4 pointsHappy Father's Day to all the dads. I had a great time today with my four grandsons. It was Wheel Horse lineup day at the Maynard's. Then it was wagon rides through the woods. We then had fried chicken, and strawberries and ice cream for dessert. Hope all you dads had as good a day as I.

3 pointsI might as well put Reddi in the pile. Bought it at the show 4 yrs ago. Ran like crap. Took over a half hour to get it from the parking lot to the trailer. Would have been faster pushing it. Appearance wise it wasn't bad. Needed freshening up and new decals. Frt tires were toast. I mowed, plowed and pulled with it until this year when I decided to get Marvin as a back up tractor and give Reddi a well deserved semi retirement. Some of the pics I took of it when I first got it were lost due to an electrical glitch at home. I left the dents in the hood. What's an old tractor without a few dents!

3 pointsThis tractor belongs to my son Cole. It has an interesting past and its past is the main reason why my son wanted it. There was a thread A Tale of Two Horse's awhile back posted by Buckrancher. When my son read that thread and it told of this 854 being under 10 ft of water at Snyders fix it shop when the Susquehanna river rose 48 feet he was amazed. Cole commented that he would love to have this 854. It wasn't for sale though, yet anyways! Sometime later I heard it mentioned that it might be for sale at the 2012 Big Show. I told Cole and he said we could sell his go cart to get it! Well, the go cart got Cole about half the money. I didn't tell him about that little tid bit, (I covered the rest but I didn't tell him that.) Brian had to rebuild the motor (it was froze). Brian rebuilt the rear diff and anything else that needed it. It performs like a new tractor and everything works flawless. It is used to mow the lawn once a week and it gets cleaned after each use. I tried to use it this past fall to tow a small Wheel Horse cart filled with firewood but I got yelled at by Cole. He saw me thru his bedroom window and came running outside barefoot and told me to use one of my own tractors for hauling firewood!

2 pointsIt seems like I'm always coming across things when I don't need them. A buddy of mine called me up and said a couple old Dodge's showed up at a local scrap yard. First is a is a 1961 W300 Power Wagon 4x4 with a 10k winch on the front and second is a 1972 W600 Power Wagon 4x4 with a 20k winch in the bed. Both were owned by the same guy. He also brought in a 1977 Dodge M887 Military Ambulance but it was pretty rough. Needless to say, both of these were saved from the crusher that day

2 pointsWent to the Pierce-Arrow museum in Buffalo as part of my father's day. This is a MUST SEE if you are ever in the area along with the Naval museum. They have about 30 cars in there now along with tons of memorabilia. They are building a gas station designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the early days of motoring as one of the first modern stations. They are building on and have over 100 cars stored away to put in once it is finished. They hope to be done in a couple of years. Here are some pics: A Horn for your Tecky powered roundie! Hood ornaments for your "D" Early bike and the first winner of the Race around the World, the Thomas Flyer also built in Buffalo Bugatti Blurry pic of a Crosley. My Power King uses the same transmission Chase Automobile. They spelled Chasse wrong! ????? Really cool Motorette My Favorite. The much maligned Corvair engine. Buitl at the Tonawanda Engine plant Of all the pumps there, Why did I pick a Ford one? Complete with cooking utensils! Another Pierce with my son's shoulder Pierce again Silver Pierce She's real fine my 409! Pierce dual valve 6

2 pointsFor consideration I present to you my 1963 Model 653, that I purchased from the original owner back in the fall of 2011. Here's a short video called "Passing The Torch" I made the day I picked up the tractor from Bob...not everyday you get to take ownership of a piece of history originally purchased 48 years ago...so, I definitely wanted to honor the opportunity with more than just a picture. h Bob stated to me that he actually had this tractor listed multiple times on Ebay, but couldn't seem to find anyone who would commit to purchasing it once they found out it was a Tecumseh powered unit...I guess their loss is my gain, because it's been nothing but a great little performer for me. I mean look at this little guy...hard to believe it's half a century old this year...and still going strong. The first couple of detail picts are the day it arrived here at it's new home...the rest are different configurations I've had it in over the past year and a half since I've owned it. We've definitely had nothing but fun with this little for sure...still mowing, and showing with the best of 'em.

1 pointAfter 2 years of looking for a 520, last week I found a 520H. Was happy as punch to have one. Last night dad called and said the was a 20hp W.H. listed. No model listed. I could see it had a lift handle. Went to look this morning went to have a look. It was a 520-8. Nice. Unbelievable after all this time there is two within a week. At fair prices. So here is the new 520-8 which will replace the C160 under my ark loader. From what I hear this can only be 224 others out there somewhere.

1 pointI read a comment from someone on here who said, it's not a question of "if" you get another Wheel Horse, but "when".How often have you said "I don't think it will happen to me", only to have it happen to you. I will be fetching another 512-D at the week-end from Oxfordshire, it's only a four hour, two hundred mile round trip, nice! This is the last one though,i've booked into re-hab and will soon be well again. Although i would like one with rear linkage. How many models were made with these? I'd like to try making one for the 512, what do you knowledgeable chaps think to this brainstorm? I'm going to take my medication now and have a lie down.

1 pointHello from Canada I just completed a deal on a 1999 522xi with 44" two-stage snowblower, 44" mower deck and a KwikWay front end loader. Unit has 625 hours, all lights and safeties work and it has had regular servicing with synthetic oil used. Still finding my way along this Wheel Horse path and think $2500 was a decent price. Need to replace front tires and would like to adjust the hydro pedal to be a bit more responsive and not to creep. Any comments, advice or wisdom appreciated. Bob

1 pointI got a call from a guy that I had contacted earlier ( about a year ago ) about some attachments he had on CL. He had already sold them so I pretty much forgot about him. Well he called me as I said and wanted to know if I wanted to buy the tractor that went with those attachments. I asked him what it was and he really didn't know for sure and thought it was a 1962 Wheel Horse. I told him I might be interested and made arrangements to go look at it. We kind of haggled over the price as he had started to restore it and I told him I couldn't offer him what he had invested in it. He had disassembled it and had a friend paint it. He had put it back together and bought four brand new tires for it. To me the paint was kind of dull and it had already been scratched up in places. Anyway we made a deal and I took the tractor for partial payment with the understanding that when he brought me the deck I would give him the rest of the money. Getting a little long here but bear with me. Got it home and did some paint work. It was missing a few pieces and I happened to have a parts tractor with those. A little investigation and I found out it was a 1964 704 and all original. When he brought me the deck I got a little history on the tractor. Seems it originally was his grandfathers and when he died his uncle got it and when his uncle died he got the tractor. So you see this had been in his family since new. He also told me that his aunt would be interested in buying it when I wanted to sell it. The deck he brought me had a major problem but I got it fixed up. When I put it on the tractor it made a lot of noise and ran rough. Well I had another deck that I had redone so I put it on. I also got new decals from VinylGuy and a new seat cover, so it was done. I called him mainly because of the story he told me about the history. There is no way I could sell that tractor to anyone else. We were talking and he said that they had a family get together on Memorial Day and the whole family wanted his aunt to have the tractor back so they took up a collection. I actually quoted him a bargain price but he said he had $$$ for the tractor and that's what he would give me for it. Now is that what family is about or what!

1 pointI was sitting around yesterday checking out craigslist when I came upon this Lawn Ranger I believe it is a 1964 34E but it has been repowered with a kohler not sure what size but there are only 3 possibilities k141 k161 or k181. The guy I got this from thought he recognized me due to the area of Minnesota that I am from and asked if I had sold a wheel horse with a tiller last year I said yes a C141 it went to Iowa and he realized he was the buyer, when i sold him the C141 I agreed to meet him half way so he did the same for the Lawn Ranger, we met at a casino which wasn't a great idea....the tractor was cheap but the casino turned out to be an expensive adventure. Lawn Ranger $130 Casino "donations" $200 Fuel $30 I got it out of the truck and checked oil, gas, spark everything was good so I pulled twice and it popped right off and runs like a watch. I took it for a little cruise around the yard before getting it in the shop for an oil change and to check gear oil etc. I have been trying to downsize the herd but when you run across nice cheap ones it is hard to pass them up.

1 pointGreat topic. I am glad that the history interests you. It is my passion. I have a complete list of the distributors and dealers in the archives. I won't be able to help right now, as I am very busy getting ready for the debut of my new book this week. Give me a couple of weeks and I'll dig it out. It is a fairly large document so I don't know if I could post all of it. Looking forward to this Friday, Michael Martino

1 pointOk folks I just finished connecting the final wire and the trike is DONE! Thank God!!! This has been a real challenge since I was on a tight schedule and anything that could go wrong did. The paint gave me BIG problems! My fault for giving Paint Magic one more try. Never again and this time I MEAN IT!!! The engine I wanted to use had a bad carb so I had to go with a Chinese clone and that meant cutting the hood. But in the end we did manage to get it done before the show. Not my best job but passable. Thanks Don1977 for letting me know the bearing plate allowed the bearing to swivel. The solution was to weld the bearing flange to the housing. Thanks Terry Dennis for the custom decals. Thanks to everyone for your encouragement and comments. Please stop by and say hello at the show this week, its always nice to meet everyone and put a face to the handle here in the Square.

1 pointI used the high temp locktite to put the seat back in, put the valve and spring back in, readjusted the valves, put everything else back together and let the locktite sit overnight. Started it up this morning and it seems to be running fine so far. What a great forum. I can't thank all of you enough for all of your help.

1 pointI love top water baits when they're hitting too! Also prefer crank baits to cover as much ground as possible. Here's a pic of the biggest largemouth I ever caught. Estimate around 10 lbs, took a pic and let her go to hopefully catch another day.

1 pointMike you are getting lots of your shopping done before the show! Do you prefer paper or plastic?

1 pointIn the past you could drive past my property and see Ol Glory a waving in the wind everyday. Now I just hoist her up on special Dates of history honoring those how gave the Last Full Measure and the country's past glory also for are Men and Women in Uniform. But I do not raise it everyday now to support those Idiots in Washington. So I raise it up to honor are past, not for the present or are future until somethings change for the better in this country. So praise all those who have dawn the uniform and carried the Red, White and Blue into harms way. After re-reading what I just wrote got me to thinking, Are service members are there everyday to protect me whether they agree with Washington or not so maybe I should raise it everyday again in support of them.

1 pointI'm running ags on the 314h. It looks great and I can do all my plowing and road grading with ease. Pulling the steep slopes while mowing is a breeze. In the winter nothing beats chains! I have some sort of ATV tires on the 522xi loader. They were cheap and seem to be holding up well. They certainly do the job. Basically anything but turfs on my property.

1 pointThanks for all the nice comments. It's nice to be finished without the pressure of figuring out how to do something, or where to get something, or having some parts left over wondering where they go. My biggest decision at this point is do I leave the AG's on, or should I put the Silvertowns on? What do you think?

1 pointHoping that this can be an international project, here's my local dealership D J Scott of Warnford, Hampshire UK. It's a family run business started in the mid 70s and still going today. Sadly from our point of view the WH sign is no longer there and the showroom contains plastic Toro machines but there are a couple of little gems on display as well...... Unusually for the UK they hold a stock of commonly used OEM parts like wheel bearings etc as they still service some WHs from the 70s for local owners. I believe there are some other horses that have been restored by a guy that works there though I haven't actually seen them to get photographs. Here's another bit of UK memorabilia from the 70s with the 'G S Mowers' of Glasgow dealership stamp. Unlike D J Scott, G S Mowers didn't stand the test of time as a little bit of research revealed. (From the Glasgow Herald newspaper Nov 5, 1984) Andy

1 pointHere are photos of my 653. It is 100% original. All decals are present and intact even on engine. Even the carburetor looks like it has never been touched. The plow has never been mounted with the hardware still in the sealed bag. Tires still have a lot of the "knibs" on them. It has only cut grass twice in its life. Cas (additional info edited in) Bought it in 2007 on eBay. It came from Columbus,Ohio. My fiercest competitor for it was Wild Bill. It was his questions to the seller and the fact that he stated who he was that really sparked my final interest in the tractor. Needless to say it did not come cheap. I seem to be the third owner. It was originally owned by an elderly gentleman in a farming comunity and it was only used by him for transportation. Its second owner had it only for a little while and used it only twice to mow an elementary school yard. I don't believe this tractor has ever stayed outside one day in its life or ever felt a drop of rain. With the exception of a bill of sale every other piece of paper that came with it in 1963 I have, down to the engine tag warning to put oil in before using. Everything feels tight like new specially the steering. It was certainly loved by its previous owners as testified by its condition. It has never been touched by paint or a wrench. It only had one diode changed at some time in the past . I can also state that it will stay that way for at least two more generations, since it will not go anywhere during that time.

1 pointHad some time this afternoon to get the trailer cleaned up inside and got a quick photo of the three tractors we are bringing. Here they are.. If you see me riding around on one of these say hello! lol

1 pointOK. I'm in on this one, with my 1963 33E Lawn Ranger. It came out of a cornfield in Greencastle, Indiana. Rear-end completely locked up, motor frozen, and generally in very sad shape. I paid $40 for it, and wondered on the way home if that was too much. It was always going to get a Kohler, but other than that the restoration started off as being a return to factory condition: But then one day some inspiration hit me, and I just had to bastardize her:
