4 pointsAnd I don't mean a 57 Chevy haircut either! Friend has a C-145 that he's selling to me reasonable. Kohler runs great but the Eaton 1100 may be questionable. Was working ok but started to slow down. Sorta knowing it's history before my friend got it I'm hoping a lack of maintenance will be cured with a new filter and a Mobil 1 oil change. I plan on making it a dedicated tall chute blower tractor and lawn grunt.

4 pointsA quick tip on replacing the fuel line on the 3/4/5 00 series tractors: Cut the hex off a 5/16 bolt to produce a piece of 5/16" round. Disconnect the old fuel line at the tank and jam the 5/16 bolt into the end of it. Jam a new piece of 1/4" fuel line onto the other end of the bolt. Now you can just pull the old line out and in the process pull the new piece of line through and into place. No removing the seat or the fender pan. I've done this 3 times now, and its worked every time.

2 pointsI'm only guessing but I bet the door stays down when camping at the Big Show. It has always been so friggin hot there. I will say, I haven't been bit nor have I seen a single mosquito in the times I've been there. A roof vent might be a good idea, once the fart games start at night it might get a little outta hand in there!

2 pointsSEEN THIS TYPE OF LOADER ON YOUTUBE. I SEE THEM ONLY ON JOHN DEERE SO I MADE ONE. WORK IT A DAY OR TWO THEN PAINT

2 pointsSure they are nice seats, if you ask me whoever paid 450 bucks for a seat has more money than brains. It could split the moment he sits on it, especially with that fat wallet in his back pocket! Lol! (or will he even have the balz too sit on it?) Here is the problem, everyone gauges the value of their items on what they have seen one just like it go for on Epay. I can't tell you how many times I've been at the Flea market or a tractor show and I've asked the price on an item and the reply I get is, one just sold on Epay for 500.00 so I'll take 450.00. My reply is always the same, "we ain't at Ebay right now so what is the real price."

1 pointI know when this subject came up a year or so back, I put together a quick drawing on how I used to duplicate a tractor wiring harness using a section of plywood as a guide. I recently broke down and purchased an expensive open terminal crimper to do a half dozen or so C series harnesses for family and friends. I figured "In for a dime , In for a dollar" and decided to share a real life example of a harness replication jig. The board is just a scrap piece of MDF which was either going into the garbage or was going to be put to some temporary but significant use. Some scrap MDF shelving laying next to a C series in need of repair and Bingo -here we are. If the original harness can be pulled out of the tractor without too much damage, layout the harness on the board in a logical arrangement which will make use of all the landscape on the board. Major connection points can be held in place with screws or rotating screen door latches. The same latches can be used to call out major artery junctions in the harness. The latches can be used to secure the old harness to the board and create the jig The latches can be rotated to allow easy removal of the old harness or the completed new harness. Single wires can held in place with wire hold-downs used for bell cable or speaker wire. The length of all the OEM wiring is called out and the jig allows for increasing the length of wiring as required for custom installs. The crimpers and terminal rings should arrive early next week. I'll finish, wrap and test the new harness and post additional pics at that time.

1 pointJust this morning at the coffee shop a fellow said he was going somewhere in his 'Vette", and would be putting LUCAS fuel additive in it. I guess when you have a $60,000 automobile and drive it 3 or 4 hundred miles a year you need to use good expensive products!
-
1 pointI agree Ken. Not to mention the tractor that seat ends up on will not be worth an extra $450 after its all bolted on. I've owned a couple machines with that seat and to be honest, its not at all comfy! Mike............

1 pointI know the supervisor / boss at excavating company, he pretty much runs the show; my Son! The company lets him do what he feels like doin'. The dozer was going to be scrapped, doesn't fit into their newer greater equipment future. The owners like my hobby, "Give it to the old man." Last year company purchased a zero turn mower for their corporate offices, "Give the old Wheel Horse ['88 414-8] to the old man." I'll take it, all of it! The CAT arrived at my barn today, more parts to come; i.e.: dozer, lifts, arms. Nice. Was a fun drive on my stone drive. After the blade is on, wo....wo.....WORK!

1 pointHere is what I am thinking for the upcoming season: 414-8 or 417-8 with 42" SD for the top of my property (I live on a rather large hill) 312-8 with 42" RD for the majority of the backyard. C-81 with 37" SD for the sideyard. 212-H with 36" RD for the steep front bank. (With this little guy I can shift my weight so the tractor doesnt roll! Nice low center of gravity.) To be honest...I CANNOT WAIT to mow this year
-
1 pointWelcome to the addiction center. It starts with one..... Then? more tractors. And, lots of this . And, sometimes ends with this . But, you will do it anyway....... Good Luck and WELCOME TO REDSQUARE........

1 pointHeck NO. It's gonna stay white. I'm gonna find someone who knows how to use an orbital buffer and the compounds and get the original paint to shine. I bought a tongue box for it and just about ready to buy some new aluminum rims.

1 pointThe first cut of the year was done a couple of weeks ago... I remember that day well... It was a nice warm sunny day. Since then it's been frosts and snow! My weapon of choice (until my new Wh arrives) is my 312-8 with a cutting deck that was on a 518-H.
-
1 pointDamn Scott -- You are right -- That link is laying there!!! Anybody got any ideas about what the holes in the blade are for?? -- Is that somebody's "personal modification?"

1 pointI will enter my 56 RJ35 when I bought this tractor she had just been thru a flood for the seond time in six years the poor girl was 10 feet under water this time after a complete and total rebuild
-
1 pointI'm gonna put my pair of 55's up. The Ride-Away Senior and Ride-Away Junior. The big brother and little brother together.
-
1 pointI will volunteer to be the first to post a candidate. It is a very early production 1955 RJ35. Before and after pictures. I did a complete restoration on this one as it was just too far gone to keep original. Motor was redone by Charlie Pitcher and runs sweet with about 5-10 hours of run time. Pictures were taken prior to the lift lever fabrication.
-
1 pointMake sure the trunnion (#20) is in the bellcrank hole closest to the lift lever shaft. Note the adjustment mentioned in the previous post.
-
1 pointI believe all of your tractor engines should be set at 3600 rpm. Set up your tool to measure rpm, set your throttle lever to full open throttle, adjust the throttle cable and conduit at the clamp which holds it in place until it is locked down and the engine is turning at 3600 rpm. You may want to make proper adjustments to the governor and carb before you set the rpm as these could change them if adjusted after.

1 pointyou are not the only ones! my brothers Raider 10 is brush painted, my dads Norlett - and my C-101. it works if you are patient My C-101 is painted in Crown Flame red - none drip gloss
