2 pointsThe older motors can be very reliable. The parts are still mostly available and the parts are much cheaper than parts for a new motor. I myself like working on the 2 and 4 cylinder Mercs. I restored this 1956 Feather Craft boat a few yrs. ago, when I bought it she was a mess but I saw the beauty. On my vacation a few yrs. ago we hit the lake bright and early every morning and got back to the ramp by 4 pm. The 1956 Merc purred like a kitten at idle and screamed like a scalded cat wide open all week long without a single hiccup. The older motors get a ton of compliments out on the water, I must have had at least four different people thru out the week walk up to me when we beached for lunch and tell me the Merc and boat was Art Deco.

1 pointClick Link Below To Go To Dukes Show Pictures Page (2) SUNDAY JULY 29th BEFORE SHOW We arrived Sat at 2:00 pm and thought we would do some camping early. Well as it turned out they were haveing a 4H Horse Riding Contest where we all usually camp. Well where there is Horses there are road apples, and where there are road apples there are flies (I think you get the picture) Anyways yesterday there had to be a Zillion at our campsite So Luckily I brought some potenet spray I got from Orkin and Dave the campsite host fogged the whole campground for us (I wonder if MJ's Baked Goods had anything to do with that?) Anyways we shouldnt have any problem with skeeters between both of our spraying like last year. And the weather..... Well it has been just fantastic and looks like it will be all week. Im looking forward to you all getting here and if any want to come early Im sure I can fire up the Ole Grill and break out a Qt of apple juice. Here are some pics, brought my RJ-58 and 702 this year. 1 pointA boat ride that is! We tossed Steves 1954 Johnson 10 hp on my AlumaCraft and we went out and had a good time. Them Corona's went down real smooth Steve! Afterwards on the way home we stopped for some frozen yogurt Sundaes. Who would have known they were that good? I'm hooked! Here is an action shot of Steve. Thanks much Steve.

1 pointHi, I'm new to this site and relatively new to tractors. I purchased a 1976 Wheel Horse D250 a year ago and fell in love with it, warts and all. By warts I mean all the issues one can run into trying to keep an older tractor in good, servicable condition. Parts can be difficult to find, and I will be the first to admit that I'm not most mechanically-inclined. However, I'm willing to learn and this tractor has been teaching me plenty of lessons! My question is simple: What parts do I need to build a 3-pt hitch? I've looked at the diagram on the wall at TSC, but I could really use some help. And I apologize profusely for my ignorance. I'm sure there are some of you out there shaking your heads and saying, "this woman's got no business owning a tractor!" Thank you, Red

1 pointI went to the shop today to drop off a cub cadet deck to get repaired for the mother in law and I ended up making 2 trips bringing stuff home. I have been trying to talk my friend out of his 4 wheel wagon since last year well today I was finally able to buy it the condition is very good this will be my first rattle can paint job since I am going to be using it to haul the kids around at the upcoming Minnesota show and I want it to look somewhat nice. The B80 4speed was mine before I sold it to the shop they weren't doing anything with it so I got it back, the cab and weights have been waiting at the shop for me to pick them up they were free , I also got a nice John Deere micro fiche machine that has dual card holders and a built in printer I also got a lot of wheel horse micro fiche from RJ to present also kohler, tecumseh, lauson etc. I haven't even had time to look through them all.

1 pointI have an idea in my head for this right now. It's gonna be a slow week to work on it so it gives me time to think on how to hold the battery in better and maybe modify this. We have painted parts.....wo0t.... Front axle.. Steering gear..

1 pointJust buy another Wheel Horse with a bigger motor. You need more than one anyway.
-
1 pointThen I do rims w/ tires already mounted, I just break the bead, and do one side at a time. Good luck.
-
1 pointIm new to join but follow this site alot, just not much on typing alot! I happen to be painting a set of wheels at the moment & over the yrs. ive found that letting some air pressure out & tucking my used shop rags around under the rims with a flat screwdriver is the fastest way to go for me! Let one side cure while working on something else & come back & do the other sides! Just my 2 cents worth lol!

1 pointEven when using new tires, I always paint the wheels (the outside of the wheel anyway) with the tires at least mounted. You can paint the inside of the rims, then mount the tires, and use masking tape and newspaper or garbage bags to cover the tires. After painting, just inflate the tires. No scratched rims, and the "masked" tires are good to handle the wheels without messing them up before the paint cures. If the tires are difficult to seat the beads, at least you can handle them a bit rougher without scratching up the wheels.

1 pointLooking real nice Kelly. At the big show a few yrs. ago I saw a set of 702 fenders and tool box for sale dirt cheap. I grabbed em. Within an hr. I had em painted IH red and on my sulky.

1 pointCraig, I'll get my dual pics up as soon as I get the tires switched on them.... very rare DMI mini-duals. Clamp on style (no wheel centers) like the full size tractors ones. Been looking for a nice set of used Goodyear 8.5" Terra Tires for a couple years to match the set I already have. Finally just found some.

1 pointjust looking at your pics again and i think the reason the battery box was cut was because it was not removable from the frame. the later ones were removable and hence a welded steering gear shaft was able to be used. might be better to just make a new battery box that bolts on. or you could find another steering gear shaft that was pinned. the steering gear shaft welded is a much better idea in my opinion, so thats how the removable battery box came into existence. the shaft didnt need to be dismantled to get it out of the frame with the battery box out of the way. you cant drop the shaft out from the bottom because of the foot peg piece going across the frame underneath it.....

1 pointHere is one I built, cut down a 60" grader blade to 48" and 2 - 2" channels are the main frame.

1 pointWow Richard. Your attention to detail is something else (I'd expect nothing less from somone who prdouces such beautiful steam engines of course.. ). It's gratifying to see a Myford is being used in the work too I wish I had your skill and patience. That PTO is to die for!. Thanks for sharing the pictures. I too have a cultivator attachment (I need to collect it from Hindhead) just need to find something to cultivate so that I can take some pictures!
