4 pointsFirst posting here. I have been lurking for a year or so, mostly looking at the pictures of the Suburbans. I had obtained a 1961 551 a couple of years ago, and began to slowly restore it, starting with the engine. I had about given up on the original Lauson (weak spark), until a friend helped me swap out the coil (had to machine the flywheel slightly). I ended up with a sweet-running engine that starts immediately. The front wheels were too far gone to save, so I found some on eBay. At 73, I really appreciate the electric start. I spent the winter scrubbing and painting parts, and have almost got it finished. I plan to modify the exhaust slightly. I am attaching two pictures before I started, and several after I began to re-assemble it. This website has been a great resource for information, especially the great pictures showing the small details. Tom Bartlett

2 pointsJust a great Dylan song. Bob Dylan - What Was It You Wanted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ByDs_PgkNk And, for my money, the greatest rock song ever written! Like A Rolling Stone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLiLSRKms30

2 pointsI bet the Euro boys would recognize the name.....Big in the British music scene.....got a lot of air play in Cleveland and were a big hit. A lot of bands got their big break in Cleveland. Rush continually credits Cleveland for their success stateside. WMMS was playing Working Man way before anyone else would give them the time of day......
-
2 pointsThis band was huge in the Cleveland area back in the day......was told not much exposure elsewhere.....let me know if you heard this one before!!!!!

1 pointmy wife got this for me today, i know its not wheel horse (that would make it perfect ) but i think she did really good. she had suggested getting a cart for gardening, to pull with one of the horses and i was waiting for something to come along. somebody sort of painted it red but underneath its still a weathered orange. not sure whether to make it look nice and throw some decals on it or just leave it as is.... anyone have a rough idea how old it is? im guessing mid 60s to mid 70s, but not real sure. no tag etc that i can find.

1 pointI got a call from my want add from Coadster as he has a 551 he picked up from a friend recently but does found himself not able to do anything with it right now so he offered it to me. It was good meeting up with you today and thanks for meeting me a little closer than your work. I was able to get the shift forks freed up and it shifts nicely in all 4 gears, changed the fuel line and installed new filter, added gas and she fired on the first pull. She runs real strong even tho it is not the original motor. I am not sure what my Jimbo plans on doing with this but it is his if he wants it. Here is the video

1 pointCraig your the man, you must like about the same stuff I do, I love rock some old some new, but hair bands from the 80's some metal not the screaming over the top heavy metal, and not ever song from even the bands I like, to name a few Ozzy, def Leopard, White snake, Poison, Ratt, Aerosmith, Rush, Alice Copper, plus many more. I grew up on old time country, and 50's and 60's rock, but in the 70's as a kid I had a radio and found what I liked, but you know what every now and then I listen to Classical music, like Bach, Beethoven, elevator music, but not for more than a song or two.

1 point"hey Joe" there is still whiskey in the jar. How about a little Neil Young with Crazy Horse...I know...you either like Neil Young or you do not, but when Crazy Horse is playing with him...unbelievable. I always joke that the closest I get to country is Neil Young....this is Country Home. The Country Crowd may even like this. "I hate to go down to the flats...cause I can't park on a hill."
