One of the things that has always intrigued me, was the evolution of a band. In this case take Starship, then Jefferson Starship, then Jefferson Airplane and before that they were Grace Slick and the Great Society...check out this classic from the first group... and then the Jefferson Airplane version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIkoSPqjaU4

Hi, guys - been away from the forum for a bit - glad Tunahead dialed me into this thread - it's great! I had the incredible good fortune to see the Beach Boys 50th Anniversary concert at Saratoga Perrforming Arts Center just outside Albany, NY a couple weeks ago. Having been in the performing arts as a producer/stage manager for 40+ years I was a bit skeptical as to how they'd pull it off given their ages and the incredibly well known material they'd be performing, but fellas, I was blown out of my seat. That was one of the hottest shows I've ever seen! The guys' vocals were strong, the back-up music incredible and the staging just plain fantastic. They did a couple of songs where the lead was sung by one of their dead members in a video shot in a recording studio back in the day, and the current band provided live back-up to fill out the song. It was one of those moments that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, but in a good way. If the tour comes anywhere near you, it's money well spent to see the show if you're a Beach Boys fan. I'm going to see Chicago and the Doobie Brothers in a twin-bill in three weeks, same venue. Oh...I think I just revealed my tastes in music, too! (I'm also a fan of classic country!) Very best, Duff

We had a great two days at the Winamac, Indiana town park along the Tippecanoe River oxbow with the 35th Annual "Power from the Past Show". David "travlindave" and Lane "Lane Ranger" Ralph too four tractors and got to meet four new Red Square members and a few old friends too! Here are some photos of the trailer loaded up and one th way to Winamac earlier Friday morning the 20th: Here are some of the Wheel Horse tractors in display at the show : Denny Clarke's 701 that he brought from Pawnee, Illinois for his first show: David Ralph looking over Denny Clarke's 701 Wheel Horse and Denny Clarke talking in the background in the maroon shirt and straw hat. The group photo of the Red Square gang at the Winamac, Indiana "35th Annual Power from the Past Show" taken on Saturday June 21st : Left to right: Denny Clarke, David Ralph, Jason Bray, Jamie Hiers, Lane Ralph and Ryan Daily. Photos of Jason and Jamie's very nice Wheel Horse's that were at the Winamac Show on Saturday: I will post some more tomorrow and a few Wheel Horse and tractor photos of the Illiana Show held at Attica, Indiana that I stopped by on the way home for northern Indiana to see on Sunday afternoon!

What a great day for a show! Got to spend some time with a bunch of good guys there from RedSquare. There is always some good treasure pickin at this show, you never know what you'll find. I have scored something good each and every time I go to Zagray. When I was walking by this vendors spot I had to do a double take. I have never seen Wheel Horse advertising this big. I couldn't believe someone before me didn't snag these! The guy had two of them, one a little smaller and different from this one. I tipped Stevebo off about the other because I know he is building a barn/slash museum and there ain't nothing better than Wheel Horse barn art. This poster is MINT, I'm gonna have it framed. Anyone here got one this big?

just received my new wheel weights. I believe these are suburban weights. probably payed too much, bit I have my gravely front weights on the inside, and wanted to have the rear weights on the inside. because I have 5"wide rear wheels, these are the only weights I was confident would work. and I can add another set on the outside, if neccessary. :)

It is done. After looking over the different mounting systems, I opted to use the attach-a-matic mounting from my old deck. Took a lot of measuring, but it works like a charm. There were a couple of issues in doing this. The most notable was the front mounting as the bolts I used to secure it just interfered with the baffling (don't know the correct term for it) on the underside. I got it to work and it does work and cut well. For me, this was a major score as it only cost me $65 for the deck and it needed only minor repairs. I'll keep it in service till the off season when I can strip it down, sandblast, and weld in a couple of small patches. I'm undecided if I'll powder-coat the top and POR15 the underside. Powder-coating doesn't cost me anything as that's the area I work in. Thanks for everyone's input......

Layout the old harness on a scrap piece of plywood. Nails can be used as placeholders for wires exiting the main bundle. Mark the plywood to show the wire lengths / positions and lay in the new braided conduit and wiring. Grab some multicolor wire from Greg's Marine on EBAY.

Well here is what I was able to find at Zagray. Looks to be a legit 55 cable steer. It still retains a number of parts which seem to be missing most of the time with these wrecks; like the belt guard, the veri drive and lift cable. Who ever had this thing replaced the steering cable with a chain???? I will have to machine a new steering shaft spool for sure. But everything is free and spins smooth. Even the lift cable bolt came out of the hitch without effort, Amazing...... During home inspection of the veri drive, I notoced a lot of slop in the center shive, so into the press it went, just a beat key which is a easy fix, should be mint. The left rear hub is in good shape, the right will need a little tooth replacement work, no biggie IMO. New bushings and bearings are ayes, LOL! The plan for this RJ is to be the basis of a project I have been toying around with for a couple of years... more to come on that.

I've never seen a GT derby in person, I have seen lots on the Internet, and no thanks, I like my legs to walk on, and from what I've seen a old 60's cub is the way to go, with the cast iron nose, a bullet proof rear end, and a K series Kohler, and depending on the car derby, you can make $10,000 a night.

I used the RustOleum Regal Red. Was almost a perfect match but then, the old paint was faded every where. But yes, RustOleum Regal Red from Home Cheapo was as near a match as I've seen. Just wish I was a better painter. :eusa-think:

Yeah! MM, now we're talkin'! I have painted SS12 Sears and a Power King Economy in MM colors. No Sense in being just like everybody else is there? More fun to make a "modified" standard brand. I usually label them EX for Experimental then too. Heh! Clean here up and leave it that way, be diff! :eusa-think:

the only thing I wish wheel horse would have worked into their desing is individual rear brakes. it really is nice when working in the garden, and even mowing. you can turn on a dime.

Ya know sometimes the best thoughts come too you while in the bathroom lol ( mine tonight was while shaving ). If would have been like the other brands and turned their engines 90 degrees, then we wouldn't have all the different types we have today. I dont think that an old cub cadet would work very well with a pull start. Even though i like the kohlers the best it wouldn't be the same 's without the briggs techys and clintons and what ever engine type im missing .

Food for thought....... IH-50 is the code for the paint color that the Ponds wanted to match as closely as possible way back in the 40's. This is the red that was used on the McCormick Farmall "alphabet" tractors (A, B, C, H, M, etc.) up until mid-1949 and has more red pigment compared to later formulas that contain yellow pigment. My neighbor, his dad, and his uncle collectively have about 40 of these tractors. My neighbor is a body & paint man by profession and he actually has a little extra purple toner added to get the "right look". This is IH-50: Yes - I know it's a Super C and it's newer than the cut-off time for IH-50. The owner prefers the true red and chose to paint it with the old formula instead of the "correct" lighter (orange-ish) red. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ IH-1102b was the next code used, then came 2150 - both of which get lighter and more orange as you go. 2150 is supposedly the formula comparable to the Valspar "IH red". Catalyzed automotive paints are undoubtedly the best for a durable long-lasting finish. Look through paint chip books, at car dealers, etc. until you find a red that makes you happy and spray away. :handgestures-thumbup:
