4 pointsMy other project this winter besides the flood tractors was building a stainless steel sickle bar mower for my 854 I'll post some pic's with it on the tractor tomorrow Brian

3 pointsWhen I bought the decal set for my 1055, I didnt realize I had recieved the wrong decal for the dash. After having to replace my choke and throttle cables, I had ruined the bottom half of my decal. So I came up with a fix. I bought a roll of carbon fiber vinyl from my local automotive store. Although its not original, I think it looks pretty cool. What do you think?
-
3 pointsI dunno . . . I think you got ripped . . . he stripped off all the stainless stuff before he sold them Nice tractors!!

2 pointsI and my wife (Chris) tried to take pictures of the people at the show this year. I do have a couple of people that I can't remember their names. Send me a PM or post and I will edit and correct. The heat was killing me, record temps on Thursday...Saturday was much nicer. This is what it looked like when I left home Wednesday. We sat for 5 hours (from 3:00 to 8:00AM while an accident was cleared in front of us on Rt#80/94 in Gary, Ind. Not a good start to a long road trip. Finally made it to Toledo and dropped my wagon off for Brrly1 (John). Buckrancher (Brian), Steve Bo and Uncle Bo Brian, Fireman (Jeff) and Steve Jeff and Uncle Bo Brian, Ken B and Jeff little Bos RMaynard (Bob), Stevasaurus, Squonk (Mike) and AMC Rules00 (Craig). This group could cause a lot of fun. Me and WH500Special (Steve) Great seeing you and your dad again Steve. WHFan74 (Scott), me, Redbird (Birdie), Tunahead (Ed), RMaynard, Funengineer (Dave). Another great group of members. Me, Ed and Dave Me, JPJunk (Wild Bill) and RWilson (Rich). Great talking with Bill again and Rich...thanks for all your help Rich. I think this is RicksRJ58 (Rick), me, Woodchuckfarmer (Wayne) and not sure here Wildbro??? Looking over Maynard's excellent horses, and grabbing some shade. Jay in NC (Jay) and AMCRules00 (Craig). Great meeting you Jay. . JDog_Kustoms. mom..she handled all the money. Mr. JDog_Kustoms (Jordon)...he handled all the parts. Group picture from Friday... Shooting the breeze...as if there was one. Dave (WH500Special's dad), not sure who is in the middle and Steve. Wild Bill doing some kind of dance.. Catching some shade.. Setting up for the slow tractor race...this was pretty cool...need to do this for the big kids next year.. Show pictures. Me and VarosD (Don)...was great to meet you Don and thanks for all your help. Me, Wayne and don. Me, Bob, Jay, Bob's friend and Don in front. Finally Cre1992 shows up.(Charles) in the black shirt. He had 4 engines for me for Rooster.. VarosD, Cre1992, Me, and Jay in NC the group shot from Saturday.. RMaynard...Bob thank you for your shade and help this year. Buckrancher and WHFan74 (Scott). They both won something in the raffle. Scott picked out some nice tires and Brian ??...well Brian picked out this flower that wiggles when the sun shines on it. Nice score you guys. On the way home, I stopped at JimD's house and picked up my trailer with a 551 on it from CJTrott for RyDogg. Jim, his wife Karen and my wife Chris. Jim's horses in the background. Then c161rat (Joe) shows up at Jim's. Cheryl, Joe and Jim. Thanks Joe...great to meet you and yours. and always good seeing my good friend Jim...thanks for your help also mate. I finally get in one of the pictures... We took 2 days coming back and stayed in Port Clinton, Ohio Sunday ***ht. I could not resist getting a picture of Ryans horse with Lake Erie in back. Stopped and had breakfast in Toledo with Brrly1 (John). Then we stopped in Niles, Mich. and met up with Duke and dropped of the Onan that Jay in NC had given me. Good seeing you again Bob. And, at last, made it home with all the precious cargo in the truck. It was a great trip and a great show. I got to meet many members and see some that I have met in the past years. Almost forgot...dang deer ran out in front of my truck as I was coming down one of those steep grades on Rt#30 in the mountains. I was only going about 25 mph and managed to stop so I missed the deer...by about 5 inches only. Luckily, the guy behind me was able to stop also...he laid back a little more the rest of the way. Hope you all enjoyed the pictures.

2 pointshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJbPiPKmIOM&feature=g-hist Here's a quick little video link of my buddy Zack and me cruising the show today. If you notice half way through, he dumps his clutch on me. What was that all about? The kid left me no alternative but to dust that Kohler with my little Techie... you know...had to show 'em who's boss. Tecumseh's rule today. :teasing-poke:

2 pointsCongrats Kelly! You are a huge assett to this site, thanks for giving us 7000 intelligent, informative and entertaining posts. Mike............
-
2 pointsWOW...thge guy deserves it for putting that on his horse! I mean come on! Really? A HONDA!!!!!
-
2 pointsI have never seen a paint combo like this before. Could this be a factory paint job, or someones repaint idea? Ed
-
2 pointsLet face it gang, most of us have a decent collection and just are not willing to pay as much as we were a few years ago. Most of us do not need another horse but may want another. I will pay a lot less for something I want rather than something I need. Most prices were a bit high, but you do have to pay for the convenience of having a large selection at one place. Best advise is have fun shopping and dont spend more than you can afford. Just be thankful we have some horse fans willing to put on a show.
-
2 pointsI'm confused! All I saw were 4 headlights staring at me! I was in a trans.
-
1 pointI was able to score a few tractors that have been on my want list for a while now. One being an 854 and one being an earler RJ. I was told the Ride-Away is a 57 but another well known Guru believes it is a late 56. i bought this one from fellow CT collector and friend VinsRJ. Thanks much Vin, she runs and rides excellent! The 854 came from Buckrancher. He went completely thru this 854 by rebuilding the engine and the rear diff. It looks and runs excellent! I have been looking for an 854 for a long time and this is by far the nicest one I have come across that was for sale. Thanks Brian!

1 pointFor those that do not know Jeff actually as one of the first 1000 members and had some trouble with his user name and started over at zero posts.. IMO Jeff really adds a lot to this site and the local guys here in CT. He is always willing to help out and wrench on a tractor or help out in anyway he can.
-
1 pointSuper glue and Duck tape would have fixed that for you. Not bad enough for JB weld though. Hope it feels better soon.
-
1 pointI cringe when I see people horsing the thin cut off wheels through all kinds of cuts with their face right in there. Those things can fly apart at great speed. I always try and keep as much of myself out of the plane of the wheel as most pieces will fly straight out perpendicular to the shaft.

1 pointThanks guys, but I wouldn't know half of what I know about these little red tractors with out RS, because of it, I started collecting more and parting some out to save others and in the process I learned as I went, and having owned hundreds of them helps you figure out all the differences and likes in them, thanks to all of you for making this a great place to learn and share. And some of my post are a little BS. B)
-
1 pointNot really Craig, I've been married for almost 20yrs now, so my new scar won't do me any good. Matt :flags-texas:
-
1 pointX2 with sparkys comments, kelly........ thanks for sharing your knowledge, i always know that if you reply to a post its going to be to the point and no bs........ and your build threads are full of great info and ideas.... definitely an accomplishment to hit the 7000 mark with useful info for all of us....... congrats.
-
1 pointOUCH! Been there done that. I've got a nice scar on my chin from the same thing happening about 15 years ago, unfortunately safety glasses don't protect your face. If it's any consolation Matt, I've heard it said...chicks dig scars. Feel better.
-
1 pointA peck of pickled peppers Steven Prater pickled... I just had to :)
-
1 pointShe was OK with all of it, but not at first. She knows, for me the part of this hobby that I like is meeting the members and helping out...it is such a great group of guys and she really enjoys meeting all the people also. You can have all the tractors in the world, but if you can't enjoy them with the people that enjoy them also...that is what it is all about. DA BEARS... and how about Rat's Harley...it is awesome in person.
-
1 pointI knew all along he was sandbagging Matt, he's a great kid...just like your son.

1 pointHello All, Another great time at another great show in the books.... already can't wait to see you guys next year! Most of you already know I'm a Briggs and Stratton fan---yah I know..... I can hear the sighs from here! Anyways--I get a call while I'm at the show that an ex Toro Wheel Horse dealer (Still handles Toro push mowers and snow throwers..) I deal with got in a GT1100 with a deck and that he wants to dump it for $50. I buy it sight un-seen and figure it is a pile of wreckage that I bought for parts. A fellow Redsquare member that couldn't go dropped it off at my house.... I got up this morning and took a walk to have a look and was very pleasantlly greeted by this tractor... it gave me the sad puppy dog that needs a home look and it was love at first sight! It looks like the motor has accorns and a mouse condo in it.... I will get it running and I think shes yet another keeper! wooooooooo hoooooooooooooo!!!! Briggs power !!!!
-
1 point$1600.00 would be a fair price for that machine in the Erie area with the 60 inch deck if it's clean and has under 1000 hours. You can sometimes find them for less in other locales, but price will be the same when you add costs to get it to you. -Mark-
-
1 pointThe "0" probably makes the casting for that transmission as being made in 1960. That lends credence to the fact it might have been a RJ35 and updated later on. Most 58's have a "8" or "9" at the end.
-
1 point:) Now that I have gathered all the parts for my 8 speed (Thanks Mike) and have the 4 speed out. My Buddy noticed that the brake drum on the 8 speed is farther from the axle that on the 4 speed. It looks like I will not be able to use the original brake/clutch rod. Has anybody done this swap before, is so could you give some advice/suggestions on what to do about the brake/clutch rod? Thank you for your time. :flags-usa:
-
1 pointI think he let you win Craig. He was just respecting his elders. Matt :flags-texas:

1 pointHere in Syracuse a 1300 hour 520H with 60" deck, snowblower and snow cab recently sold for $3000. In May another 520H with 52" deck, snowblower and snow cab with under 400 hours went for $4000. A third machine around here that has about 800 plus hours, looks tired but runs well, with 60" deck, last I knew, hasn't found a new owner at about $1000.
-
1 pointVery nice, the fact that you have had it since you were a kid really adds to it. It looks as though there may have been a 327 stuffed under the hood at some point.
-
1 pointI guess it could be a RJ58 with a older hood, or it had the update kit installed, on the frame right behind the hood on top of the rail is there a ID tag decal, or glue left from a decal?
-
1 pointHaving seen and touched that at the show, pictures don't do it justice . . . that thing is a work of art :bow-blue:
-
1 pointI see john, and 2 dears

1 point:WRS: Jason explained It very well. It would really help if you got us some pics. It could have the uni drive upgrade kit on it which could get you confused but that is not very often found. Jake

1 pointCraig: Yes sir that is the one! 2 yrs. ago his son was driving it in the Friday night cruise and every time it went by it was just music to my ears.
-
1 pointYep, so bada$$ I had to snap a couple picts of it, notice it's signed by Cecil on the rear fender pan too. Sounded pretty heavily modified when he burped the throttle. Buckrancher captured it in Fridays mid day parade pulling the sled in his photos too.
-
1 pointlooks great Fourwheels0!! what day did you snag it? that is exactly my next WH purchase ("No Honey, just posting on RS...am I looking for another "lawn mower"? Oh no, you know I wouldnt do that!" ).
-
1 pointGlad you like it. Remember...when you put that seat on your new 753... :wwp:
-
1 pointHey Zack, sorry I had to blow your doors off like that...but you left me no choice man. You know I'm driving one of the underdogs over here, maybe next time your big Kohler will be first across the line.
-
1 pointsomething like this would be a fabulous addition to the tractor, and he could use it to scoop up the stuff that he is running over...or maybe you could build an FEL on a similar principle...
-
1 pointHere is my tractor that got me started. One of my dad's friends knew I had been looking for a antique lawnmower. It ended up being a 61 401 with duals and a plow. Here is a pic of it the day I got it and then a couple of years later. Jake

1 pointThe Hondas are: 11 hp Japanese-made Honda, and 13 hp Chinese Honda (from Harbour Freight). The Japanese Honda has been going for 16 years without a peep. The Chinese unit is one full season old and hasn't peeped yet. The seats are vintage implement seats found at yard sales and flea markets. The springs are old JD's found on Ebay. And let me tell you the baby-buggy ride that results is really easy on the back and neck. Tom in RI
