Seems many enjoy seeing a Horse workin. Jan 21st we had 3" of powder so I plowed the driveway with the C-125 / 48" blade as I typically do for small storms, leaving a row of snow around the edge. Then took the 312-8 with 42" single stage thrower to move the row onto the lawn. This predated my post on here about the high chute front cover to stop snow blowback (see that post for the cover design dimensions). In the linked video you can see the vertical snow leaking out the front when it first starts throwing left. Here is the 312-8 and Thrower. I think a cab would be nice!! Here is the 2:20 min youtube video. Nothing big just showing how well the single stage handles it. At 1:45 is a closeup moving a small pile back. No other snow around here so here is one minor storm that allowed me to charge the batteries!. Wyatt

I got together with another member here who helped me locate a few front engine roundies. I want to thank this member for helping me with this deal. I will let him chime in if he wants. Anyhow... I picked up an 854, 701 and another tractor but not sure the year or model. I posted pics of the serial number so if anyone could help me id it I would appreciate it. These all sat for years so this is what they look like after a bath. On the 854 I changed the fuel lines, rebuilt the carb and fuel pump and had to hook up the steering shaft. It looks like the po started to take the steering shaft out in an effort to pull the gas tank but stopped. After putting some fuel in it to get it to run the 2 piece tank started to leak a bit. I figure I will line the bottom with the fuel liner after the fuel drains. I fired it up and it ran awesome with no noise, smoke etc. The 701 turn freely but have not had a chance to do anything more than wash it up. The front end is loose and it really needs a restore. I ended up picking up a complete NOS front end for the 701. The last one I bought more for the rims and tires but after looking it over it is really clean. I want to say it is a 702 but not sure. Let me know anything you could tell me about any of them. Thanks !!! Here is the 854 Here is the 701 And the last one (702?) (keyswitch on side of dash tower)

Only $38 for a NOS (New Original Stock) that is a great price, last one on eBay went for over $100. - - - - February 13, 2012 On the "Horse Head" Hood Ornaments that I'm in the process of making; they are coming, very slowly. What I'm doing is like a Jeweler does in making "Lost Wax Castings" of rings & such, but a lot larger, and like a foundry does, but much smaller and more detailed, so I'm in-between the rules & materials. I do have perfect Wax casts made, trying to get the plaster (investment) to embed the wax cast, then I will melt out the wax*, then burn out the residue**, then melt Aluminum*** and pour it into the hot plaster. Sure sounds simple, learning a whole lot in the process. Final price will likely be up in the $40-50 range. I will also be making some "horseless", 'like-the-original' Hood Ornaments in Aluminum; both styles of hood ornaments will have a black rubber base, studs & mounting nuts. Aluminum can be buffed up or Chrome Plated. Both are about 30% larger than the original base. Results are still be a couple of months off. Glen *250ºƒ **1000ºƒ ***1400ºƒ

You might consider a mod like this for added stability: The stem of the "T" is free to slide in the hole in the angle. I have since had my son weld the angle to the frame but the clamps worked pretty well the first winter. I think some of the larger blades come with something like this from the factory. One picture I saw had an inverted "L" instead of the "T" and there was a tab with an appropriate size hole welded to the side of the frame. -hank
