3-speeds have the brake drum mounted on the 11/44 (mushroom) gear. Use Section I of the service manual.

Letter - equals month except for the letter I was not used.( Probably because it could be confused with the number 1 )

A=January   B=February   C=March   D=April   E=May   F=June   G=July   H=August    I=not used   J=September   K=October   L=November   M=December

The second number - equals the day of that month and there will not be a number in the middle that is over 31

The last number - equals the last two digits of the year
