hello I`m working on an 8 hp briggs Is there a conversion ignition for this so I can get rid of the points and condensor? thanks for any and all the help I`ve had so far. :thumbs: :imstupid:

As long as it's not real old, you can use an OEM Magnetron coil from a newer engine.

I think 398811 is the B&S part number for the mag kit (around $40 new) or you should be able to find them used on eBay, etc.

HERE is an ebay listing for an aftermarket (Oregon) replacement coil.

I believe its a 74 is that to old? :whistle: :thumbs:

If it has an aluminum block and the points are under the flywheel, you should be good to go. :thumbs:

The models that have incorrectly phased magnets seem to be the cast iron 10/12/14/16hp single-cylinder engines like used on Simplicity, Allis Chalmers, Sears, etc., but there could be others.

I think that is what I took off a tiller I have its like an 84 but how does that get rid of points and condenser :imstupid: :thumbs:
