Retired Wrencher 4,877 #1 Posted August 9, 2017 Just curious if this is the right way this goes together? Never work on this starter before. Is it tricky to put back together with the springs and the contacts with out them falling out of position. I should of left it on the engine. Thanks in advance. woodchuckfarmer 333 #2 Posted August 9, 2017 You can make little c shaped sheet metal strips that hold the brush and spring in place. than you can get it all lined up , then remove the c strips. The strips will go from the brush around the back of the starter. Wayne
oliver2-44 8,852 #3 Posted August 9, 2017 The Kohler manual has a sketch of how to make the C clips mentioned above
oldlineman 1,450 #4 Posted August 10, 2017 I believe your brushes need to go on top of the springs , as mentioned above you can make clips that will hold them in place while reasembling the starter.
BOB ELLISON 2,976 #5 Posted August 10, 2017 Check out the video in this post. I have read a good post about how others do it but this is all I could find for now. http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/67072-starter-re-assembly-question/#comment-633458
