JeremyF 13 #1 Posted May 9, 2017 I am new to red square and I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed, but I could use some help. I just bought a 1988 520H and when you start it, it will rev way up and then calm down. Also their is not much space between idle and full throttle on the lever. It will also rev way up when a heavier load is put on it, like mowing up a hill. I'm guessing it is a governor issue, but I'm not sure how to tackle it. I appreciate all the help I can get. daveoman1966 3,611 #2 Posted May 9, 2017 (edited) I had exactyly the same issue with same engine on the 520. Solutio0n for me was: clean out the carburetor...CAREFULLY. There is a thread on Red Square of how to do this and I have to stress......CAREFULLY. Also suggest you take SEVERAL pics as you open it up....here are a few of mine.
