Gunman64 7 #1 Posted February 28, 2017 Hello all, I have a chance to buy a 416 with a 8 speed trans for $400. It only has 600 hours on it, but my question is can i get parts for the engine? Like carb kits and engine rebuild kits?
kthack657 254 #2 Posted February 28, 2017 You can but it comes at a big price...and the used parts are in hiding...I know, have a 16hp myself and thought I was going to need some parts...it hurts, but the 16hp engines dont usually have the issues the 20hp have...and from my experience the carb and intake from a 20hp do fit on a 16. Good luck, I love the 416, and my custom trike, both have the onan p216 engine

Intakes are the same on the P216, P218 & P220 engines. Same carb on the 16HP & 18HP. 20HP carb only the jets are different.

I know the carbs are "different" but they look the same to me. I've been trying to figure out what the differences are and I can't seem to find a reliable source of information. Thanks

I've been trying to figure out what the differences are and I can't seem to find a reliable source of information. Thanks The idle and main jets are for fuel metering. Smaller engines use smaller jets. Larger engines = larger jets. The venturi is the same on the 16HP & 18HP. Slightly larger on the 20HP. If you look down the carb throat, under the choke plate, the venturi is the "opening" or "throat" that you see. Bigger throat/venturi, more air/fuel can flow.
WildHorses 378 #12 Posted March 3, 2017 I know that concept, was just curious if that's the only actual difference.
boomers_influence 106 #13 Posted March 3, 2017 daniel the # 205 venturi measures .800" the # 238 venturi measures .930" that is a LOT of difference. thank you. boomer
JackC 616 #14 Posted March 5, 2017 (edited) Does anyone know if the P220 carb with larger main jet and venturi can be used on a P216? Maybe the carb can be adjusted to allow the bigger crab to feed the smaller engine? How about visa versa even if the smaller carb will cause the P220 to produce less hp?
