alan freiheit 0 #1 Posted January 17, 2009 I recently bought a 1974 C161 with snow plow. The first chance I had to use the plow it worked great until I had an electrical fire. Insulation on wires to the light switch and ignition switch burned. I can replace the wires and might need to replace the switches but I am wondering why it happened. Here are the conditions. 1. I was plowing at night which should not be problem 2. I had a hard time getting it started and tried jump starting from my truck. Could that have burned out a voltage regulator or something? 3. The area behind the dash board was found clean of grass clippings etc. 4. Just before the fire, the light went out and I think the wires to the light switch were the fire origin. oldandred 15 #2 Posted January 17, 2009 Sounds like to me that you had two wires rubbing together and was no fuse or it just happened to be a none fused wire. replace the burnt wires with the correct size ans make sure every thing is sealed or taped with no bare wires. jumping want burn out a reg, if its done right Rewire and hope for the best Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
