kthack657 254 #3 Posted June 26, 2016 does it have an ID tag on it? I believe it would be located on the upper left of the tower, that might help...

Racer5x 14 #7 Posted June 26, 2016 I would really like to know what it is. Anyway I can look up the serial number? Thanks for all the replies
KC9KAS 4,741 #8 Posted June 26, 2016 Depends on the "original" engine....654, 604, 704....But I think it is a 1964! A Lawn Ranger would have smaller wheels, but look very similar.
Racer5x 14 #9 Posted June 26, 2016 Briggs and stratton is what the guy told me it came with original
ztnoo 2,298 #10 Posted June 26, 2016 For a "Grant", no matter what is determined this tractor is......you won't lose your investment. Good score! Hoosiers instinctively know what to do in situations such as these.
squonk 38,936 #11 Posted June 26, 2016 Briggs isn't original. Lawn Ranger would have a different PTO deck set up

Racer5x 14 #14 Posted June 27, 2016 According to the guy a bought it off of this motor in the picture attached to this post is the one he took off of it when he first go it. He said he took it off because it needed a carb and he couldn't find one. Is this another briggs?
gregg'shorses 77 #15 Posted June 27, 2016 OSHA is going to love that drive belt. I still have the scar on the side of my calf from our old 702.
Molon_Labe 731 #16 Posted June 27, 2016 604, 654 and 704 all used the thumb screw attached hood. Only the 654 had a battery box like yours. The engine should be a 6hp Tecumseh H60.

wallfish 15,923 #18 Posted June 27, 2016 I'm with Molon_Labe--- a 654. Lawn Rangers used the same hood but the tractor itself is much different. Has a battery tray for electric start. I;m not sure if the linkage bends around the tray area like that to avoid it on the non-electric start models like 604-704 That Briggs is not the original engine. The gas tank should be on the stand and the cap uses the other hole. The second hole was cut into the hood. A 654 would've had a square seat and not the seat that's on there. I can post some comparison pics tomorrow of my 654.
