WH nut 553 #1 Posted December 14, 2015 Started out with a blown up 3500 watt Techy Generator. Pulled it a part and cut the crankshaft as close to the rod throw as I could get it. Had the shaft turned down to 1 inch for a pulley drive. had to make a bearing support for the front of the rotor and pulley drive shaft. I have cobbled together a frame to mount on the front quick tach. The weight of the regenerator will tension the belt. I have it together enough to do a trial run. Its going to work out great. All that's left is to weld of the frame and dress it up and it will be ready when I need a portable generator. I wanted to build this so I didn't have to worry about maintaining another motor and it will fit on any of my horses and small enough to store under the work bench 17 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Looks like I have another project. I have had this project in mind for quite awhile and I have to admit I was over thinking it so I put it on the back burner. I wasn't sure if the pivot on the quick tach would give me the tension I needed on the belt so I was trying to come up with a easy way to make a spring loaded idler, and I wasn't sure if the belt would support the unit without dropping it to the ground. I decided to just start slapping things together and modify as I went. It worked out great on the first try. Im not sure of the ease of mounting yet since I don't have the frame all welded together yet, but the plan is to be able to just ull up to the unit, lift the one end up into the quick tach then rotate up to install the belt. no real lifting and no strain. 3 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I could be wrong but I think the WHs and Suburbans were pack leaders when it comes to attachments. They both had a lot of options! Besidewhere the Suburban mule drive slides in an attachment could also tie into the axle. Haven't seen any other tractor do that. Makes for a really nice generator setup! cleat 4,936 #19 Posted December 16, 2015 As long as this provides decently clean power, it would make both a nice backup unit and being attached to a tractor would make it very mobile for remote power at the outer reaches of your property where wheeling a generator would be cumbersome. Is it the same as engine speed, and if so at what RPM do you run?
