shallowwatersailor 3,213 #1 Posted January 21, 2015 I had picked up my 520xi two years ago. One of the cosmetic problems were the side panel decals. They were worn and in poor shape. I didn't care for ragged panels so I decided that I would pull them off at the time and do something about it later. My thoughts were to put a black stripe similar to the 300/400/500 series and drop the Toro. Lo and behold just after Christmas, Terry at REDOYOUR HORSE.Com contacted me for some measurements. He had requests to create a replacement set for the 5xi. The originals were no longer available from Toro. Unfortunately I was on a trip to the old hometown for a wedding and couldn't help out. A week or so after I got back, I was on Terry's site - and there were the 5xi decals being offered! I sent an order in right away. Terry shipped them but for some reason they decided to spend a week in downtown Peoria. Finally they were delivered yesterday and applied today. It gave me a chance to also polish the tractor in mid-winter. After the photo shoot, I used it to plow today's snow. It also gave me a chance to try my UHMW plow edge. Last year I used a rubber edge and was pleased with that. But I sold it to another Red Square member when I got the red plow. Before you think my snowthrower and plow are a bit of overkill with the "whiskers," we have a side-load garage and this helps when pulling in or out to know the the location of the end of the attachment. Ed Kennell 35,770 #6 Posted January 21, 2015 Looks great without the Toro John. Hope you didn't strain anything pushing all that snow.
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #7 Posted January 21, 2015 Looks great without the Toro John. Hope you didn't strain anything pushing all that snow. I think that It looks so good, I need to do the other two come Spring. Nope, used the cruise control. The hydraulics make the plow go up - and go down although the ankle got a workout on the hydro pedal. Hopefully Saturday's storm/Monday's storm will bring enough that I can use the "Paladin" with the snowthrower! It's getting jealous of "Hopalong" and "Poncho." I've used both now for the two snowstorms.
doc724 924 #8 Posted January 22, 2015 John, I like the look. I will have to keep those new decals in mind if mine ever get tattered (or I just want a change). BTW, you are not the only one with "whiskers" on your attachments. I have them on the blower for the 314. It is the only way to see where the edge of the blower is when you are backing out. I have mine temporarily attached so I can lift them off when the blower is being used. Otherwise I will snap off the cable clips that hold them in place. Racinbob 10,277 #9 Posted January 22, 2015 That looks awesome John. Great job on the design Terry. Like the 'Toro' or not on the original decal the new design looks so much better and works great on the X's.
Brrly1 1,146 #10 Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) Looks good John, I am going to need a set myself. Probably going to wait for spring? I guess my question would be the decal on the right side of tractor looks different because of the horse being reversed. This is just me and don't need to be beat up over it but I think it looks better with a Normal decal like the left side. My preference Edited January 22, 2015 by Brrly1
