C125 TOWING

Recommended Posts

Hi alli I have a c125 that i rerstored and want to put a tow bar on it so i can shunt my caravan about the field to move it. Where can you put a tow bar on it??? Is it safe to make a attachment to go through that eye in the back axel?? Or will that not hold the stress of towing a caravan?? Many thanks Adam

The rear end will take it.  I have a slot hitch on the rear with a lift pole I use to tow with, sometimes I use the regular hitch with a clevis on it.   :handgestures-thumbsup:

how much tongue weight will you be putting on it and how much weight will you be pulling a member on here makes a heavy duty hitch that takes a class III hitch for real heavy loads. i have pulled cars off the regular draw bar hitch

HI ya Eric. cheers for your reply. I would really just be shunting my 19 foot tounring caravan about the yard. I think its got a nose weight of about 120kg anbd a total weight of about 1 tonne. i have to eye bracket that hold on the axel for small garden trailer / roller etc etc.. I just wondered if i made one the same but with a standard ball on it if the axel could take the strain. I know its a heavy axel, but buy the same token it do only look like its cast iron.. Thanks again

(sorry about the mix of metric and inperial, i am a bit old and new school LOL)

if you are talking about the factory draw bar should be able to hold about 200 lbs i would guess but don't know for sure. i mean a 200 lb person can stand on it and not break it. so as long as you are not putting so much weight on the back of the tractor that you are lifting the front end up you should be good. you just want to be careful that you don't break the pin going through the trans and the draw bar

I would think it would take almost as much as the slot hitch and it will take quite a bit...

I am sure it will be no trouble at all. 120kgs = about 265 pounds and the standard hitch should have no problem with that. I have seen people put a lot more on them with no trouble. As far as pulling the weight around you shouldn't have any trouble either as long as you are on level ground or close to it. A friend of mine uses a 1077 WH every day to pull and push dead vehicles into his repair shop to be fixed. He has a couple tires fixed to the front of the reinforced hood so it don't scratch or damage the vehicle he is pushing. It's an incline up into his shop, but the WH has no issues. It's pretty impressive what they will do. Just remember to be careful and remember what your moving weighs a lot more than the WH does.
