546cowboy 301 #6 Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) People are buying ZTR's and getting rid of their tractors. Along with that they think they can sell their 520 and get a premium price for it no matter what shape it's in. Others get one from a relative and wouldn't know how to work on it. Seems this generation can't fix anything their self. They are too busy with video games , Facebook, texting, Twitter and such. Seems like there have been a lot of them showing up on here lately with new owners though. I don't have much room to talk though since I've had 5 or 6 myself and I love the fact that those valve seats pop out because that's when you can get them at a reasonable price and have the best machine you can get without spending those BIG bucks. :laughing-rofl: :laughing-rofl: Edited October 21, 2014 by 546cowboy
redtractorfan 13 #7 Posted October 23, 2014 I agree with you about the younger generation. I'm part of the younger generation and they have no idea how to work on anything. If it doesn't work, throw it away and go buy something at the big box store. When I was looking for a new to me tractor for my new property, my wife wanted me to buy something cheap at a store. I found a 520Lxi on Craigslist and I couldn't be happier. After a year of ownership, I tore it down and rebuilt it. I'm not typical of my generation, if it is a challenge, I'll find a way to fix or rebuild it. Today, my tractor runs like new and looks new; it is also better than anything you can buy at the stores today. (You can see my rebuild on YouTube and Toro put a picture of my tractor on their Facebook page) So, I am happy to see the 520s popping up online because I told my wife I might grab one of those up for a great deal. These machines are beasts and I would hate to see them go to scrap.
