Work Horse GT 1848...in disguise.

Recommended Posts

I haven't drug any horses home for a few months. Been busy with other things but here is one I couldn't pass up. Done a little trading with a buddy,my Gilson YT for this Work Horse GT1848. It's in disguise with a different paint job and the wrong hood but it's mostly just cosmetic issues, the tractor seems pretty solid. I am going after it tomorrow. If it is in pretty good shape like I believe I will have to chase down a correct 300,400 series or Work Horse hood and maybe even give it a repaint. If I paint it I will buy decals too. I am getting the original wheels and tires with it.

just an fyi and most wouldn't care about this, but the seat pan also would need replacing with a workhorse pan if you want it all 'workhorse'.....

that pan is a 3,4,500 series pan, the workhorses didn't have the lip along the rear bottom edge.....

I have a (louvered) hood from a 520 for sale. Its painted flat black and in really good shape.

Just a little surface rust at some seems on the underside.

PM me if you are interested.

I don't think a 520 hood will work,will it,bmsgaffer ?

the 500 series hood will not fit since it had the "dash" for the lights.  you can use any 300/400 series hood. It didn't come with louvers.  the seat pan is indeed not the same as the later 300/400/500 series.

Ahh yes. I dont have any other tractor from the newer series so I didn't think about the "dash light" cutout. :dunno:

Sorry about that! :handgestures-thumbupright:

Thanks guys. I knew the 500 series hood was a no go because of the dash. Salty,I would love to seem some pictures of the factory black Work Horse.
