Help determining year of these two GT14's

Recommended Posts

I was able to get a couple pics before the sun went down today of the serial number tags of my 2 new acquisitions.

Can anybody tell me the year and anything else of interest that may be inferred from these pics?

I can try and get better resolution pics in the next couple days if it would help.

I also uploaded some additional pics of the two GT14's in my gallery.

This is the second one I just acquired yesterday. It starts and hydro is good. Deck lift works. Lights and Electric PTO do not......yet:-) the serial number as best as I can read it is 564435 and the upper number looked like 1414post-11709-0-80654700-1412205998_thumb.j

This is the GT14 I acquired late last week. It was in non running state. PO said it should start but it needs battery and fluids changed etc....A couple projects on the burner in front of this. The serial number looks to be 790622 and above that it appears to be 1  0500  6.

Actually on the second one I am making an assumption that is a GT 14.

The first one has a hood sticker which indicates it's a GT14 but I guess that could also be in error but they look like GT14's in my uneducated opinion.

1414 may be 1969 model 1-7441. Serial 564435 falls in batch 3 or 4 batches of serials recorded for the 1969 GT-14 so far. The 1969 GT-14 serials range from 54594x to 582345 so far.

1969 operator manual

1-0500-6 is a 1971 model. The 6 is not used but when you see a 6th digit following the 5 digit model number subtract 5 from that number to get the model year. 6-5=1=1971 They used this numbering system 1971-1974 on the attachments also. The 790622 serial falls in batch 3 of 5 batches of 1971 GT-14's recorded so far.

When you write the model number use just the 1-0500.

Nice 1971 parts manual

Sorry - forgot to include the link to the 1969 manual

Thanks much for the assist.

I got a call from the PO of the 1969 model this evening. After I picked up the tractor his wife came home and dug up original owners manuals for everything. Tractor, hydro, plow etc and he is sending out via mail so I will have hard copy and some of the maintenance data was kept hand written by the fellow who he purchased it from.

I drove it this evening and it ran really well.

Sits a bit more comfortable than my C161.
