Electrical sparks from points

Is it normal to see a spark from the points cover when starting a tractor. I have a c125.

NO something is shorting out, you do have the cover on right ?? sparks at the points is normal but not visible with cover on.

No The points cover is supposed to be grounded, and the wire to the points is insulated. Does the engine start and run?

The tractor runs great.  Although the tractor does not charge the battery.  Maybe this is the problem?  I will check to make sure the wires are grounded under the cover.

Are you seeing the spark through the hole the wire goes through. The grommet should seal that

No I feel like It shoots from the points cover up to something metal on that side.

Is the C-125 engine not in a rubber isolated cradle?

Perhaps the ground cable between the engine and the frame is bad and the spark is jumping to the throttle cable which is grounded by the dash housing.

If that is the case be careful - they can get red hot.

Check the ground on your battery I had the same thing happen to me and it was a bad ground
