nigel 150 #15 Posted January 20, 2014 well its just four weeks old! what happens every year is my boy that shares my workshop calls the scrapman in about christmas time to get rid of what he calls quote" all that crap you have been saving for the last year" so this year i beat him to it and made this it consists of these parts front and rear axle-electrac mower back wheels-wheelhorse bonnet-mayfield merlin mudgards (fenders)- 40gal oil drum engine-deisel-from a water pump seat /steering wheel-old fergi tractor it wiped the smile of his face when 2 differant people have tried to buy it from me for good money and i would not sell it, cos when we do shows over here we always get the anaraks over here who know it all well ime going to enjoy it this year when they scratch there head and say my grandad had one of those on the farm in 1908 etc 5 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Re "anoraks", they abound in the world of shows and old vehicles, tractors, in fact just about any mechanical thing from the past. In the world of military vehicles one of the more polite words for them is 'rivet counters' though other words are often used under the breath as they walk away. That's not to do down awesome perfect factory restos but to my mind there's a place for everything in these hobbies. Re the oil drums, 'prototype' comes to mind and with the badge from an old car manufacturer on the hood I'm sure you'll not only hook them but should have no problems reeling them in. It looks authentic to a time long ago where it would have been factory built but over time has been repaired and/or adapted by owners to fit a need. Very clever what you have done there.
