Well that 5uck5, but I sorta expected it...

 

I think that since the machine was sitting for years you really should go ahead and look at the carburetor and the fuel pump.

 

Of course, if you are back to the symptom of low voltage at the coil, and no spark, then we need to get back to the wiring.

 

You may have multiple problems.

The DC 12 V series wound starter motor cannot be tested just by applying 12 V to it, it must be under load.  Initial trying to start it many times may have burned it out, test that motor with a load applied equal to the cold internal combustion motor you are trying to start.
