Oops I done it again! Nuther new find!

Well here I go down that road again, thought I would try my hand at a D180! just got this today, seems like a strong runner. this one has a 18 Onan in it is this a repower? no matter, it called to me now its the big brother!

Check the engine tags looks like a D 160 ?  Not in bad shape either

its an onan model#bf-ms/73268f ive seen sum pics of the D-160 with these onans in the these D-160's were only made 1974-1975 so most had the kohler, guess a few were experimented with by wh, sort of things to come?

yea must b a d-160 model # 71-160 so1- 73219 with 16hp onan

You have a very nice 1978 D-160.  

 

The D-160 spanned 1975 to 1980.  The BF-MS/3268 was used in 1978 only.  The one lung Kohler was used in 1975 only.

Terry, you said it wasn't all that pretty. Now that I see it, I think it looks gorgeous! Sure wouldn't take much rubbin and buffin to make it a jaw dropper. Do you wanna make a quick $100? LOL

Nice pick up. Word of caution is parts will be difficult for that motor. That is the older style Onan.

I like it Terry, can't wait to get my D going. 

Let me throw out a question to all you D experts.  If you bring home a D like Terry, would you take the transaxle apart and install grade 8/9 bolts in the differential as preventative maintenance or just hope for the best?  While it would take a weekend to do, the peace of mind seems worth it if you are planning on keeping the tractor.
