The Road to Redemption Chapter 2 A New Beginning

Here are some pics of the repair work.

I had to separate the headlight holder from the hood before I could get the dent out.

Broken wheel

I super glued(don't laugh!) and used plastic epoxy on the wheel.

let it set overnight and then ran screws in to pull the wheel together.

It works for now and is lawn tested. Just don't hang on it and it will work until I get another.

Here's a good side pic

Looks ok. here's a not-so-good pic

It will have to do for now. I'm thinking fall is when I'll be able to do something with it. I'm just glad to still be able to use it!

As long as it still does it's job. And you should just be glad you jumped clear. it would stink a whole lot more if it landed on you.

Mechanically it seems fine, being that It rolled twice :auto-swerve: on the way down. I did have to fill the fluids, lost some engine oil and gas.My wife said she was glad the cleanup was just oil and gas and not blood. :chores-mop: I'm a lucky guy :confusion-seeingstars:

Good lesson for anyone thinking of mowing across a slope. Might want to add a roll bar while you're at it.

Yes, you are a lucky guy! You could have been very badly injured!

I rather lose a little gas and oil over blood and guts any day of the week. :teasing-poke:

Glad to hear your horse is on the mend.

Pretty much. When it happened I didn't know weather to post it because it was embarrassing. But ,I thought it might save someone else from making the same mistake. Since then I picked up a new steering wheel on Ebay and will be getting a new(undamaged ) hood or at least the front when one pops up. I may try to save this hood just to see if I can do it. I liked Bob Maynards idea of a roll bar. It probably would have just tipped on it's side and that's about it. I really don't want to find out though. :auto-swerve:

O my Rich. Glad you are OK. I have never rolled one. Have rolled quads and hovercrafts but never a tractor. My F-I-L has rolled his a time or 2 but has come out OK too.

We all learn from experience.

Rich, happy to hear you survived the crash unhurt. Like Tankman, this is the first time I've run across this thread. I would have jumped in there sooner had I known earlier. Those old 312's are tough as nails. Thats why I've held on to mine for nearly 22 years :)

Hey man,

Been there done that.

I created me a checklist I always go over before I mow.

1. Helmet

2. Fire suit

3. Fire extenguisher

4. Somebody on standby to radio in for help

5. Check for mouse nests cuz them things can cause fires.

6. Check headlights and tailights if driving on public roads.

7. Fill the engine back up with oil(after a rollover oil level is liable to be low if it come out the carbatater)

8. Check the clutchs funktionality so no colisionz ocur(ask me why I know)
