I got a 418-a it runs for a bit then it dies. You let it set for about 20 to 30 minutes it starts up then it starts doing it all over again. The carb has been clean out I took it apart and clean it. Could it be the coil getting hot.

After it dies you need to try to start it and verify whether it has spark or not. Dont wait 30 minutes but do it right after it dies. If it has spark then your coil or magneto is good and its probably a fuel issue.

If it is the coil braking down, you could check the spark plugs they should black with soot if it dies from weak fire. If the plugs look good it is something else.

I think they lose it after sitting not while running.

As soon as it dies take the air cleaner lid off and spray some carb cleaner in and try and start it. If it starts, runs and dies you have a fuel issue. If it doesn't start or even try then I would look at spark. Check the tiny hole in the gas cap to make sure you don't have a plugged cap that is causing a vacumn and the fuel pump can't pull fuel. If the cap chescks out OK I would change out the fuel filter.... the crud on a fuel filter can get stirred up and temporarily plug it. Tony

I was going to say the same thing Doc, open the gas cap see if it starts back up after a few cranks, the vent may be plugged.

Check the filter in the gas tank, sounds like a plugged filter...

Had the same problem with a 520H.

You can cut the filter off for a temp. fix until you can install a new valve & filter.

Less than $7.00.
