I f
Fell into a bucket of Doo Doo the other day.Seen sitting on a shelf of a second hand store
a beautiful tin can that said Stewart-warner portable hand held Tachometer, 7 bucks
Couldn't get my green out fast enough. Had it checked with a couple other digital
contraptions and it's right on the money. MODEL 757-W
And I feel I come out smelling like a rose. Rock solid built like an old wheel horse
I'm sure it will be a good insrument when I'm gone.

If you have a single cylinder engine with battery ignition, you can use an old fashon dwell/ tach meter in the tach mode. Simply multilpy the reading shown on the meter by 6 or 8 depending what scale you are reading from. A reading of 200 rpm on the 6 cyl. scale equates 1200 rpm. A reading of 500 is 3000rpm on the 6 cyl. scale. On the 8 cyl. scale a reading of 150 is 1200rpm, and 400 would be 3200rpm
My brother gave me his old dwell tach meter that he bought new in 1983 from K-Mart, it is an analog meter, and is fairly accurate.

the meter i got doesnt bounce around,it seeks to work really good, not to complain but for 80 bucks it better not,for 10 bucks i can see it bouncing, its fun rebuilding these motors but it sure costs to have all the little goodies to acheive proper results

I have a snap-on timing light with adjustable timing, it also has a tach button and should work good. Haven't tried it out on a horse yet, just need to bring it home from work.
