312horse 0 #1 Posted August 2, 2011 I appear to be losing my gear lube out of my 312-8 tranny from around the shaft that holds the brake drum , where do i get that seal , and also is that just dug out of around the shaft and the new one put back in from the outside ? :woohoo: Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Mike in Esko 34 #3 Posted August 2, 2011 If it is more convenient for you, I've just gone to NAPA and picked up the seals/bearings that I've needed. My axle shaft seal was leaking and I damaged the needle bearing digging out the seal and it cost me $15 at NAPA for the replacements. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
jpmcleod 4 #4 Posted August 3, 2011 I took my old seal to NAPA and bought an "O" ring seal the same size. Mine stopped leaking. I drilled a very small hole in my seal and popped it out with a punch. I was very carefull not to drill into the casing by turning the bit at a 45degree angle so it would not bite into the casing. Came out easy. Good luck.
