Snowblower Lift

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has attempted to install an electric actuator for lifting a snow blower. I was looking at where a hydro has it installed and thought it could be done. Any thoughts on this is it feasible. Any input appreciated.

Thanks Joe :banghead:

Many WH tractor had electric lift on them or could be added, the parts are not cheap or easy to find for the factory set ups.

Hello, I think an actuator lift would be a great idea! Here are some places to look for a cheap one. You might find one in a junkyard if you want to go the economic route.

They are usually found in the following areas:

Automatic min-van doors.

Power seats. Look under the seats of luxury style vehicles

Power sun roofs.

Power convertible tops. These are sometimes hydraulic with their own pump and everything.

Boat motors. These actuators are used to raise and lower outboard motors.

Have also heard that abs brakes and push button 4 wheel drive transfer cases can have actuators but haven't checked this one out for myself yet.

Hope this helps! Keep us posted with lots of pics! :banghead:

I have two 400 series Horses with electric lifts.

One a 417-8 with the factory E lift.

It's an actuator that sits in the tractor the same way as the hydraulic cylinder on a hydrostatic tractor with the hyd lift.

Works very well, but slow compared to the hyd lift.

Also have a 416 with an electric over hydraulic setup.

It works about the same, but consumes more power.

Factory electric lifts can be found on ebay....they tend to get pretty expensive.

I think Ryan has some good ideas for finding an actuator in a salvage yard.

Both of my boats also have a nice electric over hydraulic pump for the trim plates & lower unit trim.

If you have a boat salvage yard around that might be a hot setup.
