First Test of Single Stage Blower on C121

Recommended Posts

Polaris2007

We finally got some "blowable" snow on Wednesday and Wednesday night. I finally got to try out the old single stage blower that I rebuilt (all new bearings). It was also the first run in the snow with the new lead wheel weights, chains, and bicycle chains on the front tires. I actually tried it with AND without the bicycle chains on the front. Wow what a difference! I'm worried that the bike chains might not hold up. If they don't I will buy some #40 chain. I can't believe the traction this rig has. I never spun a wheel, even in the 12" drifts! The turfs with chains definitely do better than brand new AGs with no chains. And of course the 150 lbs of lead and 300lbs of man on the back doesn't hurt much :ychain: The blower worked great, however I think I would have less snow in my face if the discharge shute were taller. Why did they put such a short shute on this model? If you set the shute to straight ahead, the snow hits the top plate of the blower housing, and some comes back and hits the operator. No big deal really. This is my first tractor mounted snow blower, and I LOVE it when I would go through a deep drift and the newly rebuilt K301 would lug down , start chugging, and just chomp right through! Very Cool!!! Here's a couple pics.....

Excellent! :ychain:

Bend that top plate so it's at roughly a 45 degree angle and it will help:
